I didnt think this was a 4* ,, complex was lovely, couldnt fault it at all,, Maid service brilliant,,Food very good except for the meat,, waiter service exellent,, the room was a massive dissapointment, small, 2 single beds pushed together for a married couple and dated decoration,, I expected a better standard of room for a 4* hotel,, no kettle etc Alex Polizzi would have had a fit!, bathroom basic but servicable,,,
bus provided by hotel for leaving you into town and back was great as hotel is at the top if a steep hill walk,, and its a vital service,,
evening entertainment was bland, Pool fantastic,,
im back one week and Benidorm fantastic ive booked to return but not for this hotel,,,

Room Tip: As soon as I saw the room I asked for a change but was told all rooms were the same and I was all inclusive,,,

We returned today from a weeks' stay at the Palm Beach Hotel in Benidorm from 22 May to 29 May 2014.

Having read the reviews we were a little apprehensive about the hotel but we couldn't really fault it!

We arrived at 12:30 in time for lunch on the Thursday and was quickly booked into the hotel, given our wrist bands, room card and directed to our room. We asked for a high room as I can't stand it when you get people above you that scrap and move furniture around in the middle of the night. We were in room 926 overlooking the pool and the other high rise hotels, a fantastic spot. The room had air conditioning and a nice sunny balcony in the afternoon/evening. Yes the rooms are a little dated but at the end of the day you are only in there to sleep! The room was cleaned every day by a lovely cheerful maid who was always singing! Towels were nice and clean and didn't look old. The bathroom had a hairdryer and shampoo, conditioner, soap, shower cap and sponge, so if you don't want to take all the toiletries, use the ones in the room, that way you have more weight available in your suitcase for the shopping! It had a bidet, toilet and a shower over the bath which was always hot. TIP: Don't keep your room key near your mobile as it wipes the card and you need to get it reset by reception!

There are 3 lifts of a max of 4 people, however SOME people like to squash in like sardines, not my idea of fun, however they always worked and we didn't have to wait long.

Lunch is served from 1.00 - 3.30 daily and has a lot to choose from ranging from meats, soups, salads and good old chips if you want them. The fruit was always very fresh and the watermelon was delicious. You need to be covered if you go for lunch and not wear swimwear only. They serve drinks at the table in glasses not plastic cups like in the bar. Tubs of vanilla, strawberry or chocolate ice cream is available free all day from inside the bar and also in the restaurant. Queues at meal times were fine, try to avoid busiest times after 20.00.

Evening meals are served 19.00 - 22.00 and again I couldn't fault the food. Always fresh and hot. Our best meal had to be chicken and mushroom pie in puff pastry with vegetables and lovely potatoes soaked in gravy ummmmmm!

The pool is very maintained and has a lifeguard on site at all times from 10.00 - 20.00 daily. You can't reserve sunbeds as the lifeguard will remove your towels after a length of time which is a blessing. The sun pretty much gets to the pool all day with some partly in the shade. The Pool bar opened on 26 May which was nice but the bar was only a short walk away. Sunbeds were quite comfy and it was nice to have umbrellas if you wanted. The area is kept very clean and guests were pretty good tidying up after themselves. The indoor pool could be used but you need to wear a swim cap. If you haven't got one they can be purchased at reception for 4 euros.

The queues for the bar weren't too bad and went down quickly. It said you can only take 1 drink at a time but they didn't mind giving us 3 sometimes 4 at at time. Maybe that was for peak times. The bottles of water were free and a good size to pop in your bag if you are venturing out.

Evening entertainment was ok, the kids disco started around 21.00 where they played the usual party dances such as Superman, Gangnam Style etc. Then from 21:30 - 22:30 the entertainment guys (2 of them) done their best to keep the guests on the dance floor playing requests. However, there were many Spanish 'older' guests which got up to dance and took over the floor so if you had a little one, they may get barged out of the way! The shows didn't start until 22:30 which I felt was too late for families with little ones. During our stay there were 5 shows; Reptile show, Flamenco show, Magician, Dance show and best of all a man and lady doing Hawaiian dancing and also the Hucka! It was great as they did get the guests involved - I was even married to a tribal warrior! Unfortunately the kids club didn't open until Monday 26 and there wasn't a lot for my 12 year old to do during the day but he did make friends and play football, go swimming, play pool (2 euros a game), air hockey, darts and a game station( which costs 1 euro for 10 minutes). The bar closed at midnight but you were allowed to sit in the bar until 01.30 ish before the lights were turned out by Security.

The hotel lay on a free minibus to take you down to the centre if you don't want to walk, the last bus down there is 19:45. The drivers are very polite and helpful.

The main Levente Beach front is lovely but I have never seen so many mobility scooters in my life, single ones and doubles. These can be hired for approx 10 euros a day! We went to the strip Saturday evening which was certainly an eye opener, real fun. But best for singles/couples as I think it's a bit too much for the smaller generation, need I say more!

There is a 18 hole minigolf course the next road up from the beach front which cost 5 euros each. Not too bad and wasted an hour or two as the weather was a bit showery and cloudy.

The hotel also offered a free trip to Aqualandia, Terra Mitica, Mundomar and Iberia Park. As we were on a 1 week AI stay we were entitled to one free entry to any of the above and we opted for Aqualandia. It is only a 5 minute taxi ride costing approx 5 euros up the mountain. We asked reception the day before for a packed lunch which was ready for our collection at breakfast that morning. You were given 3 rolls, tin of pate, ham, cheese, fruit and a couple of bottles of water which was plenty to keep you going. The water park has to be one of the best parks I have ever been too, lots of lifeguards ensuring safety is paramount for everyone. The only negative I could say about this park is that although it is free through the hotel, once you are in it costs 4 euros for a sun bed for the day (which you can change throughout the day going to different parts of the park, just take the ticket with you) and 8 euros to hire a ring if you want to ride around the lazy river and tidal wave pool. We just swam around and that was good enough. Tip: the park is salt water so be aware and take plenty of sun cream! It was open from 10:00 - 19:00. There are plenty of food/drink shops, showers and toilets!

I would like to say a big thank you to the management team as on Tuesday we came up from the room and had a bottle of champagne on ice for my husbands birthday, a very lovely touch.

We were being picked up from the hotel at 07:55 in the morning so unfortunately we didn't have breakfast which was the best (available from 08:00 - 11:00)! Proper sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, tomatoes, potatos, chips, toast - you name it they had it. AND the orange juice was really nice!

We really enjoyed our holiday and will definitely go back, not just to Benidorm but to Palm Beach Hotel.

Thank you for a memorable holiday x

Room Tip: The hotel has 10 floors. The higher the better 1) for the views, 2) less noise!

We stayed here on the 24th for 2 nights with our 2 children. The hotel is up a very steep hill so booking a taxi or catching a bus down is a must Especially if you have children with you. The hotel staff were nice and helpful and main entrance was beautiful but the room was a disappointment. Firstly it was tiny and had no tea making facilities, no safe and an empty mini bar!! The balcony was not child friendly, decor was old (could do with more modern curtains and bedsheets) and the room smelled of a sewerage system every 15mins. The air conditioning wasn't working but problem was resolved when we returned from the beach. The corridors of the hotel were so narrow that you had to walk in single file so Manoeuvring 2 prams around was difficult. We ordered a pizza from the snack bar outside and it was the worst four cheese pizza we have ever had. It was burnt and seemed like the microwavable kind. I also asked the hotel to decorate the room and have a cake ready because it was my husbands birthday..they decorated the room with balloons and banners, it was lovely however instead of a cake they had a bottle of champagne..that would have been nice but we dont drink. I asked for it to be removed but it remained in our room for the full stay.

Breakfast was nice but there was no seating system at the door. Seemed like anyone could walk in and have breakfast.

Plus side: Staff were nice, view from balcony was beautiful, kids coco club was entertaining and hotel front ground and pool was lovely however we will not be staying here again. Definitely NOT a 4 star hotel. Mor like a 2.5star-3star.

Dear "taarhh "

First of all thank you very much for your comment here in TA. We feel sorry if your stay was not as good as you want and we will take note of your points to keep working. In order to the hill during the day from 9.00 to 19.45 we offer a free shuttle from the hotel to Levante Beach and it is suitable for children and babies.

We will work to improve our bar service and I will check with the Bar staff this. About the champagne bottle it was a mistake and we should put this out of the room.

this hotel is fab. its very well priced with plenty to do and great location. The wrist bands you get when all inc. also gets you free entry to the theme parks which is also a great saving. The hotel pool is great for everyone and the food is good and get more than you pay for. will be going back soon.

Just got back after a week from 17th-24th may.
This was our 2nd stay at the Palm beach, the first time was in July 2012 and was fantastic, I then gave it a 5 star rating as we couldn't fault anything.
Unfortunately I cant do the same this time, maybe would have been a little better in the summer months. The weather was great, not to hot so we could manage the hill quite easily, which was a good thing as the entertainment every night was overtaken by the large intake of elderly Spanish folk, I'm not saying they are not entitled to enjoy themselves but if you have young children, the dance floor is a no go area unless you want them to be knocked over, this is not the hotels fault in general its just the Spanish oap's just think the floor is for them only, I tried to give my 2 year old a dance but was constantly pushed by the women doing their dance, they honestly think they need a space of 7' by 7' each and if you go into that space they push you out, having said that the Friday before we left there was more children and less elderly, so maybe not as bad in the summer. I have heard the Spanish elderly get free holidays in early summer so maybe we just timed it wrong. no offence to any oap's with manners. Again not the hotels fault they did a good choice with the dance music for everyone, just couldn't get on the floor.

Also this time unlike the last the food did seem more repetitive, although well prepared but ended up eating out a couple of times unlike last time.

The rooms where cleaned and towels changed every day, but the base of the beds where very worn and fraying, giving the impression they was very old and used beds, and a couple of times the new sheets had make up marks on them.
The lifts are not very good, there are 3 which hold about 4 people but the doors close before they get out never mind before you start trying to get in. this needs sorting out, however I knew this from our last visit so emailed the hotel in advance to ask for a low floor, which they give us so we only needed the lifts on arrival and departure with luggage, so thankyou to the manager for that.

The restaurant staff were first class making sure you quickly got a table for the size of your party and then asking what drink you would like with a smile, thankyou for that.

The bar staff where also very good and quick at serving except for the grumpy one who wore glasses, he was more for serving the Spanish guest with a smile and a joke and then a frown when serving the all inclusive English, or at least that's what it seemed like to me. but a big thankyou to the others.

It was better this time for the pool and sunbeds as you are not allowed to reserve and they now have a life guard walking around which is good, but again not many kids maybe different in the summer months.

I think that's about it, last time I felt I had defend the hotels 4stars but unfortunately would now agree that 3stars is now more appropriate.

Thanks for a decent holiday but although we love Benidorm don't think we will be using this hotel again.

Room Tip: If you don't want the hassle of the lifts, email the hotel, they will try and put you on a low floor
