As a family of four we spent two weeks at Villa Del Mar (6th to 20th July). The hotel is in a good location close to the Old Town and directly across from the beach, Our rooms were on levels 4 and six with a view of the beach. Only disappointment was the small swimming pool however the sunbeds on level 9 was fabulous. Staff were very friendly and we would recommend this hotel.

Dear Ian016:

Thank you very much for sharing your opinion with others travellers.
We appreciate this comments because they help us to improve day by day.
Besides being close to the center, we have a large pool right in front of the hotel, an amazing beach.
We hope to see you again.

Ok the good points first.

The food (very important to me on an all-inclusive holiday) was fantastic. I know there are a couple of reviews on here that moan about the food, and I met a couple of people during our stay who said there was not enough choice. I just can’t believe these sorts of comments. The choice was great, with at least four different types of meat in varying dishes, plus three or four fish choices, plus pasta options, many salad options, potatoes, veg, bread etc. etc. and even chips (if you miss them ). These sorts of options were available lunch and dinner EVERY day of the week. Breakfast was also fantastic with plenty of choice. It’s not just the choice though, the quality was also much higher than I expected. Steak, chicken and tuna steaks were three highlights for me. Honestly though, if you don't like this food, then you do not like food, I challenge you to find better food in Benidorm.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The rooms (we had 3) were all spotless and very comfortable. In reply to an earlier comment - Some TV channels are English but you need to change this in menu options with the remote or else the audio is dubbed Spanish.

Location - The hotel is located in the old town, that’s the Spanish end of Benidorm as opposed to the British new town end. Therefore its pretty quiet in terms of entertainment, its quieter and the guests are mostly Spanish. This is in no way a bad thing, but I mention it because not all of Benidorm is the same, the old town and new town are very different. The beach is a matter of seconds to walk from the hotel, and is spotlessly clean. You can walk to the new town area in 20 to 30 minutes easily.

Bad points - The pool area is too small, and the amount of umbrellas is a joke, 6 between 30 or so sunbeds. Finding shade is hard. Some of the sunbeds are also a little old and tired.

There isn’t a comfortable lounge type bar/area, so you either sit outside the entrance on the outside cafe/bar area or go to the roof top terrace.

The entertainment was poor, and starts very late. The late start is due to the fact the Spanish eat late, but I mention it because it might matter to you.

All in all we had a fantastic time, top quality food, smart clean rooms, and very good staff. Would I go to this hotel again?...Yes provided they got more umbrellas and made the entertainment room on level -1 into a plush comfortable lounge, something I really think this hotel misses.

If food is number one on your list of prioraties then you will love this hotel. Chef William and his team managed to produce a varied choice of extremely tender and moist cuts of meat which were full of flavour. The same could be said about the fish. After 14 nights I was still enjoying the menu. The wine also came in a bottle (red wine was a little too cool, small moan). A very family orientated hotel which may put off couples or single guests. The swimming pool though very nice (bring your own towels) only had 34 or so sun-loungers and there were only 6 umbrellas and no other shade. People have complained about this so management may take notice but I would not return there without checking this out. The biggest disappointment personally, was the lack of a lounge to sit and have a nice quiet drink. There was an outside cafe/bar area and a wonderful rooftop sun terrace with bar which is where the entertainment took place (which didn't start until 10.30, this was because the Spanish eat very late). Apart from the restaurant there was no waiter service. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I was very pleasantly surprised at the wonderful modern shower, not expected in Spain. Cleanliness at the hotel was firstclass.

Room Tip: The top floor may hear noise from the evening entertainment. The hotel does not have any balconies...

Day 3 of our 14 day holiday - we'll fully update when we return home.

Initial impressions very good. Excellent introduction at Reception, very informative and welcoming with a glass of cava.

Rooms as described and well presented, however lack of British television channels a little disappointing.

Food quality and choice excellent with good service.

The rooftop bar is something special with a really chilled ambiance and wonderful sea views.

What an amazing hotel! stayed for 7 nights from the 23rd of June, My husband & myself and a group of friends/couples with teenagers. When we arrived received sparkling Cava, warm friendly reception. The room we were allocated was 301, 3rd floor, we booked a standard room but we were given an upgrade, a sea view with Jacuzzi, thank you Villa Del Mar for upgrading our room which was absolutely amazing! stunning! and a lovely surprise!

The rooftop area of the hotel is wonderful, soft chill out music, bar open till midnight, all branded drinks too, the staff are extremely hard working and would like to say a very big thank you for the service and hospitality we received.

The restaurant is brilliant, breakfast is absolutely delicious, something for everyone! Dinner is wonderful, lots of variety and the standard is excellent, the staff again could not do enough for you, however would be better if there were one or two extra bar staff when it comes to drinks with your meal.

The pool on the 2nd floor is excellent too, loved the beds in the pool, just what you need to cool you down after it a little hot sun! Bliss! Our weather was superb! in the 30's all week.
There is a bar here too which serves slush drinks, again good for cooling you down and they are amazing, adults can have there's mixed with a dash of rum, delicious and refreshing, you can ask for crisps, they supply these in a little dish, nice touch too!

Myself and one of my friend's tried the Spa on the rooftop, this was an amazing and relaxing experience, I would thoroughly recommend as you receive 1 free hour, there is a swedish sauna, turkish bath, pool with various jacuzzi/spa options, two waterfalls, one like a wave/waterfall, stand under and feel the massage, the other is like a single pour of water, stronger flow, it feels wonderful! Came out smiling and relaxed, loved it!

We are all very much looking forward to returning to The Villa Del Mar, will be booking very soon, missing very much already! The beach was so fabulous and just across the road, to swim in the sea is just fantastic.

Thank you again to THe Villa Del Mar for making our holiday the best holiday ever, see you all again next year! Can't wait!
