I went here to see the holy grail. The cathedral looks grand from the outside and is even better when you enter. The arches and columns are big and carefully crafted. The entry is cheap about 5€ and an audio guide is also provided for some extra money. The holy grail enclosure is seperate and is most peaceful. You can sit for hours. I enjoyed my time here and I recommend a visit here.

They claim they have the "Holy Grail" and it might very well be it, but that is not the only reason to go. This building is amazing with all the extravagant detail the architects/engineers went to. The wood working is amazing, the fresco is amazing. Leonardo DaVinci and his family worked on this. Definitely do the audio tour, gives great history!!

There are numerous alcoves and small chapels within the cathedral. Still an active house of worship. Do get the audio headset. The grail is at stop # 18, the Capilla del santo Caliz. Very impressive.

Worth seeing at least once in your life. There is a very nice outside cafe across the plaza from the Chapel

Valencia Cathedral is packed full of interesting features that make it worth paying 5 euros for a guided tour. The alabaster, carefully angled windows that keep the place cool and direct light to the altar are worth the admission fee alone in my view. Alternatively you can often pop in at the end of services for a more informal look round. Unlike in the UK (in my experience), Spaniards tend to wander in and out of services in quite a relaxed way for a smoke, phone call, breath of air so you don't need to feel you are behaving inappropriately if you just pop in for a few minutes (flash photography during a service? much too far in my view but often seen!). Personally, I find the Spanish approach liberating and less starchy .. The Holy Grail itself is pretty much as per the picture above. You can see it but it is quite high up and behind both glass and an ornate glass casing. Is it real? Well, it is one of around 3/4 contenders in the world that I know of (none of which may be real). It is scientificaly verified to be old enough to be real but then cups were pretty common in those days too ... My view? It's more likely to be real than the body of St James in Santiago de Compostela that was flown there from Jerusalem in a stone boat by angels so that he could be 'found' by a shepherd 900 years later and pronounced authentic by the bishop (early DNA expert!) when the Christian church happened to need a symbolic leader for the fight against the then Islamic government. Doesn't stop 100s of 1000s of people making a pilgrimage there every year (me included!). If you just see the Grail as a fascinating cultural artefact in an enchanting Visigothic-Islamic-Christian building in a beautiful city, you'll enjoy the visit a lot more!
