“Lovely Hotel”
Reviewed 16 July 2011

We arrived at the Hotel 12 hours late due to Thomas Cook not having a plane ready for us and then having to fly one in from London. The Sandos Monaco is a lovrly hotel we were very pleased when we arrived to see a beautifull reception area decked out in marble, and with very comfy leather seats its also very cool which comes in handy in the searing afternoon heat. Our room was lovely we stayed in room 1410 which gets the sun in the morning ideal for a relaxing start to your day. We found the bar staff very friendly and efficient constantly tidying up the tables and pool area so no glasses were left blowing around . The bar staff also don not favour spanish guests as previous posters have stated, the only un-friendly bar man was the manager he never smiled once in our 2 weeks stay. The food was ok but not fantastic we ate out a couple of nights. Cant comment on the entertainement at night as we were out every night so much to see and do in Benidorm at night, we found a cracking wee Irish Bar called The Bodhran which is 5 mins from the hotel the singer Brendan is fantastic and his patter is superb well worth a visit. Overall we throughly enjoyed out stay in the Sandos Monaco and would recommend it for a fab holiday.

Went with a girlfriend for a break to indulge ourselves, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Can't fault the hotel at all, rooms may have been compact but why would you want to spend time in your room when the sun is shining. Staff were wonderful, rooms were clean and housekeeping was high standard. Now on to the food, we could not find fault with the selection on offer or the quality and we are both used to staying in high standard hotels. Bar - briliant, we were AI, absolutely no problem with service, we even had Cava for breakfast, very much appreciated.

It was my first time in Benidorm, and I was very very impressed. It was clean, pretty, friendly and not at all like I thought it would be. Don't be put off visitng this lovely town because of how it is portrayed. We are going back next year.

Any bad points - none that I can think of, so and see for yourselves!!

Stayed here from 25th June till 9th July. I am sorry to say the hotel is overrated as a 4 star would say a 3 star hotel. My husband and I have stayed in lots of 4 star hotels this isn't one of them though they are trying very hard to make it a 4 star hotel. We saw lots of changes and things happenning by the start of our second week. Our room was rather small as it is at the very beginning beside fire exit. We met other people and saw their rooms and they were double the size of ours. Bathroom only had a shower in it other peoples rooms had both. We met two couples who complained about their rooms and they got moved. Unfortunately we didn't complain maybe if we did we would also have got moved. Not worth the money we paid which was nearly £2,500. We did get the double bed that was requested. We also got the sunny balcony and pool view that wasn't requested. Room was very clean and the maids lovely.
When we first arrived there were only 2 umbrellas for shelter from the sun. Since a lot of people complained to the manager (not us) he ordered more so by the time we left there were 12 umbrellas.
The food in the restuarant was sometimes excellent and other times ok. It was also very repetitive. We had champange for breakfast on our wedding anniversary there was also caviar but don't eat fish. Everyone who worked in the restuarant were lovely and very helpful.
The bars were all well stocked and the staff were all friendly and enjoyed a good laugh especially Edwin at the pool side bar. He is also the King of the Cocktails.
Racquel was excellent doing the archery, rifle shooting etc. The other entertainments girl was also lovely. They both work very hard. Actually all the staff work hard and long hours.
I never used the spa or gym.
The pool was lovely and also the jacuzzi. We watched the pool getting cleaned everyday and also the pool area and bar areas outside getting cleaned everyday.
The toilets in the hotel and at the pool are very clean.
If hiring towels you pay 10euros each and 15 euros for the safe. The tv is free in your room. We have been to hotels where you pay for the remote control for the tv not this hotel. The internet is dear in the hotel 1euro for 15mins. Another hotel only charged 2euros for an hour.
The 16 floor hotel is a lovely hotel to stay in very close to levante beach, the old and new town and 10 mins walk to the main night life.
I would recommend this hotel to couples and families. I would like to go back and see what it is like as an adult only hotel.

Room Tip: Do not stay in Room 1201 too small. Ok for afternoon to late evening sun on balcony. nice view of th...

My disabled son stayed with his two carers, great hotel & staff, food great, hotel clean & staff very helpful. Only downside was the agent we booked it with, ASDA Travel, messed almost everything up, even the flights. NEVER EVER book with them again. Not even an apology. A Real DISGRACE.

Room Tip: Phone the Hotel just before you depart from the UK.

Just arrived home from a weeks holiday, this is the 2nd time we have stayed at this hotel in a year, the location is great for the nightlife as it is central to the old and the new towns, ten minutes walk to bar street. The food in the hotel is spot on at all times and there is loads of variety at each meal time, there is food at all times even when the restaurant is closed. The all inclusive drinks are of good quality, the rooms are very spacious and clean. Fab hotel in all, wouldn't stay at any in Benidorm.

After a work colleague recommended that we stayed here I wasn't in to much doubt that this would be a quality hotel. We had a slight problem that the room we were allocated was not cleaned when we arrived but we were swiftly moved to our new room which was 1102. Next to the lifts. Rooms were really clean, excellent facilities and the beds are comfy. Room was cleaned everyday and the balcony was nice. However in the shade for the afternoon. The food was great, best all inclusive I have had, lots of choice and something for everybody. We stayed for 11 days, however by the end of the holiday food was getting repetitive but that is to be expected with an all inclusive. The staff were really helpful and polite. Special mention to the two girls who did the kids disco and the bingo, really nice. The alcohol was local but was still at a decent level, you also could pay for brands if you wanted at a decent price. The bar staff were good and enjoyed having a laugh with you. Also very respectable. We also took advantage of the Spa on the one cloudy day we had, for 10 euro's you could use all the facilities, including sauna, turkish bath, hot tub and a variety of jet water treatments. The location of the hotel is good as well, 5-10 min walk to all the bars, which ensures you receive a good nights sleep. Beach is only 5 mins away as well. Overall this is the best all inclusive hotel I have stayed in and will defiantly be returning.

just back from the sandos monaco a few hours ago! cannot rate this hotel high enough!! I actually cannot find 1 fault with this hotel at all!!
ROOMS:
Our room was 1108 and was over the main entrance side of the hotel with a side view down to the beach. the room was spacious for me and my partner and two young children.beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was lovely!hairdryer also very good :) the balcony was plenty big enough and had really nice patio furniture,no plastic rubbish. the view was fantastic and we loved to sit at night and look out.the maid service was fine with the beds made and towels left every day. although the sheets were not changed once during our 11 night stay, this didnt bother us though.the corridors are lovely and well kept and we didnt have any bother with noise at night at all.
POOL:
the pool is much better than i imagined! i loved the jacuzzi pool and the main pool is all one depth which was actually quite nice!my kids loved the childrens pool which was a really good size and had 4 little bubbly bits in it :) the sunbeds are really lovely, best iv had in a hotel so far, they were comfortable and adjustable at head and feet. there seemed to be plenty of them available and even at busy times it didnt feel overcrowded around the pool.i must say though,we didnt really spend mornings around pool as it doesnt get the sun till midday, again this was no problem and literally as soon as sun touches pool the water warms(although the water actually wasnt too cold towards the end of our stay, even in morning)
PUBLIC AREAS:
fantastic, well presented and very clean! theres even little posies of flowers on all the tables and they are all real,a nice touch.the toilets are also lovely and have posh sinks.cant comment on the spa as we didnt use but my partner used the gym and said it was very good and well equipped.the lifts are little on small size but seem to come quick enough really so again no problem there.all in all,all the public areas and around pools etc are very well kept and clean and tidy.
BARS:
again, great! theres 2 bars by pool, one serves cocktails and the other everything else.the downstairs indoor bar is lovely too and so is the whole bar area.the drinks were fab and you get really generous measures and theres alot of choice too.my mum and dad came for a drink a couple of times (they were staying at the royal) and they were able to buy drinks at the bar and it cost them 4 euros for a large brandy and a red wine.
SNACKS:
there are snacks on offer at pretty much every minute of the day,by the pool you can ask for crisps and they have biscuits and fruit and sweets on the bar too at certain times.between 4 and 6pm you can go into the restaurant and theres a toastie machine and lots of fillings (ham, cheese salad etc) so you can make your own toastie or sandwhich which you can eat in restaurant or take to pool etc.also they do have a few hot plates left on with food on them too like rice, crepes etc. so cant complain about snacks either
FOOD:
i have stayed in many hotels and i cant fault this hotels food at all!!!!!! you have a show cooking section and a pizza and pasta section where they are making fresh pizza in fornt of you and a choice of pastas which are heated for you and then you have a selection of sauces.you then have another hot buffet section with different foods on that too. also the usual salad and cold meats and cheeses part (with a variety of cheeses incl stilton etc)
then theres a fruit and ice cream section and then another section for desserts! the breakfasts were lovely and they served EVERYTHING! every day there was boiled eggs, fried eggs, scrambled eggs and omlettes. also porridge, cereal with choices of milk including soya and croissants and a diet section wiith a variety of diet food too :)
there was red and white wine and beer and water and all the usual fizzy drinks and at breakfast there were fruit juices, tea, coffee etc. also there was plenty of well kept sauces and hp brown sauce for breakfast :) i must say, theres a chef showcooking fried eggs, pancakes and omelettes every day and he cooks the best cheese and ham omlette i have ever eaten!! so much food choice, you cannot possibly not find something to eat,oh and at dinner they also have another chef carving a meat at another part :)
STAFF:
theres been some bad things on here about staff but i have to say they were all nice really, they all say hello and talk to the kids even the waiters clearing plates in restaurant. there was one bar staff guy who wernt too happy but he still served you fine and i never found that the spanish were served 1st or anything. there was never long waits for anything.the reception staff were also helpful and we needed a doctor and this was dealt with very well with a doctor appearing after 20mins.
the best staff member is without a doubt nereya!!! she is the childrens entertainer and also does the bingo etc . shes fantastic!! my kids absolutely loved her!! she even sat colouring with my kids while we had a drink one eve,and danced with them etc.and despite whats been said about it being mainly for spanish kids thats not the case, she went out of her way to include my two in every thing and more british kids were coming as days went on anyway.shes a star!!
KIDS:
i have no idea why this hotel is going adutls only!! it catered for my kids perfectly! the snacks suited them, with sweets sometimes put out at snack times, food catered for them too. the entertainment for them seemd great(we went out alot),the pool, for them was lovely, they did miilkshakes and non alcoholic cocktails too.my kids had a perfect holiday
GROUPS/STAG,HEN:
while we were there i seen one hen group at breakfast and never saw them again. there was probably around 4 or 5 stags throughout our stay but tended to only be there for a couple of days a time. they sat near the pool bar and drank all day,one group did get bit loud and rowdy but the otheres didnt really. we used to go beach most days and out most nights so we wernt bothered really by this.but i will say i seen an awful lot of stags even in old town.
i hope i have covered everything and hope it comes across what a fab hotel this really is!! we were so sad to leave!! and if we were allowed to return we would book tomorrow!!!!
GOT TO THIS HOTEL!!!!!!!! :)

Room Tip: quiet room sea view
