“Suitcase stolen in hotel foyer”
Reviewed 5 March 2014

While checking in to this hotel our suitcase was stolen. It was beside us while we queued to check in, and taken at the moment when we had to show our passports to the receptionist. The theft was recorded on the hotel's security video, but they had no security on the door or in the foyer. We reported the theft to the police. The hotel's business manager to whom we wrote did not accept our view that a 4 star hotel ought to provide security for its guests (as most, in fact, do in Spain). He did not accept that the hotel has a duty of care towards its guests. As our suitcase contained essential medicines we had to return to the UK that evening and abandon our holiday. We used our room briefly: it stank of cigarettes (it was meant to be non-smoking); the wifi didn't work, and the room was full of condensation from the previous guests' use of the shower. This is not a 4-star hotel. There were not enough receptionists on duty, they were all very young and inexperienced, and the senior manager we wrote to was adamant in his view that the hotel has no responsibility towards the property of its guests.

Thank you very much for your comments about your stay in our Hotel Primus Valencia. Let me first say how sorry I am to hear that your suitcase was stolen and the inconvenience this has caused you. This should not have happened.

It is very regretful that your luggage was stolen whilst in the Hotel lobby. This is an extremely rare situation in our Hotel.

The Hotel does have a CCTV system but not have security staff in the lobby.

We are sorry that you feel aggrieved with the Hotel on this occasion, but feel we have dealt with the situation in a professional manner.

2nd time and last time we were to this hotel. The staff at the lobby can be considered rude and not helpfull. Poor service, Sofa in the suite smells like wet dog, probably never been cleaned. Breakfast is so basic that you would rather go at the corner cafe to get a better one. Wifi never worked and after asking for a solution for 2 days we were "offered" a cable to plug for the internet and the person at the lobby never said they were sorry and the only thing he said was "if you dont bring ti back you will be charged for it" . What the ...?
Such a shame this hotel should get a better management..

Situated about a mile from anything worthwhile except for the City of Arts and Sciences (which is great for families but nobody else), this hotel is very modern and clean. The bar is incredibly over-priced, as is breakfast. The room was nice, but they brought us a baby's crib instead of the cot that we requested. They wouldn't bring the cot after we called and requested it again. Then, we found out the spa that was supposed to only cost a "small surcharge" to use, would end up costing us 20 Euro PER PERSON. 20 Euro to sit in a hot tub is ridiculous considering what we paid for the room. Along with this, you need to schedule an appointment just to use the spa, which is understandable, but they were full for the next two days! To put it simply, this place was a great modern hotel run by a bunch of morons. Only stay here if you want to be treated objectively and like it's a privilege to stay there. These guys are scam artists.

Many thanks for your comments about your stay with our Hotel. We take note about your comments about the SPA. For a surcharge, guests have access to the hotel’s extensive spa, which features a dynamic swimming pool, cold pool, hot tub, sauna and hammam. A range of massage and beauty treatments are available. There is also a fitness centre. Week 18 eur per pax and on weekend 20 eur per pax. Only if you book the same circuit before the checkin you can take a better price non-refundable as 15 eur per pax. If you are interested in make a reservation check with hotel about opening hours and the availability. I hope to see you soon in Primus Valencia.

The hotel is in a prime location for visiting the Oceanografic centre, and the museums of arts and science. The staff were helpful, and the overall appearance of the hotel was modern, clean and tidy. the room was comfortable. A good choice of food was available at breakfast, the cost of which was included in the room rate. Car parking is conveniently situated below the hotel, with a15 Euro per night charge applicable. There are plenty of restaurants and bars near by, and also two large shopping centers.

A stylish business hotel lacking a personality. Rooms are clean and tidy with nice bathrooms. Flooring is wooden which did feel a bit cold in January.
Bar is a little small for the size of the hotel.
Breakfast fairly good with both hot and cold choice.

We (9 of us) stayed here last week for 2 nights (Wed & Thurs) & overall we enjoyed our stay, though it could have been much better. The rooms are modern & comfortable & it has a nice gym & spa. It has a underground car park (which you have to pay for) which makes it easy to get to by car. After that a €8 taxi fare will take you into the centre. There are local buses on the road outside plus there is an open top tourist bus stop just across the road. There is also a huge Corte de Ingles department store & a shopping centre just opposite the hotel entrance. There are numerous local bars & restaurants but you need to be choosy if you want a good one.
As the guys were playing golf at a local golf course us ladies decided to have a session in the spa on the Thursday morning. It is €18 for a 120minute circuit though you have to pay extra for robes, flip flops & swimming caps (which are compulsory). Towels are provided free of charge. We had a wonderful morning but it could have been perfect if the hotel staff had had attention to detail. They had lovely candles everywhere but none of them were lit. Why bother, if you are not going to light them! 2 of the installations in the spa pool were not working & there was a large patch on the ceiling which was damp, mouldy & in need of repair. Not nice to look up & see it. The young lady on the spa reception was friendly, helpful & welcoming, as were all the staff.
I booked a treatment (a 1 hour massage) & again it was good, but not worth the money. It was €75, & for that I would have expected something special. I arrived in my clothes & was left to change in the treatment room. It would have made it so much better if I had been given a robe to change into, a locker to put my clothes in & perhaps somewhere to relax afterwards. As it was I had to put my clothes back on & leave immediately after. For €75 I would have expected something more luxurious. The treatment was lovely but it could have been a wonderful experience! It was just average.
As I said in my title the hotel missed getting a 4 due to the poor breakfast. Each day the hot food was cold & unappetising. There was a lovely selection on the buffet but why can't the hot food be kept hot. Surely that's not unreasonable?
We would definitely stay at this hotel again as the location is great. It's right beside the Museum of Arts & Sciences & Oceanographic, with lots of shops right outside the door.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the road & top floor if possible. Due to the nature of the floor people wa...

15 of us descended on reception at the same time and whilst it was a little slow (our fault of name changes) the staff were very helpful and sorted out rooms for all of us eventhough it was only just after midday when we arrived.

I have stayed here before which I was I chose it again. It is convenient for the city of arts and sciences and is a short bus or taxi ride to the beach or the old but I prefer to walk through the Turia riverbed as it is such a beautiful place.

The hotel is modern and our rooms were clean and tidy one or two of the rooms were showing wear and tear but nothing that would affect your stay.

The bar was frequented regularly and the service and drinks were excellent, a few more comfy sofas would be a welcome addition to the area along with some additional doors to stop the draft coming in to the building when smokers come in from outside.

Overall I have to recommend this hotel. A great deal from a good quality hotel.
