This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. It's an excellent, very clean budget hotel with a free shuttle bus to/from Madrid Barajas Airport (all terminals). Right next door is a very good supermarket if you want to stock up on items that don't require refrigeration.
The staff are very good and some of the staff speak languages other than Spanish. The rooms are small but the bed is supremely comfortable and I had a great night's sleep. Although close to the airport, the room was very quiet. Walls are a little on the thin side, as I could hear people in the room next to me, but their noise wasn't too disruptive. It was freezing outside (there had been snow that morning in Madrid), but the room was an excellent and very comfortable temperature.
The hotel offers free Wi-Fi in your room as well as the free use of a computer and printer which is available near reception. The computer at reception is limited to 20 minutes use, but you can use the free Wi-Fi in your room for your whole stay. I was able to print my boarding pass for the next flight without any problem at the printer near reception.
After a long 30+ hours of non-stop travelling from Australia via Singapore and London to Madrid, I was desperate for a hot drink before going to bed. However, after having a shower, I remembered that this is one hotel that doesn't have a kettle and tea/coffee/milk/sugar in the room. Being absolutely exhausted, I just couldn't be bothered to dress and go downstairs to buy a hot drink from their bar, so for me, this is the only downside to this excellent budget hotel.
As with other Ibis hotels I have stayed in, being older and arthritic, I prefer to use my own liquid soap and shampoo, as I find the dispensers in the bathrooms very difficult to use. They are definitely okay to use if you are young and strong, but the liquid all purpose soap is a little drying on your hair.
Breakfast is quite good and plentiful, but there appears to be no hot options offered and I was too tired and hungry to ask about things like fried eggs and bacon, which I really felt like eating. I didn't eat breakfast at this hotel last time I was here and was disappointed to see there was no hot food on display. Excellent hot breakfast options are available at other similar Ibis hotels I have stayed in.
There is an excellent choice of coffee and tea at this hotel. The pastries and pancakes (pancakes are served at room temperature), variety of sliced bread and bread rolls, sliced meat and cheese as well as a variety of yoghurts are all very good, so I left the breakfast table very satisfied.
All in all, an excellent hotel for a very good price. Will definitely stay here again when I travel early next year.
