“Lunch at Irun”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

Very disappointed. This cafe comes highly recommended in travel guides; Ernest Hemmingway used to frequent here.

Living on past glory a bit. Service was indifferent and while the beer was cold the Pinxtos were very stale; arguably 24+ hours old. A poor outcome and not one Hemmingway would attach his name to today.

“Much better than I expected”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

The cafe is situated on a main tourist square and the lunch menu is €13,90. We decided to try the cafe as it looked interesting and the menu had a reasonable range of choices. The interior is almost the epitome of faded grandeur and the atmosphere of the place matches. However the meal was excellent, the choice of drinks is beer, water or wine, in spite of one of us having water we were given a bottle of wine. The menu has a range of options and there is a supplement for a (large) steak or lamb. The food we had was well presented, very enjoyable and the service was professional. All in all a very pleasant lunch and we would go again.

“Great food and interior.”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

On a beautiful day I can't think of a better place to enjoy a good meal and take in the atmosphere.
The day was beautiful and the food was even better!
Two good meals with drinks for less than €30.
Staff went out of their way to help.

“Amazing good, beautiful restaurant. recommended!”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

I first went to cafe iruna 8 years and remember a great menu del dia. It was therefore a natural choice when we returned. The menu is such good value for money with lots if options for each course. The food is great, fresh and tasty. The service can be a little hit and miss but generally ok. It is located right in the centre in the main plaza so is great to sit outside on a sunny day. Would most definitely recommend. Not to be missed!

“San Fermin 2014 ”
Reviewed 13 July 2014 via mobile

We saw two sides of this iconic cafe. In the middle of the night during the San Fermin, Cafe Iruna is a club-like bar with loud techno and ton of dancing and celebrating. Not sure how Hemingway would've felt about this but nonetheless, it was a surprising how it transformed by morning. It's such a beautiful restaurant. So timeless. We ate here after running with the bulls the same morning and the bacadillo's were delicious. The calimochos (wine and coke), traditional festival drinks, were also great, as well as the coffee. It wasn't even as expensive as I expected being as though it's so famous. Certainly memorable. I'll never forget it. You mustn't go to Pamplona without stopping in to see what it's all about.
