“Just delightful ......”
Reviewed 2 January 2014

Staying at La Joya is like finding treasure - a true jewel nestled in the dramatic and spectacular countryside of Murcia.
We stayed in the beautifully appointed El Cactus suite which was spacious, spotless and had everything we could possibly need. The attention to detail is evident in every room from the luxurious bedding and towels to the well equipped kitchen and comfortable lounge area. There was not a single thing we could fault.
Llanos and Asis are not only very professional hosts they are also the most delightful people you could wish to meet. Their warm and friendly welcome immediately made us feel at home and they went out of their way to ensure that our stay was memorable. They are both extremely generous with their time and their local knowledge and this allowed us to take advantage of all that was on offer in the area. We will always remember our late afternoon stroll with them through the citrus grove complete with tasting and history of the fruit pulled from the trees along the way.
The breakfasts were fresh and delicious with different treats each day and served by the smiling and lovely Llanos. Each evening we sat outside enjoying a glass of wine and soaking up the amazing ambience of this secluded and very special place - we could not have wished to be anywhere else.
We stayed 3 nights but wished we could have stayed longer. There is far more to see and do in this area than we imagined. We enjoyed every moment of our stay and were sad to leave. We would love to return to Spain and, if we do, La Joya would be a must on our itinerary.
Thank you Llanos, Asis and our beautiful Mati - this was certainly a highlight of our trip !

Room Tip: They are all fantastic !

what a nice surprise and enchanting place. We loved La Joya, nestled in with all the orange and lemon trees. Great hospitality of the owners Llanos and Asis who go the extra mile to make your stay special. They give you tipps and organize whatever you like to do during your stay. And what a variety of leasure options there are, we were rather surprised. We can recommend to anyone who seeks to relax, enjoy and discover the lovely surroundings at the same time. We stayed at la Joya for our mini-honeymoon in May. It was absolutely perfect.
We went from grey and rainy London to a sunny and warm oasis in Murcia.

We arrived on a clear evening, illuminated by the full moon, and as we drove over the last hill on our way from the airport, we could see the welcoming lights of la Joya nestled in the valley. We stepped out of the car to find ourselves surrounded by the intense fragrance of the lemons and orange blossom from the citrus trees filling the valley. After all the excitement of the wedding, La Joya was the perfect place to relax, take in the beautiful landscape and recover before coming back to London.

The cottage/apartments are of a very high standard. We stayed at the Cactus, which was clean and full of light, comprising of a good sized double bedroom, huge bathroom, and big kitchen, dining and living space, with a terrace outside. Llanos and Asis showed us the other two – one with 2 rooms and the other a Maroccan tent structure, but insulated and will all mod cons. The thing that you notice immediately is the attention to detail, and all the personal touches from Llanos and Asis make the place special and truly unique. Everything has been thoughtfully considered and tailored to your needs to make your stay enjoyable.

Llanos and Asis were incredibly welcoming and fantastic hosts. Both lived in New York and are fluent in English. They showed us around the beautiful villages of the Valle del Ricote and recommended great places to eat and visit. Food in the area is delicious, a fusion of Spanish and Arabic cuisine. Remember to try la Joya's breakfast, which includes freshly picked and squeezed orange juice from the trees outside. And of course don't miss the lemon gin and tonic tasting, flavoured with sweet fresh lemons.

So romantic! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would recommend highly.

Room Tip: All the rooms all fantastic! I love the HAYMAH, but all equally amazing.

I hate generic luxury hotels where you're not a name and just a number and try as they might to get the service right, it just feels like you're being watched all the time. La Joya is none of these things. The hotel itself is beautiful, from the standard and size (HUGE) of rooms and bathrooms, the setting is amazing, but what really stands out at La Joya are the owners. Llanos and Asis are just the most lovely people you could wish to meet, who really can't do enough for you and theit attention to detail is incredible. Having said that, this does not mean that they are constantly looking over your shoulder because that is not the case. The ambiance of La Joya is one of staying at a good friends place for the weekend and you feel absolutely relaxed, welcome and comfortable.

Any of the rooms are gorgeous, the area around is unspoilt and easy to explore. Do yourself a favour and book in here, but only if you're really serious about staying somewhere you can totally relax and unwind.

The scenery is absolutely breathtaking and the hosts are incredibly thoughtful – attentive but leave you to it when you need your own space and time. Each of the apartments have their own style and character, not to mention stunning views of the orange groves and surrounds. We didn't have enough time here so hope to go back next year to explore the region properly and sample more of the hosts G&Ts by sundown. Bliss!

Do not miss the Ricote valley´s jewel ( the “Joya del Valle de Ricote”) if like me, you're sick of asphalt , concrete and traffic jams ... the “Joya” is the perfect place to relax. I´ll give you 3 reasons to go:
First, the facilities: The “Joya” is a lovely and charming accommodation with two adjoining houses decorated with exquisite taste. Although for me, the “jewel in the crown” is the Ibn Arabi´s Haymah, an authentic Berber tent. It is my recommendation.
Second, the environment: The farm where the “Joya” is located, exhibits over 8,000 orange and lemon trees surrounding you. In addition, the Ricote Valley is a lovely and beautiful paradise, watered by the river Segura, with charming villages as Ricote, Blanca, Ulea , Ojós or Villanueva and wonderful restaurants as “El Sordo” or “Atempo”. Do not miss either the nearby SPA-resort of Archena.
And third, the owners of the “Joya”, Llanos and Asis, who have taken care to the last detail to make the “Joya” a lovely place, from the exquisite decoration for romantic dinners to delicious gin and tonics. Your stay will be unforgettable. Do not miss it, I plan to return, for sure.

Room Tip: Something different and exciting: The Ibn Arabi´s Haymah, an authentic Berber tent

We have stayed two nights at "La Joya" and has been an excellent experience. Two nights with breakfast and booking a romantic dinner at La Haymah. The truth is that I have no words to express such kindness, such good service, quality and so so quiet, except saying that back many times as we can.
I recommend booking dinner and, above all, order the duck, which is incredibly good.
Llanos and Asís Thanks for making us feel at home, you are a wonderful people and some have one of the best accommodations in Murcia in a place with lots of charm, which is worth visiting merce, Ricote Valley.

Room Tip: Definitely La Haymah, but all are great
