“Decent hotel, great location, cool ceilings!”
Reviewed 11 July 2011

It was a relief to check in here after a slightly hairy taxi ride from the station (!)...we were in room 42, which was a decent size with a little balcony overlooking Calle Boix. A shame the bed was two singles pushed together, but I liked the curved brick ceilings. The bottled water was a nice touch too. The bathroom was less good - almost impossible to stop water getting everywhere when we had a shower and I kept having to kill ants in there! All in all though, a decent hotel and a great location - right in the historic centre and just a short walk from Plaza de la Virgen. We got the bus back to the train station - having found that the stop is just steps from the hotel's front door!

This is a charming, spotlessly clean hotel in the medieval section of Valencia. The staff was helpful and ALWAYS there to answer questions. The room is basic, but clean and generally quiet. We think this is a huge bang for your buck.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 4th floor to avoid the heat!

The hotel is in a great location and is charming, but with cleanliness problems in the rooms. The hotel has a restaurant, but we lost our appetite after seeing how unclean their rooms were...

Great things: FREE WI-FI and we were within walking distance of most of the places we wanted to see - like the silk exchange, the popular plazas, the cathedral, and the large market! The architectural details inside the hotel are amazing - the ceilings are unique and the hotel is very beautiful! The front office staff was incredibly polite and accomodating!

We ended up seeing 3 different rooms before settling in the third. The problems we had were 1) rooms were not very clean, 2) our original room did not have a working safe (it was physically broken), and 3) one room had an incredible odor coming from the walls. Again, the staff was very accomodating and moved us to a non-smelly room with a working safe, which we were VERY appreciative of. I don't know what we would have done if there had not been another room available. The odor was unbearable and we would have been unable to stay at this hotel.

Now, as for cleanliness, we saw a total of 3 rooms at the hotel and all had the same exact problems: there was hair stuck to the side of the sink and hairs all over the floor from previous guests. It was very dusty (very thick layers of dust on baseboards, above electric outlets, etc.) and there were lots of stains on the walls and doors. The mirrors in all 3 of the bathrooms had water spots and toothpaste splatter from previous guests. All of these things could be fixed with a good thourough cleaning.

To the hotel's credit, there was a "sanitized" plastic sheet over the toilets and they seemed clean. Also, the beds, towels, and sheets appeared to be very clean.

Overall, it is highly unlikely that I would stay here again. Although the hotel was beautiful architecturally and decoratively and the staff was very kind, it would make me feel better to stay somewhere a little cleaner.

This was a great hotel - fantastic location right near a bus stop if you turn one way and a short walk through small old neighborhoods if you turn the other. beautiful old part of Valencia with lots of cafes, restaurants and amazing architecture. Hotel was what you would expect, NOT soundproof and so anyone in the hallway or cleaning makes sleep impossible. Also, no large beds so they just push two twins together. Since the beds are made up separately there is not really any way to comfortably sleep with another :-)

Very comfortable room and hotel, the staff were really helpful and friendly, great location.
The only complaint is that breakfast was a joke, better of eating elsewhere.

Well located in the old town close to most of the squares and attractions. Quite a walk from Colon, the nearest metro. Staff attentive and friendly, and willing to help. We were willing to try the restuarant but not really functioning. Breakfast only Ok, local option better value. On the whole a good 3 star option, and would stay there again.

This hotel is located in the old part of town, tucked away in a narrow cobbled street. The location is wonderful. Turn left out of the hotel doors and it is just a short walk to the cathedral through the alleys of the old town. Turn right and you are onto the Carrer del Pintor Lopez on the edge of the Jardins and with major bus routes nearby. The hotel itself is clean and appears recently renovated. Our room was a delight. It was at the front of the hotel and had a small balcony overlooking the Calle de Boix below. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
