I have not stayed here as we have family nearby. The hotel looks very nice & the amenities are good. But my experience is eating in the restaurant which has nor been as good as you might expect.
The first time was the day of the official opening and we had a meal in the downstairs restaurant, it was all very nice and 4 of us had various dishes.
Since that time my family have had both good and not so good meals. The service is not very good, there is a lot of waiting and the staff are a bit surly.
This week three of us went in for a meal at lunch time & had the more expensive set menu, we all had tuna salad, served with a very nice green salad.
It was really tasty and nicely presented.
For our main course we all chose escalope of pork. Well when it arrived the escalope looked like a huge popadom sitting over a mound of very dark green vegitables, which looked very unappitising. There were also some greasy looking chips.
It was obvious that the meat had been deep fried which made it quite tough. We all tried to eat some but although the taste was ok the vision on our plates put us off. The waiting staff could see we had left 90% of the food but were not interested in why.
We ordered our desserts which, was one ice cream which came a good 5 mins before the
the cold rice and a portion of tirimisu.
My tirimisu was not good at all, it was 90% artificial cream & 10% sponge and not fresh so the cream was quite solid and the small amount of sponge was dry. The rice dessert tasted very nice but the rice was so over cooked that it was almost impossible to tell it was rice
We asked 3 times for the bill & as no one was making any attempt to bring it, I said to my husband , to just leave what we could work out we owed and we would leave .
At the point we stood up, two of the waiting staff came to our table & we told them that the food had been very mediocre & badly cooked. To which one of them said it was quite correct to put escalopes in the deep fat frier. They just seemed to think we were being unreasonable and no apologies at all. The other waiter just smirked to which my brother said He didn't think it was a laughing matter.
So we left, it is such a shame that they have such a bad customer service attitude, as it has all the potential for being a really good place.
