“Excellent Asian fusion”
Reviewed 5 June 2014 via mobile

If you're hungry for fusion cuisine in Valencia, look no further. La Cantina de Appetite is the little sister of Appetite, a more upscale restaurant down the street. The menu features decidedly South Asian-inspired small plates and entrées, along with a large drink menu (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and a few desserts. For lunch, try one tapa, one large plate and a dessert for just 12€. Inside, the decor is chic yet inviting and comfortable. Highly recommended.

“Very Disappointed”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

We decided to go because it has such great reviews, but after having lunch there we were very disappointed. The staff is friendly but the food is mediocre and extremely overpriced.

When we went there was a set price per person for an option of a 6 course or 8 course meal. We chose the 8 course meal that was 38 euros pp. My first complaint not even close to the price listed. The first plate was a small plate of nacho chips with guacamole and a coupple of shrimp. Good but nothing spectacular or different. Then we had 2 Samosas that were good. They brought a plate of wild brown rice with onions and fried chicken wings that did not have much to it or any flavor, we had mini spring rolls that were very plain, and other small plates that were not impressive. The main dish was a duck leg with noddles. None of the dishes seemed very unique or anything special especially for the price paid. Overall it is very pricey and the Äsian Fusion¨description not accurate. The food is average and teh ingridients not well used and combined.

“Wasn't what we expected. Not their fault.”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

We tried to go to Mood Food for the second time, and it was full. Someone who we saw at the restaurant the night before (obviously liked great food) recommended the sister restaurant for this place, which was closed on Wednesday. We were told it was kind of the same menu. We went to this place by cab (recommended),. The menu was fixed price for either 5 tapas for two 22E each, or 3 main courses and two tapas for 30E each. We did the 5 tapas, and it was Asian fusion with a Spanish flair. Had a bottle of white at 16E. The best thing about the place was the Cuban waitress, who was an engineer and had a great life story. Not our type of place, but the food was well prepared and service was good and prices were reasonable.

“If you want Asian in Spain”
Reviewed 23 April 2014

Whereas we enjoyed the evening, we didn't realize this was an asian restaurant. Not that we don't like Asian, just that we would rather have had Spanish. Ended up here because the other restaurants we wanted were either closed or full. Someone recommended this place and it was getting late. The way this restaurant works is your table picks 2 appetizers and 2 entrees or 5 appetizers and your table shares. The food was tasty and presented well. We really enjoyed the server, which made the meal remarkable. They have a sister restaurant across the street: Appetite, which was the restaurant originally recommended to us, but that restaurant was closed too. Not sure why all the restaurants were closed. Could have been due to holy week.
