“Good, but doesn't provide necessary amenities for a business trip”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 September 2013

I booked this hotel to have a peaceful stay during a business trip. And peaceful it was, out of peak season at a very reasonable rate. Receptionist made a great effort to speak a Spanish understandable enough for my basic one, but not so much can be said about the man who staffed the breakfast room, who was downright rude. I know I came in a bit late in the morning, but still, serving breakfast only till 10AM is a shame, especially considering Valencia's nightlife (yes, even on a professional trip you need to unwind after a day).

There were not too many people, and combined with the low lights and marble floors wall-to-wall, it gave that uneasy feeling of a gloomy 4-stars hotel that have seen better times. Corridors are not lit at night, and even during the day, I first missed my room because I couldn't read the number. It's not too difficult to have a motion detector lighting, or least a timer, is it? That extends to the room itself. Design is straight out of the "classical" 60's side and is in dire need of a modern refurbishment. Everything was clean and well-maintained, with embroidered thick towels, but... no hot water at night? I came in late, but this is not excusable. The following morning, pressure wasn't even adequate, and there was no temperature control. I believe that whenever somebody on the same water line taps into it, you get wild variations. Temp-controlled plumbing should be standard in hotels. I probably would have gotten a more decent stream standing in the rain! Plastic soap dispenser and a really cheap comb were the eyesores in an otherwise magnificent bathroom. Outside, a high balcony

As usual in many hotels, TV sits way too high on the wall. The bed was clean and comfortable, but for some reason, didn't "smell clean", but rather some industrial clothes detergent, i.e. not sweet, not harsh, but "functional". And talking about functionality, having to pay for WiFi is cheap, really cheap, especially considering there are two plans, a splittable 1-hour access, and a continuous 24 hour one. We're not 1995 anymore, Internet access is a commodity, not an option, and surely not at that rate. Couldn't they add it for a nominal fee for the the duration of my stay? Soundproofing from the outside was adequate, though, but not so much can be said about the neighboring rooms, as it reminded me of cheap-y north-american internal soundproofing. Breakfast room also felt cheap and unwelcoming.

This was in stark contrast to a 4-star hotel some colleagues stayed at, with thick carpet, powerful yet dimmable lighting, modern-designed. Granted, it was much more expensive, but that's how a 4-star hotel should look like in my opinion. I don't know who is setting the star standards for hotels, but this Turia is worthy of a good 2-stars, maybe 3, but not 4. Not anymore, at least.

I am not asking for too much, but a modern hotel should provide hot shower, silent place, comfortable bed, a desk and reasonably-priced wifi. Room size isn't important, design is not either, even TV is optional.

We stayed at Turia Hotel in April 2012. The rooms are big enough, beds are more than confortable, rooms are clean, some problems with the shower... The position is good...it is right in the commercial centre of Valencia. It is very easy to get to the airport from there and in the city center as well. All the rooms have a small balcony (the smokers know why :d).
The hotel is ok, but not impressive.

The hotel is reasonably priced and offers a good breakfast but we had difficulty charging things and the second night the air conditioning didn't work at all. It was very hot and uncomfortable. Underground parking is handy.

Room Tip: Just make sure if it's hot that the air conditioning is working!

We stayed in this hotel in September...Having read all the reviews beforehand, I actually expected worse...the hotel does need a good refurbishment...the air conditioning was very poor (thankfully the weather is not too hot, beds are not the best in the business, and for some reason the corridors are not lit at night which gives the place a creepy look. The walls are also quite thin for my liking...The staff were helpful overall (especially the men)...one of the girls kept telling us that things were expensive (I suppose she didnt want to sell us stuff)...the breakfast was overpriced and in fact we just went to the shopping centre next door (excellent food and nice shopping too)...Also DO NOT PARK AT THE HOTEL...you may find parking in the road parallel to the hotel for free (just park in the white boxes and ignore anyone who comes asking for tips_

Room Tip: A/Cs arent so good so avoid in Summer....Buy breakfast from the shopping centre next door, and park...

We were visiting Valencia from a neighbouring region and needed a convenient hotel close to the historic quarter. We had no complaints about this modern business hotel. It is very convenient for the Turia subway station and a short walk to a modern shopping mall and the old town. Breakfast is rather minimal but inexpensive.

The location of the hotel is really good and a nice park next to it. The staff are not very friendly. The hotel needs updating and definitely doesn't have 4 star standard.
