Description: Casa Mingo is the oldest cider house in Madrid, and possibly the oldest in Spain, since it opened in 1888, when it had not yet reached 60 years of the death of the great painter Francisco de Goya, who lighted up with his frescos the close hermitages of San Antonio de la Florida, designed by Ventura Rodriguez, also author of the Prado Museum, which you cannot miss, standing in a place that was considered as Real Site on the banks of the Manzanares river, as an extension of Campo del Moro's gardens and the rest of the Royal Palace gardens. To eat well in Madrid choose Casa Mingo. Try one of our famous roasted chicken. All accompanied by a bottle of cider to round out the menu and go home with very good taste. Do not forget, no place like Casa Mingo to eat well in Madrid.

We visited casa mingo with our two young children and ordered the chicken and salad, it's simple food but without doubt the best chicken I've tasted! The kids loved it too and they are normally fussy eaters. The cider was really nice and they even had cider cake for dessert! Definitely worth a visit.

Casa Mingo is a perfect place to enjoy great food & delicious Asturian cider (sidra) in an typical and authentic Madridlena tavern, with years of history within its walls. In addition to the classic Spanish tavern atomosphere indoors, one can also enjoy the cool breezes of a spring or summer evening seated at one of the outside tables. The queso cabrales is exquisite, and the chorizo in sidra is simply delicious. We didn't have the roast chicken, since we couldn't eat another bite, but it looked delcious. When in Madrid, Casa Mingo is a great place to soak up the local food culture in an authentic Spanish setting.

OK, so I have tried better roasted chicken, better chorizo sausages, better Spanish tortilla. However this place has been there forever, anyone in Madrid will know it, have been there, gotten drunk on cider as a student.

On Sunday lunch it is probably too crowded, too many people waiting outside to grab a table.

But it is traditional, the quality is the same as always, I can assure you. The prices have gone up: it used to be inexpensive and popular with university students. Now its not expensive but isn't the same. There are more tourists than 10 years ago, I guess guides are eager to give tips on authentic places and this is just another one of them.

I went there again last night, still a lot of people for a Monday but cozy and lively with a few tables empty.

Great to go with kids, they usually like roasted chicken. There are no chips though, just crisp but you can make up for it ordering a Spanish potato tortilla.

Took 12 business people here for dinner. Simple menu but great food. Probably the best chicken in all of Madrid. The cider is very good although they also serve beer and wine. Extremely reasonable prices. The bill for 12 people was $170 Euros which included drinks. Highly recommended.

I Ate here with my Mum & Dad on a Tuesday lunchtime in May. Their speciality is Roast Chicken & Cider, which my mum had, I chose Tortilla & salad. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. It pays to arrive a bit early because it gets very busy, and at the weekend, absolutely packed.
The service was attentive and fast. It is essential to visit the church next door before or after a visit, because it contains some incredible Goya frescoes. Would thoroughly recommend.
