We visit Valencia each year as it is one of our favourite places, however we usually stay at the Westin. This year we decided to try the Las Arenas as we wanted to be by the beach during the day. We opted for a sea view room and didn't regret it. The view was outstanding, day and night, and it was fantastic to wake up looking straight out onto the Mediterranean, and fall to sleep listening to the fountains in the hotel grounds. For a pricey five star grand luxury the room was a little small, however the facilities of the hotel - spa, pool, make up for this. The only downside is that it is 20 minute metro ride or five min/nine euro taxi ride into the old town, but if you don't mind this then I would highly recommend this hotel for a Valencia holiday.

Room Tip: Always go for the sea view room.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this hotel although the staff were a little with my booking however they were professional about it and apologised for their error. One problem for early morning swimmers is that the beautiful pool is only opened at 9.30am (or was it 9am??) never the less facilities are great. I will definately go back to this hotel again.

A lovely hotel in a great setting by the beach and close to the port, with a number of perfectly decent restaurants withing walking distance.
The hotel iteself is very well designed, i would highly recommend paying a bit more and making sure you get a sea view room, otherwise you will be at the front of the hotel facing a road and a few shabby looking buildings. The hotel room was lovely, nice big room and a decent bathroom with a good size shower. Only complaint was noiron or ironing board in the room which personally i always expect in a five star hotel.
The hotels main restaurant is good, not excellent but good although pretty expensive, starters can range between 16-20 euros and main courses from 24=32 euros so be prepared. The service of the staff in the hotel is generally very good, some are better than others but on the whole polite and efficient although not the quickest it is a case of mannana!
Only other comment would be that there is no waiter service by the pool, something that i would expect in a five star hotel.
To summarise a very nice 5 star (European hotel) that isnt up to the same standards as some worldwide 5 star hotels

Room Tip: demand a sea view room - 36 euros a day upgrade!!

Don't get me wrong this is a fantastic hotel, great rooms, great location by the amazing beach. The single most important thing that defines a 5 star hotel from a 4 star, is the service provided to the guests. The service at this hotel is chaotic at best, particularly at breakfast!

When I am in a 5 star hotel I expect to eat when and where I choose from whatever menu. Sitting outside in the bar area of the hotel enjoying a drink, I was told I would need to move 3 tables to the left to be able to enjoy tapas with my drink? Why?

After trying to sit down at the restaurant I was told I could not sit there until the kitchen opened at 830pm. I would also need to make a reservation, I did and came back at 830pm to find the restaurant quarter full. Again, why make a fuss for a quarter full restaurant 10 minutes before opening?

Breakfast, every morning I would have to find my own table and then watch the staff concentrate on clearing old tables rather than focus on the new arrivals. Most mornings we had wait to be offered coffee, one morning it took 20 minutes! Lots of staff without a clue on how to manage tables.

I asked for a simple cocktail, a white russian. They had all the ingredients but I was told I could only order what was on the menu? What? Even the very efficient waitress seemed bemused!

Arrived at the pool wondering around looking for towels. Eventually, after walking around the pool three times I found the life guards sitting in a room who seem to be in charge of towels. I had to present two paper cards in exchange for two towels. Be warned, lose these credit card pieces of paper and you get charged 100 euro at check out! In a five star hotel I have never anything this ridiculous and more in keeping with a holiday inn!

Its such as shame, a small number of the staff are very good and have obviously worked in hotels before. The majority did not seem to have a clue or just didn't care.

Please don't let my review put you off the hotel, it is a great hotel in Valencia Beach, very modern and the deluxe rooms are fantastic (even with the quarky plastic spray jet shower) All I would say, if you are expecting FIVE STAR service your going to be disappointed.

Celebrated our 10th weddinganniversary, beautiful room with view over the see. Very attentive staff. Wifi free, breakfast was great, many choices available.
Had dinner at Rafa Morales restaurant; really tasteful and the dishes are a painting on itself. Real value for money!

Room Tip: Take the ones with seaview, more expensive but worth the money

Myself and my partner stayed at the the Playa de Las Arenas in late August 2012. We travelled from the airport directly to the hotel, roughly a 20 min drive costing around 35 euros in a taxi.
The location of the hotel is very good located directly on the seafront. The hotel is one of the largest in the area. We booked one of the rooms with a seaview which also overlooked the pool. The rooms are spacious and clean with nice furnishings and well air conditioned.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are more expensive and have balconies.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in August 2012 and enjoyed our stay very much. The location is great, good beach access, nice pool, fantastic breakfast, town center is 10 minutes away by taxi. Had an executive room on top floor, very well equipped, definitely worth the price.
Only downside is the restaurant service during the afternoon, which is very slow, but Valencia offers plenty of great restaurants and the friendly concierges are more then happy to place a reservation for you. Free parking in the hotel's garage is an added plus!
When in Valencia, we will check in there again for sure.
