This place has really good food and is popular with the locals. Ate here several times for lunch and it was always good. They even give you 1/4 liter of wine with the menu of the day. They menu of the day has a wide variety of choices. The food is presented in an imaginative way.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 May 2014

We arrived well before they opened their doors for their 830 pm dinner time. Fortunately, they invited us in & seated us by 815 (we weren't the only ones waiting).

The room is nicely decorated and the menu offered plenty of options. We both started with the squid (calamari) fries which were perfectly done. We followed that with a goat cheese salad...it had to be the best salad of our trip in Spain. I followed that with paella...um! For dessert, we shared whisky pie...to die for.

The service was excellent. The wine list complete & quite affordable. A lovely dining experience.

“Avoid at all costs”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 May 2014

I am puzzled that others have found this restaurant good or acceptable: the food is OK - probably on the good side of indifferent - but the service truly awful. The group of staff are there to have a good time with each other; not to lower themselves to the possible need of clients. It is the only place I have ever been in a long lifetime of eating out that I have not left even one penny of a tip. I am an elderly lady eating on my own, and I think you can tell a lot about an establishment by how they treat lone (especially female, elderly,) diners. Service in Spain, and Madrid especially, can be off hand, but you just have to go to other restaurants in the city to see civilised, attentive and dignified service, at a similar prices. Or friendly inclusive service at much cheaper places.
Here
- the small table was not pulled out so that I could sit down;
- no offer of a drink, even water, or a drinks menu or even a menu after 15 minutes;
- no eye contact or smile from the waitress - sullen to the point of rudeness. She couldn't wait to get away;
- no salt/pepper: impossible to get anyone's attention. Yet a group of five staff were partying away 3 or 4 metres away;
-scorn or surprise offered at choices....

I could go on. I repeat that I am used to dining out, and dining out in Madrid. I can't understand why people were pouring in here. Yes the food is acceptable and reasonably priced, but in a city of wonderful restaurants I can't understand why anyone would come here twice.
