“Good but has some faults”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2012

Arrived early afternoon on 20 May 2012. Rooms spacious and very clean, lots of wardrobe space for 2. Cleaned everyday. Have to pay extra for safe 2 Euros per day. Food was good for all inc although we always get fed up after about a week and ended up eating out. Drinks standard all inc but the 'one drink - one card' rule was a bit excessive especially if you wanted a soda water to go with your wine. Some of the staff were very good other were not so. The entertainment was very poor so went out of the hotel every night.

The hotel was in a good location for us, away from the hustle and bustle but not too far to walk (approx 20 mins) to the Levante end.

Try the Old Town its brilliant with its quaint little cobble streets and Tapas Alley. It was fairly cheap in most bars, where the entertainment was better the drinks were more expensive. The centre of town was very busy with mainly stag nights with the usual expected strip joints and shows, however, away from the centre there is something for everybody.

All in all there were 7 of us (ranging from 37 to 51) who enjoyed it but we are more than likely to go self catering next time as its not worth the money for all inc when you end up going out all the time.

Stephanie

Picked this hotel after reading good reviews on here and we was not dissapointed.......

Arrived early afternoon, and were handed our keys and advised that once we had settled in, to come back down to have our picture taken for our all inclusive cards. This is a much better idea than a wristband, and you also get to keep the card when checking out, which adds a nice touch, due to the fact it has a picture of the hotel on it.

By this time, we were ready for our lunch and proceeded to the restaurant, which was self-service buffet style. There was so much choice, and it was divided up in different sections, including a salad and pasta bar. Various meats and fish were always offered, cooked in different styles and there was also a chef cooking on the griddle. The children had their own section, although many of them seemed to enjoy the adult range, and there was also a dessert section. The food was always very nice and different every day. Examples included paella, curry, roast and although you could have chips with everything, different potatoes and veg were always on offer. You will never go hungry!!!!

The Pool area was huge and sunbeds were always available, although towels were often put down quite early in the morning. There was a children's section, and also water jets in the main pool. My only complaint, was that it was only open until 6pm. I can understand the pool not being available after this time, due to the fact, it was not then manned by a lifeguard, but to be told that the whole area was shut and to move off the sunbeds at this time, was a little harsh. Although, i was there in May, it was very hot, and some people were quite happy to stay where they were a little longer!! I could imagine that this will be very annoying over the next few months, when it could be too hot to lie out in the middle of the day, and then to be told at 6pm to pack up........

Our room was a nice size, and very clean, as was the whole hotel. The towels were changed every day and the beds were comfortable. We had a room on the back of the hotel, which i requested, and it overlooked a couple of private villas....Nice and quiet. There was a flatscreen t.v and also piped music into our room. The air-con was no extra charge. We also had a fridge, which was nice, as you often do not get this with all-inclusive and we could bring drinks up from the pool bar after an afternoon spent lying in the hot sun.

The evening entertainment consisted of a duo, which, although they tried their best, really did not come up to scratch for this 4 star hotel. The entertainment team were good with the children but apart from this, i would not recommend staying there for a whole evening......We tended to go in for a few drinks after our evening meal, being all inclusive we felt it would be rude not to!! By about 11pm, we were ready to go into town and find somewhere with a little more life or to be honest, we would have fallen asleep.....There were plenty of older couples doing exactly the same as us, and we are in the 40 range, which does sum the situation up, so take some extra euros!!!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and i would return to this hotel.....Lovely and clean, great food and staff.

Room Tip: Hotel is in a quieter area of Benidorm so you are going to get a good nights sleep. The sun gets rou...

I have stayed regulary at the mediterraneo hotel since may 2009....and have nothing but words of praise for it. It is spotless everywhere shines, from public areas to bedrooms and the pool area.
I was amazed on my first visit and continue to be so after visiting other hotels in other parts of spain, canaria etc. This hotel leaves other 4star premises standing.

Towels are changed daily and sheets each midweek.Food is very good. It is well presented, the choice is varied and portions are generous.

Staff at reception are efficient, friendly and do their best to cater for requests. The same can be said for all those employed at the hotel. I can't praise them enough.

Room Tip: I havenot heard any negative comments from other guests in regard to rooms they all seem to be satis...

I have just returned from a five night stay at the Mediterraneo, staying all inclusive with my boyfriend. Overall, I was really impressed with the hotel, and I actually think that the recent reviews have been too harsh. Sorry this is so long, but I've tried to put in into sections.

We arrived at 1pm, and expected to have to wait for our room but were pleasantly surprised to be given the key straight away. Throughout our stay we only dealt with two or three of the reception staff and found them all to be friendly, efficient and helpful. We had been given a room on the opposite side of the hotel on the first floor, which was perfect for us. I'm not sure if we had been given a family room because compared to the rooms we usually get in hotels it was massive: our bed, a couch (fold out bed), seat area, coffee table, huge dresser and large wardrobe. The curtains are double-lined, so great at making the room darker. There are also plenty of mirrors in the room: a horizontal running the length of the dresser, a full length one to the side and one taking up a whole wall in the bathroom. There is also a flat screen tv showing bbc news, sky news and the disney channel in English and a small fridge. The bathroom was adequate, although the hairdryer was a bit of a pain as you actually have to hold down the button the whole time. Samples of soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and shower caps were given. The room was spotless for the whole stay.

The food in this hotel was the best hotel food we have ever had. Breakfast runs from 8-10am and consists of the usual cereals, breads, cheeses, ham and cooked breakfast. However, english sausages were available, as well as four types of egg: boiled, scrambled and hard and soft fried which made a huge difference. Pancakes were also available, along with different sauces. My only complaint here was one of the two toasters, which was so bad that the bread needed to be put through at least 3 times to get any colour, which is a pain when you have a queue behind you.
Lunch was from 1-3pm and always included a huge paella, along with other hot choices.
Dinner was from 7.30-9.30pm and followed a theme: one night Mexican, then Chinese, Spanish etc although there was always an Italian corner with lasagne and spaghetti just in case.
Snacks take place within the restaurant at 10.30-12.30, 4-6pm and 10pm-midnight. We only ever went to the late night one, which consisted of burgers, chips, dinner leftovers, and toasties.

The hotel uses photo cards instead of wristbands (double as room keys) for the AI which we preferred. The included drinks list was very good, but all were local spirits. There is a 2euro charge for the brands. There is also a daily cocktail which is included on the AI. The main bar is huge, and open from 10am until 1am, but AI stops at midnight. There is also a smaller pool bar, but this is only open from 12-5.30pm. The bar staff were all very friendly, especially the older male and small short-haired lady, who were always good for a laugh.

The pool is huge, has a small baby pool and a jacuzzi area. It opens at 10am, and before this has a barrier up to stop people reserving sunbeds which I was glad to see. However, on the first day I went out to the balcony at 8.30am to see that most sunbeds had a towel on them! I also wasn't a huge fan of the sunbed layout. They are all squashed together and you are literally a handspace away from a complete stranger, but there isn't much room to move them and to get in and out I sometimes had to stand on them. At the other side, there is a large terrace with tables, chairs, benches, ping pong, air hockey and table football. There is also an indoor pool and jacuzzi which also has saunas. For this pool you have to wear a swimming cap/hat. There is also a gym, and kids play area.

The hotel is situated straight across from the Benidorm palace, in the Rincon area and is about 20 minutes walk from the beach and main nightlife, but there are plenty of good bars within five minutes. Aqualandia and Mundomar are a 10 min walk up the hill from the hotel.

I think that this hotel is best for families and couples wanting decent surroundings but out of the main noisy areas and ticks all the boxes.

Room Tip: If you have kids ask for a terraced room facing the park area so you can sit on your patio while sti...

Having looked at the reviews on this hotel over months, my partner and my daughter aged 13 and myself decided to book this hotel, as it was between this one and the Hotel Deloix. Having not arrived until 2am in the morning due to flight delay, we were greeted by a member of staff and a security guard, who was most helpful and explained we needed to come in the morning for our all inclusive cards. We got to our room and it was a pool view with a double bed, single bed and a sofa. The room was very clean and the view of the pool was what we had booked so we were very happy.

However, awakening to the cleaner opening the door at 9.30am was not what we expected, considering we hadn't arrived until late in the morning. We decided to go to breakfast and all we can say, how miserable the staff were and the choice of food was absolutely appalling, yes breakfast finishes at 10am, so what was left you had to make do.

We then decided to go and get our all inclusive cards and the staff there was no more happier than the ones we left in the breakfast room, however, he was efficient and we got our cards.

We decided to take a trip to the bar, voila lovely staff and very bubbly lady not sure of her name, but made us welcome and was always chatty and very polite. In our opinion she needs a merit to work there due to the number of miserable staff, i presumed we had arrived at the wrong hotel if i am honest, reading the below reviews. My daughter was hoisted out of the room on several occasions, being 13 there was not a lot to do for a teenager and in fact brought her laptop, so she was happy to do this in the room and she also had downloaded films to watch, which thank the lord she did.

The sun bed scenario, you are literally on top of each other and there is no way to get on a sun bed unless you step on it and it swings up and hits you!! so watch out but in our opinion the sun beds had literally had their sell by date and need new ones, but then the member of staff who cleans the pool area, we watched him one evening, and he literally throws them down after spraying them with water, also not a happy chappy either. The pool looked very boring and was very cold.

As for entertainment, well some people liked it but for us, we were glad we had brought our playing cards, as it was boring and this place needs life putting into the place, as it could be a good hotel but staff, food and entertainment let this hotel down.

The food was repetitive and we went out for many meals, as my partner is a vegetarian and we couldn't trust fish was not added to the dishes due to him being allergic to fish, as for the meats, i actually asked the chef one night for me to cook the meat more, so he let me cook it - yes but i was on holiday!!

Would i return to this hotel, no sorry unless things changed, it was like staying in a 2-3 star hotel and i have holidayed in 3 stars before and the food has been a lot more quality and more fun, it was like holidaying in a morgue that needed to be woken up and shook up to expectations.

Your all inclusive stops at midday on your day of departure so be warned, considering we didn't arrive until 2am on the day of our supposed arrival which should have been midnight, at midday our luggage was stuck in the room even though we were 3-4 minutes late getting to the room, as we had gone into town for last minute things, the door would not work to open, the cleaner said speak to reception, so my partner went down to be told quite nastily that all inclusive and vacation is midday, we felt like we were ousted out of the hotel and not part of being a guest through to the end, after much argument, they extended one card until 4pm of which we were leaving at 2pm which would have expected due to not arriving until 2am on the 2nd day of our holiday, whilst not the hotels fault but we have never experienced this in other hotels and we have visited many!

I went to this hotel on the 15th May for a week with my daughter and few other family members. When you first arrive you think what a nice hotel, very clean, spacious and rooms are simply decorated but again clean and big.

Reception staff could do with smiling. We arrived at lunch time so we went up dropped bags off and went down to the restraunt and found the male waiters grumpy and not helpful at all and did not explain things very well at all. Food was ok but by the end of the week you will be sick of the same things constantly and a sign saying Childrens Menu does not explain what it actually is and you can't tell by looking at it. Things that looked like onion rings was acutally squid rings which put my daughter off she only ate pasta and rice all week.

When it says snacks you would expect that but it was actually just the left overs from the earlier means. Pizza with tuna on it was the only flavour they could actually make a variety. Drink was watered down we ordered a drink which was not on the all inclusive and got charged 3.40 euros and not the 2.00 euros for branded drinks. When we asked why they just said its not on the list of branded drinks so thats how much it is.

Entertainment you would be better off without as it was awful. People with young kids will be disappointed if they are expecting a fantastic kids club. The only thing we all played was the bingo which was awful as there was people singing and talking the whole we through and the caller was hard enough to understand as she was talking to her regulars and trying to say everything in spanish and english all the time.

On the website the hotel is near the beach but it is about 1mile from the main street where all the entertainment was. Bus down to the old town etc is 1.4 euros whether you do 1 stop or 20 stops and stops just across the road. We ended up getting crisps and juice from the nearest supermarket to put in our fridge and tv chanels in the room were limited Disney Channel, BBC news and SKY news which when your child is tired and needs to go to bed is no use as you can't even watch anything interesting.

For my first time in Benidorm I went with an open mind as its not a holiday I would usually go, but I thought I would give it a chance . I will never ever be back in this hotel and to be honest it has put me off going on holiday without the rest of my family and even returing to Benidorm.
