“Excellent hotel in a prime location”
Reviewed 5 April 2011

My wife and I together with my brother and his wife stayed at this hotel for a week during March. I was a bit sceptical about going to Benidorm. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the Don Pancho hotel which was only a block from the lovely seafront and promenade. I have travelled extensively at various classes of hotels but I have to say that this hotel was excellent. The rooms were spotless and the beds comfortable with the maid service excellent. The restaurant, food and service was more than excellent and the quality and variety of the food on offer was unbelievably good.. The hotel was centrally located close to all the bars and nightclubs and the value in these establishments was good with excellent artists and musicians, all for free. Overall I rated this holiday as very rewarding.

We have just returned last saturday. Weather was beautiful blue skies everyday and the resort was busy, which was great. Don Pancho was exactly what i expected. Dated decor, mixed age group and great food. Although the hotel decor is dated everywhere is spotlessly clean. Staff in the main were friendly and helpful. Benidorm was busy and we had many a good night out at the local bars, western, stardust and the town. In the day we always walked to the old town and had lunch at one of the tapas bars. Glug of wine and a tapas 1euro ! Brilliant. All in all a great week. Don pancho food was good and you may look at other hotels that may be newer/updated but there is always a compromise. I would stay at the Don Pancho again. We had 17th floor room which gave great views !

the location of the hotel is excelent however the quality of the service leaves a lot to be desired. You can wait at the bar for over 15 mins waiting to be served. The rooms are although very clean dated and it is imposible to dry you hair properly as there is no socket in the bedroom and if you try the bathroom the light is terrible also it is not practical to dry you hair standing up unless it is very short. The choice of food for your evening meal was very limited although the service was OK. All of the rooms have a good view but if you are on a high floor you can wait quite a while for a lift and there are 5. If you want to watch the entertainment be prepared for the fact you can't talk as you can't even hear yourself think its so loud.

We went to Benidorm with a little trepidation, we were pleasantly surprised. Although we would not go in high season for a break at this time of year it was great. We chose the Hotel Don Pancho after lots of research on trip adviser and were very impressed. It is in a great position just one street back from the beach and there was nothing about the hotel that we would complain about. We did not get involved with the entertainment so were not disappointed, as we preferred to walk down to the sea front and have a couple of drinks in one of the many bars. I f you want live acts and lively nightlife it can be found but a little way back from the hotel so we chose not to go there. Our room was very comfortable and the food was good, we never had a problem finding something nice to eat at every meal. We would definitely return to this lovely hotel but only at this time of year as we would not want to be in Benidorm at high season. One last point, there was never a problem getting a table in the restaurant as it was very spacious but it amused us how some of the more mature guests had to sit at the same table at every meal and would be outside the restaurant at 7-30am waiting for the doors to open at 8-00 !!!!!!!! On our last morning we checked out before breakfast so we could then eat and be ready to leave so we were at the restaurant early, but were nearly last entering the room because all the same people rushed in front of us just to get the same table, which we thought was a little rude, but that is nothing to do with the hotel and we would have thought that these people were old enough to know better!!!!!!

We needed to escape the wonderful english Winter for a quick no hassle week away in a warmer climate. Our local airport was flying to Alicante and so in total desperation we decided to stay in Benidorm (yukkkkk!!!) and as usual took advice from all TA reviewers and selected the Don Pancho.
Definitely for the Mature visitor this hotel has to be the best choice for all of the reasons you can read from other contributors. No point in me re-stating them - they are accurate - everything at this hotel is at an accceptable level.
We met several Mature guests who stay at this hotel during the winter, 2 to 3 month stays. thay have all done their homework, they have visited and stayed at most other Benidorm hotels and chosen the Don Pancho.
Actually Benidorm was ok at this time of the year, we even managed to sunbathe a couple of hours on three days.
To correct a previous reviewer, the drink prices in the Entertainment areas are the same price as the ground floor bar for the hotel residents. Just show the room card when ordering drinks. Yes the price list does show 6.5 euros for a beer in the Entertainment area and this is designed to recover a contribution from non-residents towards the cost of providing Free Entertainment and a Dance area.
I do not recommend this hotel to younger more active travellers, the atmosphere is at a slower pace, the cabaret at the Don Pancho every night was pathetic unless you like ballroom type dancing and jugglers who drop their props every other throw. Their choice of the touring acts needs to be improved.
As a quick winter escape from a local airport it worked. Yes we would would do it again and yes would select the Don Pancho.

We stayed at the Don Pancho for 1 week from 14th March and can honestly say that it is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in (including 5* in London and Paris). The beds are easily the most comfortable we have ever had in Spain and the food was absolutely fabulous, I cannot believe that anyone could not find something to suit their taste, and the waiters and waitresses are so friendly and helpful. All the reception staff that we had dealings with were very efficient and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. There are loads of sunbeds on a large terrace and I would say that the only negative point is that the pool is very small and would not suit people who like to spend a lot of time in the water, especially in peak season, however the beach is only 100 meters away. The hotel is ideally placed for all the lively pubs and clubs but the soundproofing is excellent and once in the bedroom you cannot hear a sound. For a very good night out we would recommend the UK Comedy Club, come out of the front of the hotel and turn right and take the first right again, it's about 200 meters along on the right and has wheelchair access for anyone who is disabled. The drinks are quite reasonably priced and admission is free.
If you are going to the Don Pancho have a great time, and look out for the Cava and Caviar at breakfast on Sundays.
