Having read all the excellent reviews for this restaurant, we were really looking forward to having a meal to celebrate a special birthday however we came away feeling rather disappointed. Firstly, one of our friends was not feeling too great and only wanted a small portion but when he asked the waitress she straight out said he had to have a full portion (without even asking the chef). He asked her if he could just have some pasta with tomato sauce and again she refused to enquire and said it wasn't possible. Then the waiter brought the bottle of house wine we had ordered, uncorked it and plonked it on the table - he didn't offer any of us a taste which we all thought was rather unprofessional.
The food: I had a salmon and seafood pasta in cream sauce which was very nice but my husband ordered a filet steak in pepper sauce, which was quite expensive, It arrived, swimming in a thin "pepper" sauce and it was fairly tasteless. One of our friends had a duck risotto - she was expecting it to come with small pieces of duck in a creamy risotto but it was more like a casserole! The duck was minced and there was quite a lot of liquid plus it was very salty and she left most of it.
Dessert was good but we had to wait quite a long time for it. All in all we were not impressed, especially as we had eaten the previous day at La Catedral - by far one of the best restaurants I have eaten at in Spain. Maybe they were having a bad day - who knows but this was our experience and we would not recommend it to anyone.

“A Touch of Italy in Spain”
Reviewed 5 February 2014

This is an excellent restaurant that we visit every time we are in Cartagena. It has a very Italian feel with the décor and ambience but is managed by Spanish staff. Great quality food and service and not very expensive considering the overall quality of the restaurant. Like the Spanish it is often best to share the different plates on the menu. The pizza's are very large and some of the best I have seen and eaten. The pasta dishes and choices are superb as are the choice of wines etc. It is hidden just behind the Museum a very short distance from the Port in the centre of Cartagena just off the Calle Mejor. Excellent for lunch or dinner. Does not open until 13.00 for lunch. Well worth a visit.

“Good lunch”
Reviewed 28 January 2014 via mobile

Sitting in here enjoying a rather large pizza & tagliatelle tarfuto e funghi. Bit on the expensive side for spain though. Can take home left overs, portions are quite large.

“We always return here for lunch!”
Reviewed 16 December 2013 via mobile

We visited La Tagliatella on Saturday 14th December with 4 friends and we all loved the food and ambience of the restaurant. The food is always great, the portions are large so you can share starters and mains. We are regular visitors to Spain and always manage lunch in this restaurant! No doubt we will be back! The staff are always friendly and helpful.

Was directed here after finding our orginal destination closed for food, and wow, what a place, manager spoke english and made wine and food recommendations. Food was delicious, and punctual and the desserts amazing. Couldn't fault it.
