“Not terribly impressed”
Reviewed 5 March 2013 via mobile

We wandered into Dudua as it is just around the corner from where we are staying and we hoped that we might have found a gem on our doorstep. It was quite late around 11pm but that is nothing unusual in Madrid. The staff were very attentive and helpful although as usual in this city there was no high chair available for our son.
I ordered baby lamb chops and my wife had 3 textures of cod.
The lamb was well cooked but unusually seasoned which gave a smell that turned my stomach a little. The cod dish came on a long narrow plate with three compartments. Three textures of cod turned out to be three lumps of barely cooked cod doused in different sauces. There was a spicy picante sauce which was fairly pleasant, something buttery and finally a green sauce reminiscent of something you would blow into a handkerchief.
The intention seems to have been something different and creative but the reality was more like inedible. There are so many good restaurants in Madrid (try da chuchuffo's a short walk away) that there is simply no reason to give a second chance to providers of a bad meal.

“Good ingredients, good service, perhaps should avoid foraying into creative cooking”
Reviewed 25 February 2013

Being in the area for business I was dining all by myself (not a favorite, but sometimes one has no choice). I wandered into Dudua more or less on a whim. The menu affixed outside promised great meats, locally procured, and I was feeling inclined to eat meat anyways – so why not to try it.

The service was very welcoming, ready to suggest alternatives, and to please. The setting was relaxed, nice but not formal. The meat (an entrecôte) was indeed excellent, well prepared and well served. My first course (artichokes with shellfish in a black sauce) suffered a bit from a somewhat unsuccessful attempt at being creative, with a result best characterized as "unremarkable". All in all a good experience, with some caveats.

“Great place for meat lovers”

Great place! Hard to dislike anything, the stake tartar prepared in front of your eyes, the meat you prepare yourself, just great!

“Good food, very friendly staff”
Reviewed 10 June 2012

We ate in this restaurant the day we arrived in Madrid, as a recommendation. The food was amazing, and the decoration of the restaurant is typical and charming. The waiters were nice. You can pick from their daily dishes (in that case you can eat for around 10 euros) or from their menu.

“Good service, shame about the food”
Reviewed 3 May 2012

We chose this restaurant because the menu was attractive and it was close to our hotel. It was fairly empty all evening and the atmosphere unremarkable. The service was good and my friend enjoyed her veal steak (which was huge!) but her partner (who is a chef) was not overly impressed with his beef steak (which was average in size) and the sole I had was dry. My complete meal was warm rather than hot. In summary, over priced and we would not return. There are much less expensive superior resaurants in Madrid.
