“Restful nights”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 November 2013

We recently stayed here for 3 nights before our son's wedding and liked it so much that we stayed again the night before our return to the U.S. The hotel was well situated near our new Spanish family and near neighborhoods with which we are familiar. It is near Templo de Debod, Plaza de Espana, and walking distance to the royal palace and many other popular sights. There is a cycle tour shop right next door and we would have loved to try that if we had had time on this trip. The hotel is also located very near some great neighborhood restaurants as well as a metro stop for easy access to anything in the city.
The room was spacious compared to other rooms we have had in Europe. It truly was a small suite with a kitchenette, microwave, mini fridge, etc. There is a safe in the room as well. The rooms are very clean and ours was certainly VERY quiet. Comfy beds.
We did not choose the breakfast option, it appeared to be a very small continental type breakfast as we did not see a restaurant or kitchen on site.
The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Our flight to Madrid arrived rather early in the morning and since our room was ready, there was no problem checking in early. After our son's wedding we took a few day trip to the Costa del Sol and the hotel was happy to store our excess luggage for us while we traveled. They were also very helpful in calling a taxi for us for our early morning departure from Madrid back to the U.S. and we were surprised by a very professional driver in a Mercedes van; which was a good thing considering the amount of luggage we had. We were only charged 40 euro for the ride to the airport. Considering some of the forum posts and reviews we had read, we were worried what price there might be in store for us. I am sure that the hotel staff knew which car services are reputable and trustworthy. So we thank all the staff for making our stay very comfortable and pleasant. We felt that the price was a very good value and we will stay there again when we visit our family in Madrid.

Stayed here as a couple in March of 2012. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from a major metro station. The rooms are very nice, clean, and modern-looking. The staff at the desk was very helpful. There are plenty of things to see within walking distance and you can walk to the metro station to get to anything further away. We also got this room relatively cheap! I highly suggest staying here!

Location is good - near plaza espana. Not in the middle of the hear of Madrid but on the edge of the center.
Breakfast is really good and in general the rooms are very good.
Value wise - it's a very good deal.

We were with a group of 33 people and only stayed 1 night. Reading some of the reviews here now....I hope we didn't cause too much noise for the other guests. They were all very euphoric..." Christoph, at reception speaks Dutch and this was very helpfull. Very friendly staff and beautiful breakfast buffet, clean and light rooms. Easy to reach by Metro from the airport with only one change ( take line 8 pink to the end ( Nuevos Ministerios) then to the 10 blue untill Plaza de España, from there it's not very far at all) .

We stayed for a week at this hotel in sept found overall that the front desk was very friendly, professional and English conversant. We stayed on one of the lower floors facing the street. There are 2 times we found it extremely noisy. First 8:30am to 9am the kids in the elementry school across the street arrive at school and are literally screaming... Spanish kids are crazy loud! Then at 9am, the school blasts a song through their loudspeakers (instead of a bell) to call the kids inside. It goes on for 5 min and it goes something like this, "hey amigos, come inside and learn...".

Second, we found that there was a lot of street noise on weekends in the late evening and early morning from people on the balconies in the hotel just chatting very loudly outside... It would be quiet only around 3am. Can't blame the hotel for this as this is just the nature of people in the city.
The room we had was a very good size... Two twin beds pushed together to make a queen size. The sheets are thick and good quality with a firm mattress. The room was very clean with modern finishes.

We were disappointed in the bathroom. It really is tiny and the door does almost hit the toilet. We stubbed our toes on the metal door jam screwed into the floor. The bathtub-style shower has an awkwardly placed faucet which means we bunged our knees a couple of times. I also think they are cheaping out as far as only providing one hand towel for 2 people, and one bath towel per person... Really think there should be 2 towels per person. There is no soap dish at the sink (recommend bringing your own) and they don't replace the soap unless you throw it away. These things sound like nitpicking but i think those little things make a hotel more comfortable.

The neighborhood was very safe and walkable to more interesting areas.

Room Tip: Ask for one not facing the street and up higher.

The hotel is very close to the Gran Via and Plaza de España, without the noise and the chaos of both places. Clean room with AC, bathroom a bit small but well equipped, and great breakfast buffet. We stayed there for eight night and the service was extremely helpful. You can negotiate cheaper prices if you stay for a few days.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back are 100% silent and they still get a huge deal of sunlight.

Stayed at the Suites Viena off the back of really good reviews and a very cheap deal booked via Hotels.com - it didn't disappoint. Hotel has a good location, 5 mins from Plaza de Espana, but located in a quieter residential area away from the direct hustle and bustle, perfect to relax! Do not be put off by the look of some of the streets surrounding the hotel - this is a residential area remember but means its quieter. Our room wasn't available when we arrived however an upgrade room (only €10 per night) was so we opted for that which gave us a huge terrace/ balcony - perfect to relax on after a hectic day of sightseeing! So would definitely recommend this. The kitchen area is great to have, lots of seating in the room, comfy beds, clean linen and towels every day even when not needed, great shower and overall the modern decor was superb given the low price and completely free wifi - this is definitely the best 3* hotel i've stayed in.

A few negatives however. Having booked a double bed, the upgrade room was 2 singles pushed together, with no option to then change back, which slightly marred the experience. Be aware this is typical for Madrid, and you must ask for a 'cama de matrimonio' - an actual double bed, versus a 'habitación doble' - 2 beds together. Its also surprising that, given its a 'suite' hotel with kitchen facilities (i.e. a mini apartment), no irons or ironing boards are provided - surely every hotel should now have this in a room?! Instead an expensive ironing service is offered - basically the hotel has one big iron in the cleaners cupboard up on the 6th floor which we saw when it was left open! You also have to ask for kitchen equipment such as pots, pans, cups and a kettle, and what is provided is VERY basic - don't go here planning on cooking a big meal!

Cant rate the restaurant as we chose not to have breakfast there - there's no point as you can either prepare something yourself (lots of supermarkets locally) or go out - would recommend cafés around the Palace or Plaza Izabel.

Overal, it was a great choice for an amazing price and would definitely return and stay here. If the negatives were worked on it would be 5/5 every time.

Room Tip: Go for a high floor facing away from the road and school - we stayed in Room 606, an upgraded room...
