I stayed at Hotel Neo Magna for four nights during a trip to Madrid. I felt that the day time staff at reception was a little cold and stand offish, but the gentleman working in the evenings was extremely helpful, even offering to accompany me, a single woman, down to the basement laundry room, since it was late at night. The hotel had everything I needed. The bed was comfortable, the internet was reliable, water pressure was hot and strong, and it was located within 5-10 minutes walking distance from many restaurants, bars and the metro stop. The hotel also featured a laundry room (soap included in wash cycle) and a small gym. My main gripe was that you can hear everything through the walls, and since Madrid has a great night life, I frequently heard other guests coming in and in their rooms at 2 or 3am, my next door neighbors in particular, whose noises would have made me blush if I were traveling with family. Checkin starts at 1400 and is strictly upheld. However there is a spacious and comfortable waiting room with wifi available. I would recommend this hotel for singles and couples, but definitely not for families with children!

Good price, comfortable beds. Laundry facilities available! This is more like a dorm than anything else. We had two twin beds, but also two desks, and two closets. The shower is one of the smallest we have seen, so it can be a little difficult to maneuver in. When you are in your bathroom, you can hear your neighbors through the vent?!?! Housekeeping is a little inconsistent but I do not think they have enough staff.

Excellent wifi.

Really enjoyed the location, close to the subway and a short walk to some shopping. We like to stay a little out of the "touristy" areas to get a feel for a place.

Overall, a good choice with no frills.

This hotel has been freshly rennovated so everything is nice and new and clean. They are still painting though during the day so you often get strong paint fumes coming in to the rooms during the day. I like the location.. It's close to the metro and easy to get around the city from here. The area feels safe day and night compared to a lot of other areas of Madrid. The rooms are clean with good wifi and a couple of desks to work at. Yes it can get loud at night with a popular bar across the road but i found staying in a higher level apartment minimises a lot of that noise. When we came back to Madrid we chose to stay here again for its reasonable pricing, a good gym, helpful staff and comfortable beds.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher level, close the bathroom windows/vents during the day to avoid paint sme...

At $30 per night I paid you are in hostel prices territory, and even cheaper than most airbnbs in Madrid.

It is an old renovated building that works as a weird hybrid between a hotel and a short/medium-term student residence.

Location is reasonable, in the outer border in upscale Salamanca district. A 30 min walk to the center.

Wifi is free and works well. Aircon doesn't cool too much in the summer though, and bathroom is smelly. Rooms are clean and renovated in typical Ikea style.

Good for that price, otherwise there are slightly more expensive and better options in the area.

Dear guest,

We are greatfull for your coments in tripadvisor. We are proud to inform you that there has been some changes in the concept of the hotel, which basically mean that we are focussing in our hospitality service and leaving aside the young residential point of view of the past.

Thank you for your coments and regards, we will for sure use them to develop our future projects for the hotel.

Having motorcycled from Cadiz to Madrid following a not very pleasant 45 hour ferry crossing I couldn't wait to get to the hotel. I needed to park to the bike so went straight to reception to sort this out. Now the guy on the reception was not unhelpful but let's just say a little customer service training wouldn't go amiss !
Me: hi there have ridden for 400 miles in 34 degree heat and need to check in as I am tired and hot
Reception: can I have your passport
*not noticing that I was dripping in sweat he didn't even offer a "oh my that sounds bad" - a cup of water would have been nice or at least the offer !
Me: I have left the bike out the front, so where do I park it.
Reception: it's round the corner I will print you a map
* having my iPhone on and google maps open, I said why don't you just show me on here. But no he was determined to print the map off !
Long and short of it ... No asking about me ( or slight hint of conversation ) he just stared at the screen to check me in and print the map off ( which never happened - as he couldn't get it to print !! )
The end of my tale of woe is that fact that I checked in ( conversation less ) found the car park to park the bike, lugging all my bike bits back. Went to the second floor room 205 to only discover there was no room 205. By this point the fact that I had lugged my heavy bags off the bike to the hotel and up to the floor, I was not moving them again. I went back to reception to explain that there was no room 205 and he explained then that you have to go through the door of 204 ... He smiled ! I explained again how hot and tired I was and was really feeling angry now ! A lady then rapidly appeared from behind the screen. I am really sorry sir I will show you to your room

Moral of this story
TALK TO YOUR CUSTOMER, AND MAKE THEM THE PRIORITY, NOT YOUR PAPERWORK !!

As advertised no noise from outside, unfortunately you could hear everything from the rooms next door. Some days were ok, but some other days people were really too loud the whole night long. pity, great location and area.

The standard was very good. The premises was clean, modern and nicely decorated. Excellent location near Metro(Line 6 and 2) only 3 mins with plenty choices of restaurants nearby. I stayed at floor 6, which was a good size, warm, quiet and very pleasant with a very comfortable bed(Though i Booked full bed, they gave me twin beds. It's OK to me). The only small problem was the (1)not enough power plugs (2)TV: no football channel!!. Overall, excellent value for money. I will recommend this hotel to everyone

Room Tip: Great location, clean, quiet and value-based price!!
