Whether you’re a Madridista or not this stadium is worth a visit if you’re a football lover. The stadium is situated in the fancy neighbourhood of Chamartin and unlikely from most modern European stadiums it’s “squeezed” in like a block between other regular residentials despite it’s capacity of over 81 000 visitors. Built in 1955 I thought it was going to feel old and rough but it’s nothing like it and has even escalators to the top sections. The “Tour Bernabeu” is well worth the 25€ entrance and in addition to visit the club museum with all it’s cups you get to visit the pitch and sample the bench. And standing down there on the pitch looking up at all the steep sections above it’s like visiting a cathedral. At least if you love football.
