We visited the Me Madrid to celebrate our first anniversary and absolutely loved it. The journey from the airport took about 30mins and cost 25euros. The location is very central and after a few problems checking in, we arrived at a beautiful room overlooking Plaza de Santa Ana. The room had all the mod-cons and plenty of amenities plus a balcony with stunning views over Madrid.
The weather was perfect at this time and we made the most of all the wonderful Tapas bars in the square below., 'Turf' being our favourite with old time classics and a few modern dishes. For classic Spanish paella we went to El Caldero on a street just off the square.
The hotel has two excellent bars. The Midnight rose is quieter, classier and with excellent food, cocktails and chill out music. The roof top penthouse bar has great views and is a lot busier with long queues to get in, hotel guests get VIP access to the bar.
Overall a great weekend, the hotel is not cheap but the location, rooms and bars make up for this. Watching Spain win the world cup with 250,000 people on Paseo de Recoletos was an added bonus.More
