Description: In a picturesque setting on a quiet rural lane, British Larder offers traditional British cuisine with a contemporary edge, and a passion for sourcing superb produce from the Suffolk region. There is outside seating for al fresco dining. Rustic yet modern, the cosy interior at The British Larder restaurant in Suffolk features exposed brickwork, an open fire, wooden beams and an impressive bar. The seasonal British Larder menu uses locally sourced produce wherever possible, and changes on a daily basis, making best use of the fine, fresh ingredients. Sample dishes include sea bass carpaccio with coriander, lime and fennel salad, Orford-Ness lobster and Loch Duart salmon macaroni or Riverside beef with Aspall Cyder roasted shallots, Yorkshire pudding and duck fat roasted potatoes. There is a good selection of wines by the glass and an indulgent dessert menu. Near Woodbridge, The British Larder Suffolk is a fine gastro pub, open 7 days a week.

“This is how it should be done”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

Stylish, comfortable, elegant venue. Menu entirely focused on local, seasonal, ethical etc and delivered beautifully on the plate. Portions v decent and price fixe menu extremely good value. Birthday cake (ordered in advance) was a four tier stunner. Great service throughout. Majority of wine list available by the glass and in 3 sizes too - a rare choice. Books, cookery school, jam and pickles available to buy. All good. Thank you all at The British Larder - our family group included 3 birthdays and we were all delighted. Will definitely be back...

“Excellent food and service. Absolutely worth the visit. ”
Reviewed 5 August 2014 via mobile

We hadn't been here for about a year but had really enjoyed it then, so since we were in the area we took the opportunity to try it again. We were so glad we had.
We stopped for lunch, but without a reservation. We were greeted warmly on our arrival and offered a choice of tables. We chose to sit inside although there are tables outside on the terrace which looked comfortable and very pleasant. Menus were provided quickly and service was fast, pleasant and efficient. There is a fixed price menu at £17 with 2 choices for each course, or an a la carte menu. We couldn't find what we liked in the fixed menu so chose from the a la carte. There is a separate choice of four sandwiches in the bar area if you want something light.
All the food was outstanding. It really is fine dining.
A must if you are in the area.

“WORTH HUNTING OUT”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We remember these premises when they were, frankly, a tatty old pub. Now, however, the place has been transformed into a very pleasant, modern, airy restaurant where the people, the food and the atmosphere are fresh and well worth hunting for and devouring.

“Out trip to Suffolk wasn't wasted”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

We found ourselves in Suffolk staying at Hintlesham Hall for a short break. Our first night meal there was less than impressive so there were lots of expectation placed on the British Larder. Thankfully they didn't let us down. Everything about the place was spot on. The food, imaginative, tasty and very well presented. The staff, very efficient, knowledgable and friendly. The place was a joy.

We had the summer tasting menu, which for £75 a head including wine was a steal. I hope they have an autumn and winter tasting menu, if they do we will be traveling to Suffolk from London to sample it. Well done the British Larder.

“Very Pleasant”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

Had lunch here on a nice hot day and sat out on the terrace which is a very pleasant place to spend an hour or so with a cool drink and nice food. The food offering is good if you want a formal meal but limited if you want a sandwich or similar. Service is good and food is well cooked. Will return if in the area.
