Hotel Magic Villa de Benidorm

Reviewed 10 October 2011

I was there only last week for 7 days and i found it an average hotel, the fridge didnt work, the beds were basic, one light in the bedroom needed a bulb, the sink was cracked in the bathroom, the good things were the staff they were very friendly Sam and Alicia were very good at all the activities they put on and were very nice girls. Met some nice holiday makers at the hotel who joined in with the games.Food was good, not a great choice but what was there was great. The hotel was very clean and tidy.

Room Tip: Try to avoid booking third floor as trees block your views.

I would recommend anyone thinking of booking the Magic Villa to book the Magic Aqua Rock Gardens instead as the quality between them is miles apart. I would however say the staff at Villa were excellent very nice people doing the best with what they have couldn't fault them at all, unfortunately the hotel is in need of a massive overhaul the beds were old and uncomfortable, I had 2 teenage girls with me and they wouldn't have been able to handle 2 wks in the pull out bed and with a rubbish aircon system in the heat of August 4 people in the room with no balcony was unbearable, the wardrobe wouldn't open and shut properly and on the first night we were bitten by midges quite badly.

We thought ok we can deal with this until we tried the food which was disgusting and we are not fussy eaters the chips weren't even edible the chicken looked like it was going to walk off the plate and after paying all that money for all inclusive we were all by that point fed up so I thought lets go see the other hotels and perhaps we can use their facilities they might be nicer. So we made our way to Magic Aqua and despite having to climb cardiac hill which is hard work (but kept us fit and we got used to it in the end) the difference between the hotels is immense. We went back to Villa immediately spoke to the manager who is a lovely man and explained our position and complained about room food etc as they are part of the same hotel and they had room at Magic aqua they allowed us to swap hotels there and then with no charge we packed so quick! In actual fact I think if you look around the price between Villa and Aqua is only a few pounds I'm not sure how they get away with charging pretty much the same as the Aqua as the quality is miles apart but presume that it is so they can eventually do up all the hotels in the group??

Firstly the hotel visually looked amazing just as its name indicates it looks like the hotel is set in a cave, aircon as soon as you walk in unlike Villa and was 10x better I felt like i could breath again although having a balcony in the room would have been nice the fact that the aircon woked and didn't look like you could be electricuted was gt the beds were brand new having only been refurbed earlier in the yr and so comfertable the room had new tele towells changed daily and rooms cleaned and hotel in general was high spec.

The staff were all friendly, helpful and polite, the pool area was much cleaner and had better slides. There were several restaurants to choose from and the food was much better cooked and had more choice although I still wasn't 100% thrilled with the food as it caters more for Spanish it was at least edible! And the pool side one had breakfast, rolls etc throughout the day which was handy for the kids, drinks were included which saved money although the house vodka was disgusting so I didn't get my money's worth really. The entertainment was as you would expect - the Brit bar & Spanish bar to choose from depending on whether you want to stay with Brits or mix with Spanish. Internet area and big screen for computer games and tele's dotted about to keep kids amused if too hot. For a cooler breeze head to the beach its lovely and there are some nice bars/restaurants along the promenade.

The glass lift for me was scary but kids loved it we had a power cut on the sat night and it took a few hours to fix but didn't really bother us too much were Brits after all haha. And someone nicked my camera on the last day but in fairness it was our own fault we had left it on the table and when we returned it was gone the staff helped to look but the area wasn't covered by CCTV so not much i could do esp as we were leaving in 2hrs, shame as I have no pics of the hols but what can you do:(

Would recommend going to White Horse for family entertainment, shows karaoke etc and then Triangle after bit more lively and open till 3am and for a fantastic roast dinner go to the Yorkshire absolutely delicious (the small portion is enough!) and just what we all needed after a day at the aqualandia (look out for half price/family tickets for aqua park in local bars we saved about 40€)

Check out old town benidorm its lovely at night (although a little crowded) in some of the quieter streets there are some hidden gems and gt food we had paella sat by the beach and sangria, wish we could have tried Granny's tea and cakes but didn't have time. And if your kids-teens are fussy eaters or u just want an american meal try the double fronted Grill House on av. de mediterraneo, the service was fantastic the food was delicious (although a little more pricey but not bad really about 20€ head for starter-main-coke..and we were all full and happy so well worth it.

Although it isn't the most attractive part of Spain i have been to and the high blocks are pretty ugly overall I had fun in Benidorm and after moving hotel we were alot happier, shame i missed the market would have liked to gone there and also headed into old town a bit more but there are sooooo many bars restaurants etc to try you won't be bored!

Dear Guest

We would like to thank you for taking the time to write a review and also the kind words about our staff in the hotel.

The hotel is well situated in the heart of the Levante Beach Zone where it is just 5 minutes from the beach, indoor and outdoor markets and right next to all the british bars and shops.

When you book the All Inclusive package you have the freedom of visiting all the other hotels in our chain. With hotels spread out over benidorm, this gives you a chance to see all the different areas. Plus we have a complimentary bus which takes you out to visit all our hotels where you can eat, drink and play. New this year, we have added to our Magic Aqua Hotels to now include the newly refurbished Magic Aqua Rock Gardens. There are also Magic Aqua Monika Holidays (with a lake style swimming pool) and also our medieval themed Magic Aqua Excalibur. Three great Aqua Park Hotels to choose from.

Just come back from a week staying a Villa de Benidorm. Hotel is basic but the staff are very pleasant especially in the bar and entertainment. Sam and Alicia look have entertainment around the pool and in the evening and they do a great job with the children and adults. The restaurant is clean and tidy. The variety of food is good and changes daily, the staff always make sure the trays are full. The pool area is good for families though it doesn't get a lot of sun. Good facilities for the children and they can come and go as they please and you know they are safe. Good spot for you to explore Benidorm but can get a little noisy at night and if you have a room facing the road you can hear the evening noise when the pubs close. Overall good and friendly atmosphere and would go back.

Room Tip: Rooms on the pool side quieter.

We work very hard here to keep our guests entertained. Our saying is "if the kids are happy, then so are the parents" so we are glad to hear your children enjoyed their time in the hotel aswell.

The room was spacious but too hot as the air conditioning was rubbish. It was close to the night life (my choice) and so it was too noisey to have the window open but to be honest I don't think the room would have been any cooler as I got a really hot week. Other than the heat in the room (which only bothered me when I was getting ready at night) the rest of the stay was great. There was decent air conditioning in the bar and entertainment areas. The entertainment was fab and the team even better. My son thoroughly enjoyed himself and spent all his time with the entertainment team- they even take the kids for tea at night so stress free for me. I probably wouldn't go back to benidorm again but if you are going and you want a cheap holiday with your kids then this hotel is ok. As part of the magic group you can use any of the hotels. I met a few people that stayed in the more luxurious hotels and then came down for the entertainment and pool facilities so thats an option too but then they paid more to do that. The food was nice too and I had no problems with queueing but then I was always at the restaurants at the start of meal times and the queues usually formed as I was leaving to be honest. The staff are great there. Oh and it was very multicultural. Yes lots of Spanish but you are in SPAIN! I don't know how peopke feel they have the right to complain about that. I never felt unwelcome by the Spanish at all or second class to them so thats just racist rubbish in my opinion. And theres not much more for me to say, other than go and make your own mind up with the view its cheap and cheerful xx

Room Tip: Don't stay on the lower floors if you want your windows open at night as I don't think it wo...
