“as i was saying”
Reviewed 14 September 2009

just got back from my return to this lovely hotel and as i was saying in my june review i speak as i find..
and i suppose 'you cant please all of the people all of the time'..
the hotel was just as good as i found it earlier in the year, and there was much improvement in the nightime entertainment with a few good acts brought in..especially 'deb & her' who were fantastic...(and also appearing over the road in the tropical bar...)
sadly you still get the 8.30am rush for sunbeds that have a parasol, which i suppose is fair enough if you want to spend all day lying around the pool......but DEFINATELY SAD if you are just puting your towel down for when you return sometime after lunch..
we found no problems getting such sunbeds when we returned to the hotel in the afternoon...
ps: all the staff were wonderfull!!!

The hotel is very modern, which is a big change for a Gold hotel, yet it is refreshing to see that they can change with the times, however some of the " ive been to all the gold hotels brigade" find it difficult to cope with. This is not your usual "gold" hotel, and it is still in its first year, so problems are still being ironed out, and yes there is still quite a few issues that neeed to be delt with to bring it up to the standard of the Long standing Gold hotels, with this in mind you cannot fail to have a nice holiday, but must allow for teething problems.
Rooms: Perhaps we were lucky, but they were always cleaned and made by 10.30 everyday, plenty of soaps and shampoos always replaced.
Food: Plenty of choice, perhaps too much fish for my liking, but always fresh and hot, and well presented.
Drinks: The prices were not too bad, but again cheaper across the road, and with this economy, people will go where it is cheaper. One thing i did have problems was finding "Diet Drinks" they seem to only have "Coke" and "Irun Brau" which you do get fed up with after two weeks, but this was throughout the whole resrt. The "Happy Hour" helped.
Entertainment: Well in our 1st week they lost 2 of the team which made it very difficult for the others to manage, but manage they did, by working 12-18hrs a day sometimes to ensure there were at least one person alaways around, should you choose to do the games was your choice. Claire and David work so hard, and sometimes people forgot that with their negative vocal opinions.....
The holiday advisers worked their socks off. Again they were 3 at the start of our first week, to then go down to 2, Good Luck Monique in your studies, which left Lynda and Christina. Christina "Local interest Person" is in another dimension, such a fun loving person, and what she does not know about the resort is second to none, she is such an asset to the team and the hotel, we have made a great friend in her. She not only was a holiday advisor but helped out with the daily activities and team days. The prices of the trips were very good also.
"Anouk" the resident band, were fantastic, and such an asset to Thompson Holidays. Taking in to account how much the team had changed in the two weeks we were there, i think they rose to the occassion well.
On a negative note: They need more umbrellas and sunbeds, this would stop all the early morning rush for them and the vocal complaing everyday around the pool.
Some didnt like the food, yet they managed to eat it. Having to pay for the use of the "Mini Bar" i think is a little harsh.
We really enjoyed our holiday with the Thompson Team and Hotel, and will be sure to go back to this hotel.

Just arrived back from the Levante, thought I would try to give a fair review, first off the food was just about adequete, but you dont want that on a gold holiday you expect special !!! The entertainment team was poor 4 young people with a little talent but so so immature, who wants to listen to them talking about themselves eg squeezing spots and thier phobias for buttons!!!!! thats not what is expected for entertainment, I think if each one had been put with an older more experienced team they would have been ok. The rooms were good and cleaned very well every day. Go over the road to the rock bar for some excellent perfprmers and shows. Overall Thompsons have to bring this hotel up to gold standard or get rid, this is the 7th gold hotel we have used and is by far the worst maybe just a 3 star but no more !!!!

when you walk in the hotel levante club yes its not a bad place, then its all down hill, your room wont be ready and when it is ready its still not ready, we had to complain 3 times over the first two days to change the dirty sheets.Breakfast if you are male dont think i am on holiday and i can wear what i want, beware of the double standards for male and female, i can understand that dinner that shorts are a no go, but breakfast if your wearing a vest your out. The food will always be on the cold side. even dinner time if a carvery is on the menu that will also be cold cut and put on to a hot plate. when you complain about the cold food they always had the same answer some times hot/cold use the microwave.Drink the price will change it all depends what direction you walk for a pint pool bar 3 euro in side 1.50 euro same time of day and then you will have to wait because lack of staff, if you buy drink from the machine and you want ice thats one euro by order of the manager will was told by the bar manager if your lucky you will get it free WOW.Sunbeds chose with care they have been broken since may but help is at hand the gold rep will show you how to repair it. The pool is a good size but far from clean in the mornings you will see a film across the top, and to top it all you will often see the pool lamps drop out dont worry its safe to have the wire in water because there off when the pool is open. The hotel as a maintenance team, in my view they just put the chairs tables sunbeds in and out. If you think you are staying at a THOMSON GOLD HOTEL BEWARE the standard of service is far from it ,entertainment was very poor thats an understatement. This hotel has a thomson gold name since may. but we got 1 star service with broken sunbeds rude staff and with a few children throw in. The Thomson gold team manager knew of the problems before we came, but nothing has been done. Good points nice bar across the road with good food at good price with free ice for your drink, If your staying at this hotel enjoy your 1 star service without a smile. after all make sure you dont forget anything because there is no way you will get back at all. please think before you book your holiday in this hotel.

We stayed at the hotel from the 18th - 25th August 2009.

Arrival - On arrival at the hotel we had a small wait but only because with this hotel being Thomson there was a coach load of us arriving together to check in. Staff were pleasant - only fault would be we had a superior room which means you get a free fridge (which the receptionist did tell us) - she just didn't think to give us the key for it... bit of a treck back down from the 18th floor!!

Room - the room was very nice, we had paid extra for the superior room. The room itself is no different from the standard rooms but you get nice comfy blue chairs/table instead of your usual white patio ones and you get a sunlounger on your balcony too. Being on the 18th floor I did feel as though we were right up there with the sun right enough...
On arrival you also get a bowl of fruit, bottle of wine and a 1.5l bottle of water most days (think it should have been every day though..)

Balcony - the balcony was very spacious and every room has a pool view (or in our case a puddle view...). I did think it could have been doing with a mop or brush though.

Restaurant - Ignore previous posts about the restaurant being rubbish and the staff rude because neither is the case! The food was very nice and well presented, most nights there was a nice meat available with a sauce, a variety of other dishes and there was plain pasta & a pasta dish available nearly every night. Out of the 7 nights we only struggled once, and if you are vegetarian it could be difficult to find something suitable. Desserts were the yummiest I have had at a hotel abroad - I usually don't bother with anything but they actually had cakes that were like proper cakes!

Restaurant staff - were exceptional, all staff were very friendly and their english is nothing other than superb. We had a bottle of water every night with absolutley no problem and different staff serving us. Obviously the way you speak to people will reflect on how they speak to you so maybe that's it.

Spa - We got a free entry ticket each for the spa which was nice but not our thing. Glad we gave it a try though.

Swimming pool - the swimming pool was nice, had a good temperature - not freezing like they sometimes are. BEWARE of your good swimwear though because the water dyed my bikini's a green colour and my skin also had a green tinge which I had to scrub to get off. No idea what is in the water but the staining didn't completley come out in the wash when we got home.

Entertainment - Daytime entertainment seemed to be enjoyed by all who participated from what I observed from my sunlounger. We didn't really rate the evening entertainment - it would need more variety, so we didn't stay for it much and it does go on until 12midnight every night and could be heard word for word even on the 18th floor (as long as you don't want an early night it'll be fine).

Hotel itself - having previously been to this hotel in 2006 and it was overrun by children, it is now over 16's only and I didn't see a child during our stay (BLISS!!). The hotel is situated quite far from the main attractions but good exercise I suppose! A good 10 - 15 minute walk to the beach.

Overall we had a very enjoyable time! This hotel gets a lot of mixed reviews but your holiday is what you make it. Enjoy! xx

This hotel should not be a Thomson gold hotel or have 4 stars. The staff at reception can be very abrupt and unfriendly. The room was very often not cleaned to acceptable standard, e.g. floors not brushed or sink not cleaned. The public areas very in some parts of the hotel were dirty and there was oil dripping from the four lifts ceilings.
On arrival at the hotel we hired the safe to find it locked. We phoned reception to report this, but after waiting and wasting two hours, we had to call again to report this before they sent someone to open it.
On one night over our stay we had no water on our return to the room (the Thomson rep told us we should not use water at night 1.30 am and should be in bed) the next morning the water was dirty brown. We were told by the Thomson rep that this water was ok to use. The Thomson rep also told us that it was the other guest fault that the water was brown for not running their water (no attempt was made to inform guest they needed to do this). It took over 36 hours for the water to clear.
Please follow these links to see you tube videos of the water.

The Thomson rep Lynda was aggressive and unhelpful.
The food at the hotel was of a low standard. But worse are the restaurant staff.

We had trouble trying to order a bottle of water. And one of the waitresses had a very bad cough. She was always coughing over the food and plates, even when she coughed into her hands she then touched food plates and serving tongs without washing her hands. The gala night was just the staff wearing different uniforms but the same food.
There is limited space around the pool and not much shade as the umbrellas are unstable in the wind. Also the pool area collects a lot of litter during the day.
The entertainment was really bad. It consisted of the reps doing quizzes and a bit of singing, and a couple trying to sing. There were two comedians during the week telling jokes I heard when I was 4. Very poor considering Thomson make a big thing about the entertainment in the brochure . Also, don’t be fooled by the bogof drinks during happy hour at the hotel bars, it is still cheaper to visit the local bars.
As this was an adult only hotel there seemed to be a lot of children at the hotel.
One good thing, there is a local Spanish girl working as a rep at the hotel, can’t remember her name (could have been Caroline) but she is much better than the other reps, always happy to help with great local knowledge - helps to get away from the hotel!

just back from the levante club best hotel we've ever been to. food was fantastic every night. Rooms were amazing, really big and spotlessly clean. They could maybe have done with more bar staff but the ones they had were great. the Thomson Entertainment Team were out of this world. We made some great friends by taking part in the activities during the day and the entertainment at night was so good we never left the hotel. We'd like to thank the entertainment team Dave, James, Kate and Claire for making our holiday really fun. Thanks again from Rosie and Steve. They'll know what it means.
