I was lucky enough to do a solo tour with Almudena. My reasons for wanting to do this tour... read more
Almudena took the tour even though i was the only person who wished to do it on the particular day. This was most generous of her. The tour lasted for 4 hours and the time flew by. For anyone with any sort of interest in the subject, this tour will definitely add to your understanding of the civil war. Almudena is good company and easy to get on with. She is both very knowlegable and passionate about the history of the Spanish Civil war. I am sure her other tours are of a similar high quality, and going on any of them will add to your visit to Madrid.
Almu's custom tour of the Prado for kids is amazing. Our 7yo girl had a blast. She was engaged and interested enough to ask to go back after the tour to see her favorite painting again!
Almudena is such a wonderful guide/ person! We took her tours of the Prado Museum, the Archaeological Museum and to Toledo. She is not only informative and accommodating, she managed to very successfully engage all in our group, ages from 8 years old to 70 years old! Through her, my children enjoyed themselves thoroughly and also learnt so much about the history and culture of Madrid. I have taken many other Tours for Children, but Almudena's easily tops that list!
My husband and I took Almudena's Madrid walking tour during our 3-day trip to Madrid. Almudena was passionate, engaging, and knowledgible about Madrid - its history, culture, and food. We walked through several distinct neighborhoods, she pointed out locations of literary greats such as Ernest Hemingway and Miguel Cervantes along our route, as well as some good Tapas restaurants; we also walked by the oldest restaurant in the world (per Guiness Book of World Records) "Botin", we talked about it and Almudena even went an extra mile of making a reservation for us. I would highly recommend this tour.
My husband and I took advantage of two Across Madrid tours on our first visit to Madrid. We booked an orientation tour at 10 am the morning we arrived, since we weren't sure we would be able to get into our hotel room that early. Mercedes provided just what we needed--a good mix of history, art, and food, plus a chance to familiarize ourselves with the center of the city, which made it possible for us to navigate easily on our own afterward. My husband has trouble walking for long distances, and Mercedes found places for him to sit occasionally, while continuing to tell us about the city. She could not have been more knowledgeable or personable.
Several days later we took an evening tapas tour with Almudena, who was great fun. She took us to several places we would never have found on our own, and introduced us to a variety of different types of food and drink. She was very well organized and knowledgeable and once again accommodated my husband's walking difficulties. We would not hesitate to use Across Madrid for any of their many different tours when we visit Madrid in the future.
This was the best part of our trip to Madrid! What a spectacular find!! Almudena's tour was incredible. She captivated my 13, 19 and 20 years olds and spoke to each of them on their level. The scope of her knowledge is unbelievable and her ability to hold the attention of all different age groups at the same is just a gift. We took her tour of the Prado Museum and we left just wanting to learn more. She followed up with an email review and links to different things we spoke about. My daughter summed it up best when she said she learned more in that 3 hours than all of high school and college!! Do not miss this tour!!
