This restaurant is pretty tiny (only 11 or 12 tables) so it's worth arriving early evening when they open at 8ish to avoid disappointment, as half of those tables were already booked-out the night we visited. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and provide English menus if required. The menu itself is divided into 5 veggie, 5 meat, 5 fish dishes and 5 desserts, and you can either order full portions, half portions or tapas portions. This is a great idea, as it makes it possible to enjoy many of the delights on offer, regardless of how hungry you are, and the waitress was happy to advise us on how much food we should order. Every dish that came was simply delicious, and I was surprised (not to mention slightly disappointed!) that 'half portions' would fill me up so much that I wouldn't be able to fit in my favourite part of any meal - the dessert! The final bill came to less than €26 between two of us - amazing value!! Can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for great value, simple cuisine that's cooked to perfection, in a friendly, laid-back place. If I ever find myself in Madrid again, I'll be seeking Taberna Origen out again for sure.
