“A fine small restaurant”
Reviewed 28 March 2014

With our legs throbbing from hiking all over Madrid, we saw Alkalde and stopped in for lunch. The soups and food in general were all fantastic. We were the only non-spanish speaking people in the place. I'd go again in a heartbeat.

“Madrid Foodies Dream”
Reviewed 23 March 2014

I make a point of visiting this restaurant when I visit Madrid, the food is amazing and the service is outstanding.
The menu has something for everyone, meat eaters will be in heaven, fish lovers have an equally fine choice and the appetizers are delicious.
The place is a little expensive but worth every penny and well worth a visit if want to experience a taste of Spain's finest food and wine.

Recommend the T-bone steak for 2 people served on a charcoal hob at your table...

I have eaten here many times and never been disappointed in the slightest.

“More fame than real quality”
Reviewed 1 January 2014

A few people recommended me this restaurant. Most have gone to this place because through the years and they remember the place due to its history. Probably a few years ago quality was better, but today it is just an average place to have food. It is small and well located place. Services is very good considering the amount of people in the small space, but at the end if you are going for food, this is not a top option in Madrid.

“New definition of expensive ”
Reviewed 29 October 2013 via mobile

We sat on the terrace so I cannot review the inside restaurant.
The terrace was good, excellent service, heaters (it was cold weather already).
We asked for 2 drinks, 17euro each, and then the "almejas a la marinera " (small clams), they were really good, no doubt, but the dish was 36 euro, plus 10% for eating outside, so the check was almost 60euro,and we just had a "snack".
I really like food, and I have been to more expensive places all over the world, but I dont like to be robbed.

“Very Disappointing”
Reviewed 16 September 2013

I would have given this one star for "terrible" but the single bright spot was a divine crab bisque. We ordered 5 half portions: Spanish salad, gazpacho, and lamb shank which were all mediocre and something else that was truly awful swimming in brown gravy. Charged us $6 for 2 pieces of bread. Wine was terrible and service was snobby. No one poured our wine or water throughout the meal. No one checked on us the entire time we ate. Check came to over $100 and we were completely uninspired. Avoid this restaurant.
