This is a great hotel for position, it has great car parking on site, and is very central to the city, close to all the bars and restaurants and for all the city shopping.
Close to the Arsenal ( naval base ) it is just two minutes walk to the centre of the city , and only ten minutes walk to the port , where you can see the tourist boats, and the cruise liners moored.
The hotel has a spa , which for a small cost you can use throughout your stay, a great place to visit you won't be disappointed

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear of the hotel, main road to the front

The Husa Cartagonova hotel is just on the edge of the pedestrian area of the old town - a wonderful location from which to explore Cartagena. The room while not large was efficiently organized with a good working area for a computer.
However, the first thing I noticed when I entered the hotel was a musty smell that I associate with old, neglected buildings, dampness and mold. (Thankfully, this smell did not extend to our room.) As we were leaving, a man was vacuuming the lobby and the vacuum was shooting out dust and an unpleasant odour which definitely didn`t help the smell problem.
It may have been a language issue but the staff was not very warm or welcoming either on arrival or departure. The hotel is reasonably priced but don`t expect 4-star ambiance or treatment even if 4 stars are shown on their sign.

Stayed for 3 nights in October, the room was very nice. It was spacious, clean and had everything we needed.

If you are planning on using the gym, do not bother, it is very poorly equipped with dated, unmaintained equipment. As for the Spa - the jacuzzi was nice, the steam room was room temperature, the sauna was also pretty mild. Definitely not worth visiting!!!

When trying to check out, we were confronted with a €60 charge for using the spa twice, we had no treatments and only used the jacuzzi on the second time for a bit of downtime! After raising our concerns with a man who said he was the manager, we were getting nowhere!!! No costs were communicated to us when we asked for spa robes and there were no price lists visible!! Absolutely appaulling that for a hotel that was not cheap to book in the first place that you have to pay to use below par facilities!

Would not return based on the rudeness of the staff we encountered and the ridiculous charge to use something that should come as standard!

The hotel is very nice, but unfortunately the receptionist did not seem to speak english.
The room was beautiful (a little too gray, but tastes and colors), and the bed extremely comfy. Bath pack includes toothbruth and toothpaste.
Breakfast was good, and the overall price is quite low for this kind of quality.

The hotel is near the center, we had the celebration from "Cartagenes y Romanos" 2 streets away. The roman theater isn't too far either, as with a lot of restaurants.

The parking may be full and you cannot book it, and you can't park on the "brown" parking places. You need to find a green parking spot, there are a few right next to the armada wall (big, yellow and white) on the other side of the street.

Room Tip: Take the superior room, the bed is huge

Admit to stopping at this hotel on the off chance of a room. Gent behind the desk gave the impression that he wished the hotel was fully booked to save him having to book us in! Room was classed as suite but would argue the case on that! Over looked a courtyard of private apartments which proved to be very busy during the night, a lot of noise! Gent behind reception was in no better humour at time of check out!

Hotel was great, clean and simple. Despite being on the 6th floor, it was noisy through the night at times as it is a city centre location.

The Spa was a real disappointment. It was not relaxing or worth the money. The Jacuzzi was so small only 2 people could fit in it. The cold foot spray sprayed over onto the jacuzzi. The sauna's temperature was dangerously high (because the door had been closed a long time) and the steam room was dirty. That was it, and it was closed over lunch, so sharing it with 16 other people at 5 o'clock when it opened wasn't worth the hassle and waiting around. We had a bath in our hotel instead! We were shocked that Balneario put their name to it. It is nothing like the Archena Spa.
