“FABULOUS HOTEL AAAAA++”
Reviewed 5 April 2014

What a fabulous family run hotel right in the centre of the old town of Benidorm. We had upgraded our room which was at a minimal cost and were very pleased with the size of our bedroom. All mod cons and a lovely refurbished bathroom. Very comfy beds and we even had a little balcony. We were so impressed, we booked some more flights to return for a week in October and have booked a room with a terrace this time as it will be a bit warmer in October than in February. All the staff were really pleasant and helpful and we only booked bed and breakfast and the choice and quality of the food was extremely good,

The hotel is in the vicinity of all the lovely tapas bars and a short walk to the harbour, maybe around 5 minutes. If you want to walk to the new town, this is just down the hill to the sea front!

I have a feeling that whoever stays at this little gem of a hotel will be back so book early as I think this hotel is certainly getting more popular :-)

This hotel is tucked away in a quiet part of the old town, just up from tapas alley. Excellent value for money extremely clean and a nice breakfast. Family run and very friendly. We would definitely return as this time it was only a weekend.

Room Tip: we were on the second floor there is a lift I don't think any room would have much views becaus...

We stayed here for six nights at the end of March. It was our fourth visit to Benidorm but the first time in a small hotel in the old town. It is situated in a mainly pedestrianised area close to the tapas bars restaurants and night clubs but in a very quiet street. We chose a superior room with terrace on the fourth floor. It had a large balcolny with sun in the morning and views over the roof tops of the old town ( not very picturesque!) The hotel has recently been refurbished and the room was very attractively furnished and spotlessly clean. There is a large wall-mounted TV but no English-speaking channels which may be a disappointment for some guests especially in the winter months.
The hotel is privately owned by a family who all share in the work from reception to service at breakfast. They speak good English and are all very helpful, smiling and friendly. They
enjoy talking to the guests and nothing is too much trouble.
We especially enjoyed the breakfasts with a great choice of freshly baked breads and pastries
hot dishes, fruit and cereals.
If you are looking for a very special hotel in the most interesting and convenient location in Benidorm choose the Rocamar - a very different experience from staying in the typical large
beach hotels of this resort

Room Tip: Rooms on the fourth floor have larger balcolnies and sun for part of the day

Fantastic location in a central quiet lane of the old town.No traffic noise,no loud music,or shouting if you choose to stay here, its bliss.Having said that within a minute or so you can be in two of the best bars in benidorm,Omaras and Olivers or sat in Tapas alley,an equally short walk towards the sea will get you sat in mojitas cocktail bar,to watch the sunset. Also right smack by the hotel is Cafe Michael, which is fast getting a reputation as being the finest place to eat,if you fancy a good roast,or home made savoury pie and the like.It really couldnt be better situated.
The Rocamar is i think what people now call a boutique style bed and breakfast establishment, and as one fellow guest said to me,you can just imagine it being situated in a fashionable area of London, and be able to charge a couple of hundred quid a night for.A taxi can drop you off almost right outside your door,or if you have arrived by coach you will have to make the short 5 minute or so walk up from the bus stops by dove park, and hotel Marl Bleu.Just walk into the start of the town then second right up the small lane where Rays chippy is located. On arrival we were met by the friendly lady owner who speaks perfect english,i was asked if we would like to see a range of rooms that were available,a short tour followed and we chose 405,which was smaller than the rooms they class as "superior",but had a big balcony with chairs table and sun lounger(note * you only get the sun am on this side of the hotel*)it may suit but i will be staying the other side when i return. So anyway i did get to see a good selection of rooms and can honestly say all were impressive, but i do like to sit outside a lot.
Everywhere is kept ultra spotlessly clean,by a lovely friendly lady who trys very hard to converse with you.I asked for extra pillows and a kettle when i first saw her,and within two minutes she was knocking on the door with the items and a couple of mugs,so take your own tea and coffee. The room was tastfully furnished,a really good bed and super walk in shower.Massive really white fluffy towels, were replaced every day, together with soaps and gells etc and 3 toilet rolls at one stage, air con, heater, safe, fridge and hair dryer all included,so no hidden extras whatsoever, but i did pay an extra 4 euros a night for the bigger balcony.
The television situation could be better, loads of tv and radio channels but not one in english, they should try and rectify this as the majority of guests whilst i was there were british.I found the breakfast to be great as much as you want, they have all the teas and instant coffee available,if you want the perculated stuff from the machine the lovely lady in attendance will give you a pod,but only one at a time, and then she will come round asking if you want another, strange that, but the coffee was nice. The bread and pastries are cooked overnight by the evening doorman (very safe and secure place) so that was a lovely smell when i occasionly staggered back the few yards from Olivers in the early hours. You will have to sit down in the lounge/libary area if you want to get wifi, but the seats are really comfortable and its very quiet, there is a little bar but never saw it open, but you wont need it.
As for the old town it just gets better and better,i wont comment on the other end, shame.
If you think you like the sound of the place, try and book it soon because most of our fellow guests including us were trying to get something in October/November its got a really good name in the Old Town and all eating/drinking establishments were recomending it to customers.

Room Tip: when you book ask for a room with bigger balcony that gets the sun afternoon and evening

Booked a superior room and got a room kitted out for the disabled complete with wetroom, handrails etc. The balcony was very tiny and it was impossible to sit out on it. We were on the 3rd floor which begs the question in case of fire and unable to use lifts how a disabled person would be helped downstairs and out of the building. Anyway, room was very clean if not what we expected, breakfast was adequate. Seemed to be some problem with supplying us with adequate toilet paper....one of the most basic things to replenish when making up a room. The staff were very nice and unobtrusive and all in all we had a good week. Would I stay again? Not sure.

We as a family of 5 stayed here between 1/3/2014 and 4/3/2014.The hotel has been refurbished to a high standard and is immaculately clean. No part of the hotel was dirty or old not even the lifts. The breakfast in the morning was lovely and the staff cannot do enough to help you. They are the friendliest staff I have come across in any hotel we have stayed at.My only gripe is they I would like tea and coffee facilities in the room but that is only me.As the rooms are white washed and spotless maybe I can understand that it reduces any possibility of Staines on the walls.Location is superb no complaints at all there.I would recommend anyone looking to stay here book because it is well worth it.If and when I return to the old town this will be the hotel I choose.Hats off to the team of rocamar for providing us with a superb stay thank.
