Just returned from 3 days there in room 405. It was a corner suite & both rooms were large with high ceilings & huge floor-to-ceiling windows. The weather was great so the sun beamed through & made the view of both squares perfect. The room was so nice we couldn't resist room-service breakfast at the huge dining table. The food was great (although not that cheap). We also ate in the restaurant one evening & again the food was great. The bars & restaurant were very popular with locals & tourists alike. the buffet breakfast was OK but no menu for cooked items was available but eggs, etc are there - if you ask for them.
The location, as all reviewers noted is excellent, with an abundance of great bars & restaurants close at hand - in every direction. Shopping, museums, parks & great architecture are also readily available on foot.
On the negatives, the room looked a little tired in places, slightly grubby counter tops & a bulb out that was never replaced & a cupboard door that was unhinged. The entertainment system particularly was out dated & the speakers shot. The whole system, in both rooms was difficult to master. The only other slight disappointment was the bath tub. It wasn't a hydro-massage tub as listed but a 3/4 size tub with a flashy shower over. The room itself was large & very well equipped.
The major problem was with the bedroom lights. On our last night they switched on several times throughout the night. Really not conducive to a good nights sleep. We thought about calling to report it but didn't imagine they'd have a technician on site on a Sunday evening in December. When we informed reception they were well aware. Obviously this is an on going fault.
The reception staff should get a mention, as they were always great. Couldn't help enough & had great suggestions for restaurants.
On the whole the good out-weighed the bad. But probably €400 a night a tad excessive for what we got.
