Hotel Jardines del Turia
Ranked #86 of 98 Hotels in Valencia
Reviewed 22 October 2011

Me and 3 friends (all aged 18) went out to Valencia to experience the La Tomatina festival, and chose to stay slightly out of the city centre at this hotel, NH Jardines del Turia because it was the cheapest option available. I'm guessing it's primary function is for one-night stopovers or business clients, but it wasn't terrible having to stay there for 7 nights as all the staff were friendly.

Some of the cab drivers seem to have problems finding the hotel although the majority didn't have any trouble, and when we arrived we were greeted by friendly, English-speaking staff. The rooms themselves are of a nice size but plates/dishes/cutlery weren't included in the price, which wasn't a problem as we ate out every night (bar one). Rooms are air conditioned which was great as the heat reached around 35 on some days.

As mentioned, this hotel is not near the city centre, so we had to use the Metro (the local station Benimamet is a 10 minute walk) to get to the centre and the beaches. This is very well priced (A 'Bonometro' ticket costs €10 and gives 10 trips - needs to be tapped like an Oyster card for each person on the journey) and takes around 40 minutes to get to the beach. There are local shops to get essentials at which are also quite cheap, so there's no problems there.

Whilst we were out in Valencia, we managed to watch a thrilling 4-3 win by Valencia CF over Racing Santander, and went to La Tomatina (again very well organised getting there, there are plenty of guides once you get to the main stations). The beaches are very nice too, quiet city beaches which are perfect to relax all day before going into Valencia centre in the evenings.

Overall we had a fantastic week at the Jardines del Turia, the reception is 24 hour so when we arrived back at around 2/3am they greeted us with our room keys which we left with them when we went out. If you don't want the hassle of getting to and from the city centre and beach, this isn't the place for you, but if you like exploring the local areas it's good fun.

Stayed for three nights, the hotel is not the easiest to find but on arrival reception staff were very helpful, the rooms are apartments that could do with modernising but serve the purpose well althogh tea/ coffee making in the room would be useful, the only coffee available is from a vending machine in reception, car parking is available on the street outside on a first come basis, the hotel is in a not very nice area and I did not see any restaurants in the local area, you really need a car here, takes about ten minutes drive into centre of town, the hotel restaurant does a basic menu and not over the top prices, although the hotel is non smoking the open lobby area with tables and chairs is a smoking area and sadly the smell seems to linger there with ashtrays etc, the first two nights were very quiet but on the Friday night there were a coup[le of coachloads of children staying there and that brings all the noises of chairs and beds being dragged around and running up and down . Having said all that I would probably stay there again if the price is right, Valencia is a very lovely city and well worth a visit.

It's the second time that I have stayed in this hotel, and I have really enjoyed it. The NH Jardines del Turia is on the outskirts of Valencia, but the city centre can easily be reached by train/underground. The staff was very helpful. I was given a big room (an appartment actually, with living room, bathroom, bedroom, and kitchenette - the latter not equipped though). There were little shampoo and shower gel bottles in the bathroom; I asked for additional body lotion, and the cleaning staff provided it to me immediately free of charge. I did not have breakfast this time, but remember a good choice from my last stay. The purpose of my stay was to see the "fallas" in Valencia, and after a long day out and about I was grateful to come home to a peaceful, quiet location.

Excellent value for money (shop around for the cheapest rates in this hotel), short walk to the exhibition centre and close to the metro (tram) line that will take you anywhere in Valencia (city centre sightseeing, shopping, beach. eating out etc).
Clean simple spacious apartments with plenty of storage. A bit unusual layout with open air patio being a lobby (it does rain in Valencia in summer) and bedroom window actually facing the corridor inside the hotel, but efficient aircondition sorted the fresh air. Free 30 minutes WiFi in the lobby and very tasty breakfast.
