“must have bought a star or two”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 February 2013

This is not a 5 star property and barely a 4. Location is good, but Sunday afternoon brunch @ Ramses is enough to drive anyone away. Rooms are small. Internet is slower than dial up. Must not be good ventilation system because smells from other rooms fill the hallways. Bar is not 5 star of even 3 star quality. Personnel are nice but but not on a par with 5 star concierge. Valet must have been asleep because we got off on curb and walked to door- a pretty fair walk. He was surprised to see us checking in.
We would not return.

Really nice hotel, amazing staff. We have been there for a weekend. Location was perfect, really central and walking distance from the most exclusive comercial streets like Ortega & Gasset, Serrano, Goya etc. We will repeat for sure.

Stayed here on a business trip, does not cater to the business traveler. Would stay here again for pleasure. Enjoyed the room amenities and hotel location. Steps away from Calle Serrano (high-end shopping).

I stayed with my family at Hospes Madrid for 3 nights. The location was great for exploring Madrid. Right next to Retiro Park, close to Prado and not far from Atocha train station. The staff, specifically the reception/concierge employees were very friendly and full of good advice. They had lots of helpful information about what to do and how to see specific sights. Breakfast was pricey but delicious, it is a buffet for 25 euros. Our one complaint was the layout of the rooms was a little strange. The bathrooms were extremely large and occupied more than half the room space. Most of the space in the washroom was just open space and not particularly usable. Also there were no chest of drawers or shelves to unpack your stuff on. If you like boutique hotels, Hospes Madrid is a good option for your stay in Madrid.

Understand that there are two elevator banks, one serving the front and one serving the back. Furnishings are satisfactory but not what I would call luxurious. If you want a view, specify the front. Rooms in the back look out on to air shafts. On the other hand, they are supremely quiet. Breakfast is pricey, but beautifully prepared and the quality is high. The lobby is not a paticularly welcoming space and the furnishings and color scheme are unconventional. The hotel is well situated for strolling the Retiro and Salamanca and the major museums are a short walk away.

On arrival and where meet by two of the most helpful reception staff I've probably ever meet.
We had a few ideas for we wanted to go and things to do, places to see, to eat, to drink and just get about. On asking their views they were extremely helpful it adding and suggesting changes to our plans.

The location is great being less than five minutes from the Prado museum and next to the Park and boating lake.
Breakfast was typical continental offering, continually refreshed with supplies and again friendly service.
We had a room on the second floor at the back, near heard the traffic and was a wonderful shape with massive bath, walk-in shower and toilets all separated and freshly cleaned each day
They also have two bikes which we got to hire for free and had such good time getting around Madrid that we hired them again the following day, which was unfortunately our last day.
Well recommend the hotel and would stop there again when going back to Madrid, which turned out to be much more fun as we got into the heart of the city. Other reviews I’ve done explain more.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel are so quiet, can’t tell what there like on the front but room was ve...

I travelled in mid of November in Madrid for business... I chose this hotel and i am really happy with my choice!! The room was excellent and very clean! The service was very good!! The only reason that i don't rate it with 5 is only cause the breakfast was not included in the price but i knew it from begining... Totally recommended!!
