“Great tapas”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

That was the perfect tapas... a sh***y and dirty place, but not too much: enough to understand that if is full of people, food must be good... and in fact!

“Wonderful tapas spot”
Reviewed 23 February 2014

Visiting from Boston on a business trip, I had some time to explore Valencia on the weekend. Had seen some mention of EK on some foodie sites and went for a visit. It's a little tricky to find as the little streets aren't very well marked but your persistence will be rewarded. Very welcoming and nice traditional setting. VERY comprehensive menu. See photo. Everything was delicious; octopus, bravas and croquetas were superb. Prices reasonable. Would go there again.

“A Favourite”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

The Plaza Dr Collado is my favourite small square in Valencia. It’s not elegant and it’s not smart, but the combination of children playing, colourful buildings, a shady lone olive tree, the fascinating Telas Metalicas, the towering walls of the historic La Lonja and the enigmatic, permanently closed, Numismatica La Lonja give it a unique character.

Then there is El Kiosko. Again not the most elegant nor the smartest tapas bar in Valencia, but one of the best for its good food, reasonable prices and friendly atmosphere – relax outside in the warm months or enjoy the snug tiled and mirrored interior when it’s not so warm. We shared tapas of bread, cheese, crispy pescaditos, spicy patas bravas, grilled vegetables and sweet Spanish ham, all very good. Not only good, but in portions that more nearly approximate true tapas and not the large plates served in so many places. It’s a case of less is more. On our last night it was an ideal relaxing end to a good week in Valencia. OK, the service was a bit eccentric, but it was no hardship to go with the flow.

“You get what you pay for”
Reviewed 1 May 2013

Wandering round on a wet Monday night, this was one of the few options open. I really thought it was going to be terrible and certainly the red wine was, but actually the food was fine. We had cod croquets, salad, mushrooms, boquerons and tellinas and they were all good. Very pleasant waiter. Would have been good to stop the through breeze by closing the other outside door earlier. Cheap.

“Hopeless”
Reviewed 17 February 2013

Lunchtime meal, we were seduced by the 11 Euros price and the fact it was busy. The 2 cooked courses were either cold or un-appetizing, and the place a shambles, with all the staff looking harassed.
