“lovely break”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

things I didnt like:
entertainment started too late at night. 9.30 pm for a kids disco? I know they are on holiday but thats still too late!
Pool area floor is far too slippy. My daughter fell over and sustained lots of bruises.
wifi charges - should be free! especially as the connection wasnt great
cups etc in bathroom never replaced the whole time we were there.
room 4102 had the worst balcony in the hotel!! overlooking a service area and because of the way it was positioned got no sun at any point in the day.
bit far away from the main area of benidorm, out of season means not as much to do as most of the bars etc close by are shut up for the winter.

Things I did like:
food was very good, and so much of it! always a good selection of meats and potatoes, salads and desserts. we bought some snacks to have in the room and ended up bringing them home as was always too full!
nice pool area, although pool was freezing and more fabric sunbeds needed
very clean and comfy rooms. ours was massive, even for 3 of us.
nice size balcony
room cleaned daily, by lovely friendly maids, new towels provided when requested
lovely and friendly staff in every part of the hotel
very nice relaxing massage in the spa (this was pretty much fully booked so dont go expecting them to fit you in!)
fridge in room was a nice touch
hotel in a nice location for families as not surrounded by high rise, lots of traffic noise, stag/hen parties etc.
quiet on evenings so you can get a good nights sleep!

This hotel is more Spanish, I would say 80% Spanish and the rest mixed.
Good clean apartment, spacious, Did find a cockroach in bathroom & was on the 3rd floor.
No cooking facilities, so if you like your coffee in the morning I would advise to take a travel kettle.
Breakfast not the best, cold meats, boilled eggs, fruit & cereals, English breakfast available but beans, eggs were always lukewarm, sausages were German hahaha, once there was English sausage but looked like it needed a few hours of sun as wasn't cooked. Cant comment on lunch & tea as I went breakfast only just as well.
No entertainment only light music for the Spanish kids to run riot in the lobby & bar area.
over all a nice clean hotel, with nice pools.
Entertainment is a 15min walk to the main strip for cabaret shows or number 10 or 4 bus which just stops out side hotel.

Sat on my sunbed getting the last few rays before our flight home. I am writing my review, this is our 4th time at this hotel and I must say the standard of cleanliness has not faulted from the first time we came. Reception staff a lot friendler, few new faces about. Last time we came food was not as good but have to say it has improved, anyone who says they struggle to find something to eat must be hard to please. Rooms as said by others spotless and spacious. This hotel is away from the centre bout 20 min stroll to beach. All I can say will be back as this is one of our favourite hotels.

Had a five night stay in Oct & had a fab time. Hotel was spotless bedrooms kept very clean & were lovely & big. The pool area was very clean. Could do with more fabric sunbeds tho instead of hard plastic but apart from that it was lovely. The food was nice & agsin all very clean altho we did eat out several nights. Would definatly recomend this hotel.

We returned to the Deloix for our fourth visit in October - and this time we persuaded 6 friends to come with us. That's always a dangerous thing to do - your own likes and dislikes can often vary from those of your friends!

But no problem. They all loved everything about it. They all agreed that being someway from the centre of Benidorm is a good thing. (In none of our visits have we ever encountered large stag or hen parties staying there. Being some way away form the bars and clubs seems to put them off.) There is always a good mix of well-behaved families and friends who also seem to appreciate the splendid architecture of the hotel and it's large spacious rooms and balconies.

If you want the clubs and bars they are only just down the road but in the hotel we all appreciated peace and comfort.

Looks as if we might be returning with an even larger party in March 2014. But sadly I believe the hotel will be closed form Christmas until the 20th March (?). But matter - we will be returning as that time of the year gives us the lift (nice weather) we need after an English winter.

We all agreed this hotel is great!

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the pool and main road get the afternoon sun on the balconies.

Was here again in October. 30 odd degrees and a wonderful pool to cool down in.
As usual the hotel is excellent. Clean rooms, nice staff and a clean and quiet pool. It's a quiet part of the town and only 3 floors high unlike most of the benidorm hotels. Highly recommend this place if you want a cheap hotel that's got all the qualities of a very expensive one. Will return for a 6th visit soon as I can afford it

This was our third year in a row staying at the Deloix and there is only one reason we would ever return to a place twice, let alone three times and that is simply because we enjoyed it.

It was made even better this year because our friend from the first visit, Paco, was back behind the bar!
We were so disappointed last year when he had moved away. He is such a nice fellow and always happy to help us with our terrible Spanish!! But we do like to try :0)

We stayed for 10 days on this visit and I have to say that although it is still a great hotel, it is starting to show some signs of wear and tear. For example, as soon as we walked into our room we spotted that the covering on the sofabed was ripped in several places. Large tears, not little frays around the edges. Maybe it's the economic climate, maybe there's no cash for repairs, but I doubt it. I think the attention to detail has just slipped a little over the 3 years we've been coming that's all.
It's the same with the food in the restaurant, the standard has definitely dropped over time. We were struggling to find something that we actually WANTED to eat on some nights and indeed we ate out 3 times. Other times we just picked the better bits from the buffet and then went out and topped up with tapas in town.
Fresh made paella or fideua were served some nights which were lovely, but by the time they had been left unattended under the heat lamp for 10 minutes they were ruined.
The hot main meals definitely seemed to be made with lower quality meat than before also.
I'm not saying the food is terrible, far from it, but where the rest of the hotel deserves its 4 stars, the restaurant lets it down a bit.

As well as the sofabed, the shower was very weak and the air conditioning unit squeaked when in use but all in all the room was fine. We didn't really need to use the air-con anyway. We overlooked the pool area (see pic) but it was never too noisy or intrusive.

I think I paid somewhere between 5 and 10 Euros for a 7 day connection to the hotel Wi-Fi which while not extortionate, in this day and age I think it should be free.

The reception/bar/entertainment area is very modern, light, clean and tidy but unfortunately it doesn't create a warm friendly atmosphere and we didn't spend much time in it other than chatting to Paco at the bar. Hotel entertainment isn't really our thing anyway.

It must seem, reading back through this review that all I have is complaints about the Deloix which is totally wrong. I really, really like it here. It is in a great spot, far enough out of town to escape the noise and (in my opinion) horrible-ness of the Levante English area, but not too far out to be a bother to get to the old town. The number 10 or number 4 bus stop just across the road from the hotel and for 1.50 Euros each take you right down to the old town avoiding all the louts.

Catch the Number 10 directly outside the hotel during the daytime and it will take you to L'Alfas Del Pi (inland town), Albir and Altea where there are quieter beaches, nice bars and restaurants serving tapas and meals.
Get off the bus just before the town at L'Alfas Del Pi train station and you can go forward to Calpe and Denia on the train. About 45 minutes away, Calpe is lovely and Denia is about a 1 1/2 hour journey up through the mountain and down the other side.

We will definitely be back to the Deloix, it's one of our favourite hotels in Spain. I just hope they pull their socks up a bit and sort out the niggles. an extra Euro or two per head spent on the menu and it'd be great, which would invite more top reviews on Tripadvisor, which would mean more bookings.....wouldn't it? Seems like simple business sense to me. They are having to close during November this year, a first, because of a lack of people. Another sign that they need to up their game.

Room Tip: Nearly all rooms seem good. Try and avoid overlooking the kids pool though as the constantly running...

Dear friends from Leicester

Thank you for your time and loyalty.

For your information, the hotel is closing this winter for a couple of months in order to refresh our rooms, that's to say, in 2014 Deloix will be like a new Hotel!

Hope to see you around for the fourth time so that you see those changes by yourself.
