This place is responsible for the best meal I've had in Spain. We had the menu del dia, which was great value at €12.50. We had:
- bread with delicious Asturian blue cheese
- an outstanding bean stew with chorizo and black pudding (as a starter)
- a sort of fish tortilla (more like an omelette in consistency than the more solid Spanish tortillas that I'm used to); and a sort of glazed pork rib dish.
They offered us dessert but there was no way we could have eaten it we were so full.
The crowd was an interesting mix of people of all ages and backgrounds.
Overall this place is definitely worth the easy walk from the galleries or other parts of central Madrid that you might be visiting.
(As a minor point, note that the waiter didn't speak English and as we don't speak Spanish we struggled to communicate a bit, but we got there in the end).
