“friendliest place in the heart of the OLD CITY”
Reviewed 11 February 2014

OK so this place is not glamorous or fancy! What it is, is: clean, affordable, comfortable, perfectly located for walking the old city of Valencia, and amazingly friendly. The sisters who run this place could not be more lovely, helpful, available and genuine. For the price, this place is a winner. I have stayed there, and have had many friends and family stay there as well. The lobby has some extra amenities: tea, mini frig for sodas, travel info, computer, etc...
Old city can be loud, but this place is situated well. Ask for a quieter room when you book. Compared to my apartment here in Valencia, the place was a tomb. Anyway, I live here and I still stop in to see Sonia and Christina who run the hotel. They are true sweet hearts.

we enjoy always to be back here. our anual stay there while winter time and grey in grey in switzerland we love to escape to the mild climate of valencia.

family owned place since generations. always a very warm welcome. the rooms nice and clean, the hotel in the very heard of town, few steps to great restaurants, bars and seight seeing.

means also can be a bit noisy from the streets when peoples going home at weekends.

the street is very narrow and small! check a map for a easy arrival so good to find.

Stayed 2 nites before a cruise. Great location, steps to Mercato de Centrale (amazing market - biggest I've ever seen). Sonia couldn't have been more accommodating or more helpful. She switched our room the 2nd night so that we could enjoy a balcony. Her sister's bakery is just down the street, be sure to enjoy delicious pastries there too!
Great value 50 euros a nite.

Just got back from spending three nights here in early October 2013.

The location is excellent, lots of decent bars and restaurants very near by, and easy to explore the historic centre of Valencia by foot. The rooms are clean, plus they have a TV and aircon. Also, the staff are very friendly and helpful.

If you want a decent little hotel at a very reasonable price, then this is the place for you.

Stayed 3 nights for a mates wedding in Valencia. Antigua Morellana was recommended as a place to stay and it was a great bit of advice. We were treated like friends from the moment we arrived. Great value, clean, double room. Super comfy bed and great powerful shower. Great location ideal base for exploring. Loads of good bars cafes and restaurants within 5 mins walk and most of central Valencia 20 mins walk.
Really no need for a car but as we flew into Alicante instead of Valencia (another story, our mistake) we had to hire one. When we discovered on the third day our hire car had been towed away and we needed assistance with the Spanish paperwork the lady at the hotel filled out the form for us photocopied all the forms and told us exactly where to go to sort it out. Nothing was too much trouble, even down to ironing my shirt and trousers for me on the day of the wedding.
I really can't recommend the Antigua Morellana highly enough. We will be back .... definitely !!!!

We had 3 nights at Antigua Morrellana, 9th-13th Sept. This was our second stay here following an overnight stay around 3 years ago. We glad we made the choice to return. Several things separate this accommodation from the rest; the location was ideal for us. Within yards there are several lovely bars and restaurants. You would hardly call the area pristine but it has a charm about it. The rooms themselves are about the right size and must be the cleanest I think we have stayed in.
On arrival, Sonia spent a good 15 minutes going through details of the area and recommendations for places to visit and the best local bars and restaurants. She marked these places on our map for us. Sonia continued this helpful approach with us and she is lovely. This is clearly a family business and they made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Sonia also helped us with our Spanish after we told her we are trying to learn the language.
It was a real pleasure to spend time here. We have travelled all around Spain and paid far more for accommodation than Antigua Morrellana charge. The value for money for this hostel is the best we have experienced and we would have no hesitation recommending it to anyone.
Gracias Sonia y us familia. Eres el mejor.

If you are looking for a clean and simple hotel, a great location and treated as a true guest, then Antigua Morellana is the place to be. We stayed for 14 days in this family run hotel where everything was done by the owners to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The rooms we had were spotless clean and all facilities worked ok, including free Wifi. If we had any questions or need for help, we got immediate assistance from the AM team. It's the people who run this hotel that makes it a great value for money.

Centrally located in the old city of Valencia, all historic attractions are within walking distance. Nevertheless we rented bikes and a ride through the 8 kilometres Turia parc has been a memorable experience. The old city centre itself is not bike-friendly due lots of one-way streets and limited cycling paths.
The old city centre offers a lot of places to have good food. Within 100 metres of the hotel we already experienced three great tapas/fusion restaurants; Sesame, Jacaranda Sensation Food and Tinto Fino Ultramarino.
Downside is the large distance (5-6 kilometres) between the old city centre and the beach. Traveling to the beach takes approx 25 minutes by bus (line 32 or 19) leaving from plaza de Ayuntamiento.

Room Tip: During the weekend there might be some ambient (street) noise. A room on the backside of the hotel a...
