My husband and I stumbled across 'El Faro' completely by accident during a trip to Calpe last December. We had been for a lovely walk along the coastal path soaking up the incredible views, and decided to turn off the path and head through a lovely residential area back towards our apartment. Just a short walk from the coast, we noticed this bar - there's a large outside seating area, but also a lovely, welcoming, cosy inside space, ideal to settle down in on the more chilly evenings.
We decided to head back and try the bar that evening, and couldn't have had a warmer welcome from Ian the Landlord, and a few of the local regulars. Since then, we have been back numerous times whenever we holiday in Calpe - it's very relaxed and friendly, and it's a great place to meet new people and hear about the local area. Unfortunately they aren't serving food at the moment, but if you fancy a nice relaxed few drinks (day or night) then definitely head to 'El Faro'. It's one of those places that you think 'we'll pop in for a swift half'.....but then end up spending the entire evening there! We've never been and sat on a table in a corner just ourselves, we always find ourselves joining in at the bar, chatting to the other customers and having a great time.
We wholeheartedly recommend this little hidden gem, an easy walk from the main centre of Calpe. We're looking forward to seeing Ian again soon..... and by the way, any Rod Stewart fans, step this way....you'll be right at home!!!
