Had a great 3 night short break from 6th Sept 2012. First time at this hotel, but we'll definitely go back. We've moved away from our previously favourite Benidorm hotel because of lift problems but having tried 3 others, this will be our new regular. We've been to many 4 star hotels not as good as this. Very clean rooms and public areas, rooms not huge but perfectly adequate for 3 star. Good quality food, the usual breakfast for Spanish hotels with mainly British clientele. At least one meat, fish and poultry choice for dinner, all good, with at least acouple of other options, only complaint was limited veg (but the usual plentiful salads available). As we were only there for three nights, didn't pay 2 euros per night each for a pool view, but our rear view room was very quiet, with none of the usual Benidorm noise till the early hours, and we were right in the middle of the entertainment, only 2 mins walk from Morgan Tavern - in our view, the best artistes in Benidorm

Room Tip: We stayed in the newer, 6 storey part of the hotel - 6th floor was VERY quiet- we never heard a soun...

my friends and i have just come back from a 3 night break in the ambassador playa 1 hotel in benidorm ... it was spotlessly clean lovely rooms.. the food was stunning.... and the staff friendly....only 1 problem.. (not with the hotel).
our room balcony overlooked the prostitution area apparently commonly known as the black chicken .. next door the john and josephs.....
i was distressing to see the women there luring in the drunken men.... only targeting the ones walking alone or in 2.s they seemed to leave gangs alone.... we sat for hours between the hours of 4am to 6am watching the goings on... my friend shouted to some young lads walking by to keep walking and the prostitues shouted foul language and abuse and threatened us....
it is such a shame this lovely family hotel is right opposite this awful area.....

Spent two weeks, with extended family this year, at the Ambassador Playa 1 from August 22nd. Because we booked separately via the internet two of our group were in Am/Playa 2 but the lady receptionist in Playa 2 was absolutely wonderful and sorted a move after a couple of days so that we were all together in Playa 1.Overall still good value - 3 star don't forget. We were HB and had no complaints about the food nor the choices on offer, e.g. soup, meats, fish, salads, chips, burgers, vegetables, fresh fruit, ice cream, gateaux, cheese and biscuits etc. - but did find the cutlery/plates were not always as clean as should be. The rooms are basic but adequate with an option of a refundable deposit for the TV remote (5 English Ch.). We were on the 5th floor but the late night music from the surrounding clubs can be trying.Towel stampede every morning for the sunloungers as usual - one bloke said he queued from 6.45 - pool opens at 8.30. We went to the beach most mornings and the hotel pool after lunch, and always managed to get sunbeds. Could still do with a member of staff supervising the pool though - a bouncer perhaps. Entertainment was over the fortnight very good, with some acts better than others - Lady Gaga, Copycats and Mr. Ambassador were excellent entertainment. Hotel staff all very friendly and helpful, even the lounge barman has cheered up! No complaints - would go back tomorrow.

Room Tip: Lower floors (but not near Wesern Bar) as lifts take ages.

We stayed at this hotel from 30th Aug-6th Sept and have to say I was a little bit worried after reading a few reviews, I had booked the hotel for myself, hubby and the in laws so was hoping all was going to be ok as always a worry when booking for others. We had nothing to fear at all.

Location... Spot on just where we wanted to be close to everything but just far enough out of the main bar area, so you can go in if you choose.

Cleanliness.. Everywhere is spotless, rooms cleaned daily to a high standard, asked for extra pillows late at night on our first night got them within 5 minutes.

Food and restaurant.. Food was great a good selection and was always hot and tasty, my hubby is a very fussy eater but ate very well on this holiday compared to previous hotels we have been to. Restaurant staff all very pleasant and helpful, I think it says alot when guests leave them thank you cards.

Sunbeds and pool... Yes there are queues for the beds but I never queued usually going down 10mins after doors opened and always found 4 beds and a brolly no probs, in saying that think it was probably a bit quieter as families were starting to leave because of kids going back to school. Pool was cleaned to a high standard every night, heard someone complain about a broken tile around the pool one day this was fixed the same evening.

Entertainment... We found this to be very good and rarely left the hotel on an evening and we usually like to go out and about, drinks prices very reasonable too for a hotel.

Overall... A great hotel and would not hesitate to stay again. Try it you might like it :-)

We stayed here for one week from 26 Aug. in the Playa 2.The check in was quick and friendly and the rooms were spotless and cleaned to perfection each day.We stayed full board and each meal was varied with always something to please the most fussy eater, always hot and very nice. The restaraunt staff were great ,efficient and friendly especially the manager who makes you feel really welcome. Our rooms were at the back of the hotel and were really quiete. The only gripe was the usual sunbed situation that you find at most hotels. We went to the pool in the afternoon and usually got one each.We could not fault this hotel and would recommend it to families and couples alike.

Checking in was fine except for the miserable reception staff. If you want a safe you have to pay 26 euros and you only 10 back if you a fridge you have to pay 30 euros that you don't get back.

Rooms are spotless be carefull though as the maid throws things away.

If you want a subbed you have to que up at 7 am on holiday these people are mad. Most of the guests at the hotel think they own it and are very rude. There is no chance of getting in the pool.

If you want a sunbed I recommend going to the secret fountain rooftop bar near by and you can use the marina hotels pool.

Food is awful the only thing that was ok was breakfast staff walk around collecting plates don't say hello.

By the end of a week we had enough and checked in to the hotel melia

If you do stay here book room only or breakfast we ate out most of the time
