“Excellent hotel, quiet, central and good value for money”
Reviewed 18 December 2011

We can highly recommend Suites 33 We stayed on 30th November as we were going to a performance of the Cirque du Soleil,(which was fantastic). The room/suite was very spacious with simple but smart decor, clean and tidy. Everything you might expect was provided. It was quiet despite being in a busy area. Very convenient for travelling to the airport or visiting key sites in Madrid. The price of 80 Euros for a suite in the centre of Madrid was excellent value for money. The people on reception were very welcoming and helpful. They provided information on transport and where to go. There was a very good cafe almost next door, recommended by the hotel staff which was perfect for breakfast or meals.

There was a kitchen but no equipment, apparently it is not used normally. It would be more convenient if you could use the kitchen for a cup of tea at least.

Stayed for a couple of nights and really enjoyed our stay there. The rooms were very spacious and clean the beds were reasonably comfortable and would definitely recommend this hotel. It's very close to the metro station and is great for the nearby shops and restaurants all within walking distance. The staff were very friendly and helpful the only downside was it was in quite a noisy location but that was mostly sirens and people outside not anything to do with the hotel. Was a great place to stay for a couple of nights

This is a very good place to stay in Madrid for about 70 Euros per night for a double bedroom. There is also a small kitchen with a stove, microwave and refrigerator. Unfortunately there was no kitchen appliances such as forks, knives, spoons, plates or pans.
The bed was huge and comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious and clean.
Location is one block from Plaza Espagna and Gran Via, so is really in the center of Madrid. There is a subway station only one block from the hotel, and the subway lines in Madrid are great and will take you everywhere.

I was really pleasantly surprised with Suites 33. I booked the hotel from Late Rooms for a really reasonable price and apart from it being central, I didn't really expect much.
It was easy to find, it's about half an hour away from the airport and one change on the Metro which costs two Euro fifty. There is also a station one minute away from the hotel ((((Plaza De Espana??))) from memory.
The hotel lobby is a bit no frills, but the room itself was modern, spacious and bright.
It also had a little kitchen which is a nice extra and a hairdryer which was reasonable.
The staff were helpful, especially Daniel on reception who recommended bars and restaurants and handed out free maps.
This was a great base to explore Madrid and great for the price.

Do be very careful on the Metro however when travelling to Madrid. It can be very busy and my friend got pickpocketed by what we think was a nasty little woman. Also, there are different stations for opposite directions of travel although these are called the same.
It is quite confusing as only one station is marked on maps.
If you go through the barriers by accident at the wrong side, a really grumpy guard will expect you to grovel about how sorry you are and possibly not let you through at all.

Room Tip: Street side rooms can be very noisy as people in Madrid love car horns.

We had two "family rooms", each of which had a king-size bed and a foldout sofa. Rooms were large, and had a cooktop, small refrigerator, and microwave (although there were no utensils, plates, glasses, or cookware). There was a metro stop at each end of the block (for two different metro lines), so getting around was easy. The front desk personnel were very helpful. Numerous restaurants within a block or two.

The only complaint was noise levels in one of the rooms. One of the people in that room said the noise came through the walls as if they were made of a single sheet of drywall. A couple of people in that room said that they hardly got any sleep at all. Unfortunate, because Suites 33 was very good otherwise.

Room Tip: The family room with the noise problem was on the second floor; the family room on the fifth floor d...

We found Suites 33 on the TripAdvisor site. It was an easy walk from one of two Metro stations, Santo Domingo or Plaza de Espana. We had no problem taking the Metro from the airport. We purchased the 2 day pass and proceeded to get our money's worth the first 6 hours of our visit! The front desk staff were very helpful. We ended up having breakfast at the Hotel Colosso which is the sister hotel up the street. The room is SUPER clean ( a big deal for me). The bed was extemely comfortable and the bathroom very large with bidet, tub and shower combo and plenty of hot water. We had a room at the back which was very quiet. I agree with other reviewers that the area looks sketchy, but we never had any problems. The food in the area is expensive being so close to the Gran Via, but we were able to walk or ride anywhere with ease and chose other locations for eating.

Room Tip: If they are available ask for a room at the back.
