Marconi Hotel
Ranked #116 of 192 Hotels in Benidorm
Reviewed 20 May 2011

I've just returned from a 3 night stay at the Marconi and I was really impressed. I traveled as part of a group of three 30ish year old women. We went away for a cheap and cheerful break in the sunshine. To begin with we all had fairly low expectations of Benidorm itself, but the Old Town is lovely as is this hotel which sits on the sea front on the edge of the Old Town, we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay.
Location: A five minute leisurely stroll into the bars, restaurants and shops of the Old Town, 10 minutes in a taxi to the New Town and a quick hop across the road to a glorious beach.
Rooms: Ours was a triple room, three single beds, clean bathroom with shower, as we'd gone cheap and cheerful we had an interior room which had a balcony overlooking a tiny courtyard where we could just about touch the other balconies, although as we literally used the room for sleeping and showering we were not at all upset by this. Our room was cleaned daily, beds made, towels if left out were changed and a quick flick around with a mop.
Service: Again faultless, we asked for extra pillows and they arrived, we asked if we could use a hair dryer and there it was, asked for extra towels and hey-presto! The staff speak limited English (more English than I speak Spanish in fairness) but were polite and patient and always eager to help.
Pool: The pool is on the roof terrace, it's tiny but the views up there are amazing and we had uninterrupted sunbathing from 11am-7pm, so once again no complaints there. Staff were happy for us to buy drinks at the local supermarket and take them up with us too, so no need to buy from the hotel bar and cart a supply of drinks up 6 floors all day.
Food: We stayed half board, it was only £6 extra each for the whole stay. The dining room was by way of a small buffet, food on a hot plate with salads and bits available. It's never going to get any Michelin stars but the food was hot, edible and plentiful.
All in all I would recommend this hotel to any adults looking for a quiet spot with access to all the fun of Benidorm. Great if you want to explore the old town or soak up the sun, probably not brilliant if you have young children but for a grown up getaway on a budget I don't think you could ask for more.

I had read a mixture of reviews, and was almost put of by some, however I found this budget hotel great value for money, and in one of the best locations. You just walk out the door and your on the beach.
This is a Spanish hotel and I went full board, the food was Spanish, and there was plenty and tasty, but don't expect English food, though chips are available everyday. It was a good selection of food and different everyday.
I found all the staff very friendly and helpful and would recommend this hotel which is located next to the old town.
I only have 1 criticism and that is that there is no English channels on the tv, it would have been nice to have at least 1.

This hotel is in a fantastic position overlooking sea on the Poniente beach only few mins from Marina and Old Town. We found this hotel very friendly and helpful especially the bar man where the drinks were very fairly priced, which is rare nowadays in a holiday hotel. Rooms were comfortable and very clean, nothing fancy but as this is a smaller value hotel you get what you pay for. Restaurant was good, sometimes a few strange selections but different selection every night and always a lovely fresh salad bar. The Poniente side of Benidorm is predominently Spanish orientated but this is exactly what we wanted. Will deffo return.

Room Tip: Visit The Old Town for wonderful Tapas Bars.

Because of location and price for the week before Easter we thought we would give this hotel a try although we normally stay at a similar sized hotel a few doors away. Unfortunately on arrival we were not even acknowledged by the receptionist. We were given no information on mealtimes, how to work the air con controls or given a remote for the television. The room which was on the side had a balcony which was unexpected and the room was spotless. Meals were basic but good enough. Soup always piping hot. Food replenished regularly. There is no signage around the hotel giving instructions on what you can and cannot do. I took my bottle of water with me out of the restaurant to be shouted at by the receptionist. Bottles of water apparently should not be taken into the bar area in case you were to smash it and yet you can buy glasses of drink or buy a bottle to consume there. A couple we had met in the hotel also got told to get down stairs when paying cards in the bar even though they were not gambling. The manager however turned a blind eye to lots of spanish guests doing exactly the same a few days later. Double standards or what. The other problem was the noise we encountered in the room we were allocated which to be honest is not the fault of the hotel. We were given Room 115 which is at the end of the hotel but attached to a building next door. We arrived on Wednesday but by Friday night we came in at 2oclock early hours of the morning to find a television blaring. This went on every night. Night receptionist came to our room and said it was the flat attached. 6 oclock in the morning on departure day! We love this end of Benidorm although we do go to New Town every night for nightlife but will be staying at our usual next time where nothing is too much trouble.

just spent a week at this hotel, loved the location paid extra for seaview and it was worth it, rooms and bathroom good size and very clean. plenty of towels, cleaned every day
food good - usual for breakfast , cereal ,juice, different breads and pasteries, fruit ,yoghurts ham, cheese and beans, eggs and spanish bacon, choice of hot drinks.
evening meal usually choice of soup, salad bar, meat ,fish , pasta, pizza different potatoes and veg, usually choice of different cakes, fruit and yoghurts, i think most people should be able to choose something they liked. wine approx 7 euros abottle in resturant pay at the till then have room no. put on bottle and then ask for it next night you can do the same with the water.
staff very friendly although little english is spoken by reception staff, they were very patient and usually helpful. swimming pool very small and a few sunbeds so was usually quiet and it felt quiet private. few minutes walk either side of hotel different bars and shops.
about 20 min walk into old town . most of the guests spanish, maybe not first choice for families with children as no entertainment in hotel and pool very small.

We had a mid week break in this hotel and arrived back in UK yesterday, The rooms and hotel are clean and tidy, ours had a double and 2 singles in 1 room and 3 singles in the other.
The air-conditioning didn't work in either room. The beds are rock hard with no "give" in the mattresses, I thought the food was OK but there was little to eat for my vegetarian wife and daughter, all drinks including water had to be purchased at lunch and dinner.
Overall we thought the hotel was OK if you don't mind a solid bed.
