“Uncomfortable yet cheap”
Reviewed 18 May 2014 via mobile

Our room was medium size with a matrimonial bed. The bed was hard and you could feel the springs. The pillows were flat, the sheets were thin and rough and so were the towels.
We were unable to sleep for 2 nights due to the excessive noise of neighbouring rooms.
There was minimal security. You have to leave your key either on the front desk or attached to your door in your room. If left on the front desk... at times the receptionist would be away with all the keys in display.
We had to leave to our luggage with them since our room wasn't ready. We were told it would be in a safe room with locks... when we came back it was in still in the hallway! That certainly is not a safe room.
Not happy with the stay. But not too terrible.

Centric location.

My wife and I stayed at Hostal Triana. First visit for her and 3rd for me (3x in 4 years). The accommodations have been consistent over time: basic, clean, comfortable and the same pleasant staff. Victor, the owner, is very helpful as are the receptionists.

Location is amazing: near Sol, Plaza Mayor and the unbelievable La Mallorquina bakery. The Gran Vía metro stop is just a couple of blocks away.

This is a gem of a find in Madrid!

We stumbled upon this hostal--it's really more like a small hotel--quite by accident and were beyond 100% happy with it!! We had a room with a balcony overlooking a small and active plaza...and spent the latter part of each evening looking off the balcony, sipping a beer and watching the activity in the plaza. It couldn't have been a more perfect way to end the day in Madrid. (And things were quiet when it was time to sleep!)

The room was perfect and the concierge spoke beautiful English (as well as French and Spanish, and who knows what else!!) and was very helpful and knowledgeable and gave us great information and helped us--without any charge--get a shuttle to the airport when it was time to leave--that was as fast or faster than a taxi, and a lot cheaper.

The hostal is very centrally located--within very easy walking distance of Puerte de Sol, Plaza Mayor, and everything else--all manner of transportation-- and an incredible variety of places to eat....If you want to do Madrid, and at a VERY reasonable price, this is the place to enjoy yourself!!

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a balcony, but even if you don't, this is just the perfect place to stay...

My bf and I stayed here for two nights while in Madrid. It was great! 49 euros a night and we had a great balcony that overlooked plaza del Carmen. It was very close to plaza del sol. Owners do not speak English so try to pick up a few words. Even though it is pretty noisy in the wee hours of the morning, Request a room with a balcony!

Room Tip: Get a balcony!

Superb location – almost everything's within walking reach. The rooms themselves are a bit small, but tasteful. Rooms were cleaned spotlessly everyday. The walls are a bit thin, so it's not completely silent if the neighbours decide to make a din. But with so much to do outside, definitely not a deal breaker. The entrance to the building also has an antique lift, we had fun using it though the hostal is on the first floor.

All said, loved staying here and we'll definitely come back. Complete value for money.

I stayed here for a long weekend. The location is excellent - very central. You can easily walk to almost everything you'd want to visit, and the metro station is nearby, so it's easy to get to and from the airport. There's lots of places to eat within a couple of minutes.

My single room was very small but spotlessly clean. It opened onto a small internal courtyard, where you won't hear any traffic noise. There may be some noise from the other flats that open onto the courtyard: loud talking and laughing, clatter of dishes, etc. Nothing you wouldn't expect, though - this is Spain, after all. It just means that if you like sleeping with the window open, you may need earplugs.

The hotel has decent security (there seems to always be someone manning the front desk) and although my room wouldn't have won any awards for luxury, the bed was perfectly fine.

All in all, a perfectly acceptable budget option for a few nights in the centre of Madrid.

This is my second stay at this hotel. The employees are so kind, friendly and helpful. The rooms
are very clean. The location is perfect for sightseeing, nightlife and shopping. Everything about this hotel feels good to me - you feel very safe and welcome from the minute you walk in the door. I highly recommend it and will definitely return.
