We arrived on the 19th of July and stayed for a week on a full board basis at the ambassador playa 1. (Thomson) We have stayed here before but at ambassador playa 2 (Thomas Cook). Overall we had a fantastic time but a few basic things could have made it better. The hotel is really lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful, Laura at reception was very pleasant and we had to have the maintenance guy come to our room for the air con and a bulb for the bathroom. This was all done within ten minutes, so all was good. The hotel was very clean and must say that the outdoor staff were cleaning all of the time especially around the pool area. As for the restaurant the food was wonderful and the restaurant was extremely clean, there were lots of various dishes to suit all tastes including English and Spanish, so you won't go far wrong while eating here. The waitress named (ines) wasn't the most happiest person, and made a face and sighed when someone behind us had taken some cutlery from another table. I must say that the head waiter named Antonio was very happy to help and guided us to our table most of the week, a really nice guy who made sure that all of the customers were looked after.

With regards to our room, we had a room overlooking the pool (room 338) on the third floor. The view was fab and you could see the shows in the evening if you just wanted to chill and relax. The maid named (Emi) changed the towels on a daily basis but didn't mop the floor as advised, she basically did a once over and a general tidy including emptying the bin, making the beds and that was about it.

The prices at the ambassador were reasonable, for three waters it was 3 euros 60, a pint of lager was 2 euros 80, and a coke was 1 euro 50. You expect to pay a little higher at any hotel. The waiter service was a big help, when your relaxing and don't even have to get up to get a drink was lovely and the there was no extra charge for this. I must say that Ian the entertainments manager, did make my son and I laugh every morning while doing aqua aerobics, it was great fun. While you have to place your towels on a sun bed in the mornings, we used to be at the entrance at around 8.10am but the doors wouldn't open until 8.30pm, it was quite funny to see everyone going to the same spots and getting the umbrellas (not many around the pool) and while your towels were on the beds, if you left and didn't return between the hours of 11am and 1pm the pool attendant would remove your towels for other people to have the opportunity of beds.

The wifi at the hotel was a joke, it just didn't exist. Our son and most teenagers would find this a big issue so be aware. The various acts were entertaining but went on into the night until around 1.30am, so if you like it a little quieter I would ask for a room at the rear of the hotel.

Overall we had a fab time and would defo recommend this hotel and return with no question, we just hope that the ambassador takes on board these little concerns and this should be a four star hotel.

We would like to thank the hotel for again a lovely relaxed weeks holiday and hopefully see you all soon.

Room Tip: If you require good views and entertainment I would choose the front of the hotel but if you require...

stayed here on the 18th july for 9 days with my 2 daughters, room was a bit small, had 3 single beds in and was very tight for space, its was very hot at this time of year so when opening the patio doors you could hear all the noise from outside, when door was closed put a/c on and it was like Manchester airport the noise that came out of it, could not win , went full board but only had food 4 times there as it was same thing every day, didn't go to the pool once while we were there because you could not get near it , every morning the pool was full and impossible to get a sun bed, and to top it all my daughter,s trainers went missing, and because u don't get a kettle in the rooms i bought one of the travel ones with me and my own mug cos i do luv my coffee in the morning and after 4 days my mug went missing as well as with the trainers ,went to reception but they didn't want to know , i will never stay here again, was very disappointed

This was our first time staying in the Ambassador Playa 1. I stayed here with my 15yr old daughter and her 17yr old friend for 11 nights. My mum and dad would of been staying here too but Thomson told us it wasn't disabled friendly therefore it wouldn't be suitable for my mum who is in a wheelchair. So there went to stay in another hotel, which was very disappointing as when we got there it was very suitable for disabled people, so that was a let down by Thomson and should be changed. We checked in without any problems, rooms were fine although it was a bit of a squash as there was 3 of us staying in the room so there was 3 beds but nothing to complain about. Food was a bit repetitive, but we always come away full enjoying what we had ate. Mr Whippy ice-cream machines were a big hit with everyone, I personally loved eating it with profiteroles. All staff in the hotel were very friendly. Reps were great too.
The entertainment for the kids was brilliant, kept them and the adults entertained, he done a great job. Pool was great. Could only get a sun lounger no problem in the afternoon, if you didn't want to race for 1 on a morning. Night entertainment was good too although we went out every night like we always do when we go to Benidorm. Cleaners didn't do that much of a good job, think the floor only got properly swept and mopped once in the 11 nights that we were there. Other people have also commented that things were stolen out of there room, we never had a problem with this but I will say I don't think its the actual staff from out the hotel. Our room door got tried with a card a few times so we think its guests from the hotel or outsiders trying there cards and getting into rooms! Security wasn't all that good. There was an incident involving a lady who had fallen and he didn't help much and was laughing talking to what looked like a handy man. Overall though would stay here again :)

just back had a great week , hotel worth the money. if its quite holiday your looking for this is the wrong hotel for you, rooms nice and clean , food good, to be honest the only thing that lets the hotel down is the pool area gets very dirty in the afternoon and the people who think its ok just to throw there cigarettes anywhere they want , coffee cups sitting for hours, litter bins full ... things got that bad we never used the pool the last 2 days of our holiday ... oh and the restaurant staff can be rude at times but very busy.... would i return.. just because of the pool area i doubt it

Room Tip: pool view..... the back side is not so good

This is our 3rd time staying at this hotel. Had a great stay again, staff friendly especially restaurant staff. Food was great, different things too choose from every night, ice cream machine was good and drinks prices reasonable. Hotel very clean, rooms cleaned everyday with beds made and new towels put in. Rooms good size and air con was very good to keep room cool. Pool area was busy enough but could always get sun beds during the day so no need to queue up in morning to get one ! Pool view is great watching the entertainment at nights down below.

The noise wasn't a problem for us we were actually surprised coz in previous years in May when we stayed it was far noisier at nights. Plenty of things to do, some great tribute acts about the place. A walk along the beach is nice to the old town at the end of it. Lifts can be slow at times but what do you expect if lots using them at busy times e.g dinner.

Will be returning.

Room Tip: Pool view rooms are the best for watching the entertainment from balcony

Came home on 26th July after spending 7 nights in the Ambassador playa 2 in Benidorm, great hotel cant fault it, food was excellent best hotel we have stayed in and we have stayed in quite a few. Benidorm is lively, busy and the entertainment is great, would highly recommend this hotel and resort. All that remains to be said is, as far as we are concerned this hotel should be 4 star and not 3 star, upgrade please.
