usually apprehensive but spent 2 weeks here and loved it............the staff in all areas can't do enough for you.........we had room at back and were so glad as very quiet while those who had paid for seaview room said it was too hot........we were there end of jan and had lovely weather. Buffett meals gave a wide range of fish, meat, hot or cold choices. Hotel just across road to long beach, then gentle walk up to harbour and old town. you must visit the beautiful church here.
entertainment run by eve was good with some very professional acts. small dance floor but all made for friendly atmosphere. We made some good friends who visit every year, so we will be joining them.

Room Tip: our room at back was quieter as no road noise.

Hello Dot,

How nice of you to write a review of our "Gem of a Hotel" the Hotel RH Corona del Mar.

You are right we had some very good weather in January and some days where quite warm, in fact until the last week we have had a very mild and sunny winter.

It’s very nice to hear how much you enjoyed your stay and the atmosphere of the hotel. The old “San Jaime” church is beautiful as is the own town and harbour. We are in a very privileged location which is great for stroll into town or along the poniente beach.

We look forward to welcoming you back again along with your good friends,

Kindest Regards

We stayed at this hotel for a 3 week period from 2nd February this year. On check in we were allocated a room on the 7th floor just as requested however we were overlookin the graveyard which was a shame, however we had not requested a seaview, I went to reception to see if we could change, of course you can they said charge would be 250 euros for the 3 weeks which we thought was far too much to pay so a safe key was paid for at a cost of 12 euros per week (not too bad) We then proceeded to unpack there were not enough coat hangars, requested more and they arrived within 15 minutes (good service)there are no drawers in the room at all but in the bedside tables there is storage space.Anyone on a 3 or 4 week break needs more space to hang clothes and drawer space to put things in.The beds were extremely comfortable and the bed linen spotless. The lady who cleaned the rooms on the 7th floor is very good indeed. The tv in the room had British channels although the reception at times kept breaking up.
The food in the restaurant was superb with plenty of choice for everyone hats off to the chefs, also the staff in the restaurant were friendly and service excellent. The meals catered for the British mostly. The bar staff were very good and entertainment was mostly good, the parrot show however was just a moneymaking deal for the owners of the parrots all they waned to do was take pics of guests with the birds and charge 10 euros for rhe priviledge. There were some really good singers within the acts and the young lady who organised all the quizes and line dancing worked hard and deserves praise.Yes the hotel does cater for mainly older people but there is also things for the young as well. The indoor pool shutting between 1.30 and 3.30pm is a poor idea and should not happen in a 4 star establishment also if you took the towels out to the outdoor pool or to the beach you were charged 10 euros for each towel.
The location of the hotel is superb only 3 minutes to the Poniente beach area, and about 6 minutes to the Old town. The beach is superb and if you sit on the decking under the white overhangs it is a real sun trap. Sun beds and umbrellas are 4 euros per day each. The number 3 bus which stops close to the hotel will take you to Carrefour or La Marina which is the out of town shopping area for 1 euro 45 really good value as are all the buses. The tram station is only a 15 minute walk and ths will take to Alicante or Calpe the other way charge is minimal.A visit to tapas ally in the old town is a must superb wine at 1 euro per glass. Also Morgans at the edge of bar street by the new flash hotel superb entertainment Sister Act, Debs and Her, Shoewaddywaddy all good turns.

I stayed here with my Mum and son from 19th to 23rd Feb and chose this hotel after reading the Tripadvisor reviews. Yes it is aimed at the older generation however it is February and out of the main holiday season so expected to see an older age group who seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Our room was on the first floor and at the back of the hotel so we did get a close view of Burger King, noise from the road and from what I think was the kitchen/bin area. We didnt spend much time in our room so it wasnt a problem, the room itself was immaculately clean and comfortable and the bathroom large. We went half board and the range of food wasn't extensive but what we had was sufficient and we didn't go hungry. The evening entertainment was aimed at the older age group but my son was happily occupied by the Sega megadrive. The location of the hotel is also ideal as its close to the beach, the seafront play areas and a pleasant walk to the main town area.
The only thing was the heat in dining room, it was stiffling and also the outside pool area needed some tlc.
I would visit again but we booked through Cosmos and were offered no service from them at the hotel. The welcome pack was somewhere at the airport as we were somewhat delayed having spent 6 hours on the plane rather than a planned 2.5hr due to a broken down plane on Alicante runway so we had to divert to Valencia to refuel and then try again. The return flight wasn't that successful either as my suitcase didn't make the return trip back and is somewhere in transit.

Good Afternoon Tracy

Thank you for choosing the Hotel RH Corona del Mar.

I am pleased that your stay with us along with your Mum and Son was a pleasant one. As I have mentioned many times the clientele changes by the seasons but you were witness to how much our guests enjoy themselves.

The location of the hotel is ideal for the beach, a walk into the Old Town or along the Poniente beach.

I have noted your comment on the dining room and the pool and will review

We certainly hope you do visit us again and thank you for taking time to share your opinion on Tripadvisor,

Kindest Regards

We booked this hotel for our 10 year anniversary in January. After reading the reviews for this hotel I was really looking forward to the stay- however, I've found a fair few of the reviews here to be misleading. I don't think the Corona del Mar warrants 4 stars. The room we were allocated was tiny and our 'sea view' consisted of a sliver of visible ocean. The bathroom was also tiny and a bit worse for wear. Another problem I experienced persistently was the housekeeping service knocking the door in the morning despite a Do Not Disturb sign- I got the impression that reception staff didn't really want to listen to guests problems when we tried to voice this. We only ate in the restaurant once and found the food to be substandard- I had fish which was perhaps the boniest fish I have ever eaten (or attempted to eat). The entertainment is definitely aimed at the elderly despite what previous managerial replies on this topic may say. In addition it the bar staff tended to just ignore customers waiting for a drink, and we generally ended up just going to the bar ourselves. Realistically we did not stay for most of the evenings entertainment in the hotel as there are so many lovely bars and restaurants nearby.
Plus points- decent location, close to Old Town.
We actually extended our stay in Benidorm by 2 nights but chose to move to a different hotel as we wanted to end our holiday on a brighter note, which I am glad to say we did!

Good Afternoon Debbie,

Thank you for writing a review of your recent stay at the Hotel RH Corona del Mar.

I was sorry to read your review and hear of your disappointment with various aspects of your holiday. Whilst I respect your opinion I cannot agree that the food is substandard Debbie, if you ate just one time and one dish! Our entertainment is aimed at pleasing everyone, which is difficult but we do our very best for all our guests.

I will speak with our housekeeping and review the do not disturb sign although this is the first time we have ever had such a comment

On a positive note Debbie I am very pleased that your holiday ended on a brighter note at an alternative location,

Kindest Regards

Just had a super 4 days at the Corona del Mar. A lovely hotel with friendly staff and a good variety of food. The hotel prices were excellent less than 5euros for 3 drinks. Still people complained. Would recommend to anyone.

Stayed here August 2012 for 10 days. Had a lovely room overlooking the sea, room was spotlessly clean and well looked after. Hotel reception staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. We stayed full board which was well worth it and enjoyed a break from sunbathing to relax in the restaurant for lunch rather than just getting a snack. At the time of year we were there it was predominantly Spanish families in the hotel so chatting to others was fairly limited as my Spanish is not up to full speed. I have to say that the staff were really good when I had a go at ordering things and having a little conversation in Spanish which they seemed to appreciate. Alesandro one of the waiters used to teach me a new word every day. Restaurant was very clean and tidy too and food was readily replenished.. Bar staff were very efficient with service and most of them were very pleasant. Pool is quite small but ok with a small waterslide. There are early evening games in the pool virtually every day at this time of year for the children and adults. We enjoy going to the beach and the hotel has a great location just across the road from there. The Poinente beach is lovely, all sand and very clean and appears to be fairly safe. We enjoyed the holiday and would visit again.

Hello TouristWarwickwshire,

Sincere thanks for taking time to write about your stay last summer.

It is really nice to hear that you practiced your Spanish with our staff and found them all to be very friendly and helpful. I must say I am very proud of all the staff at the hotel, they are the heart of the business and their hard pays certainly shows in the feedback they receive.

Summer time is very different to winter, as is the clientele. I am pleased you had such an enjoyable stay and hope you can visit us again in the near future,

Don’t forget you can follow us on our facebook page,

Stayed at the corona del mar for 4 days, while visiting friends in Benidorm
Good points...... clean and tidy, food was good for the type of hotel. staff helpful and friendly, close to beach and well situated for old town.

Negative points .... although room 312 appeared to have been recently decorated, the bathroom was dated and had cracked tiles, and a poorly repaired bath, and damaged door frame.

At the time of booking, we asked for a higher floor and seaview. but heard nothing, then when i emailed again i was told there was no availability but to ask on arrival in case of a cancellation. when we arrived we asked a third time, and hey presto there were rooms available but at an extra cost of £12.00 per day for a smaller part seaview room on a lower floor. in addition to this we also had to pay extra to park at the hotel another £9.00 per day.

some of the furniture in the public areas, although clean and tidy needed replacing, ie chairs threadbare. and our biggest gripe was having to pay for water at mealtimes,

there was no tea and coffee facilities in the bedrooms, but after speaking to reception they sent up a kettle and some cups.

although there was entertainment every evening it was very much geared to the over 70's but as 98 per cent of the people in this hotel seemed to be well in their 70's, i expect they enjoyed it. this might also explain the plastic sheets on the beds and the fact that one night when we came back to the hotel at 12.05am, the hotel was in darkness, all the bars had shut and everyone had gone to bed.

In short, if you are a pensioner, or looking for somewhere safe and comfortable to send your parents or grandparents we would highly recommend this hotel, however we are a couple in our early 50s who normally seek out comfortable, quiet hotels and in this case we truely felt like fish out of water. we will deff return but not for another 20 or so years.

Room Tip: do not pick sea view room ending in 12, as smaller and partial view,

Hello Katie,

Thank you for your feedback of our Hotel RH Corona del Mar.

On a positive note, I am pleased you found the hotel clean, good food, helpful staff and good location.

I have taken note of your comments regarding your room.

With regard to your booking, as a senior traveller I am sure you are aware that a request is not a guarantee and after reading reviews of the hotel it is evident that sea view rooms have a supplement. Our hotel is very full and we cannot ever guarantee high or low floors, we do our very best with requests and on this occasion I am pleased we were able to offer you a sea view room. The Hotel does charge for parking, at this time of year you do have the option to park in the street for free, however in our parking you can rest assured knowing your car is in a secure place.

You may have noticed whilst you were here that we are in the process of updating the chairs in the cafeteria which you refer too. In the next week the process should be complete.

Thank you for recommending our hotel even if its’ not for you, the clientele of the hotel changes throughout the year and seasons,

Kindest Regards
