My Wife and I stayed at Casa Romeu Flat 6 for five days in August. This was our first trip to Valencia.
The flat has recently been completely refurbished and therefore it is clean, fresh and everything works! Very spacious two bedroom apartment which is very well equipped and thought out. The kitchen in particular has everything you need and it has been decorated with beautiful Spanish tiles.
Access is secure and easy. The lift stops right outside the door to the flat which made carrying suitcases easy and it would be easy for older guests or young children to get to the flat.
The flat benefits from an excellent location and it is very close to the wonderful Mercado Russafa which is a covered market where you can buy fresh fruits, vegetables, bread and fish on a daily basis. It's well worth seeing even if you don't actually buy anything!
The Plaza del Ayuntamiento and the Cathedral are within 20 minutes walk and well worth a visit. There is a Tourist Information booth in the Plaza, but be warned there is always a queue.
The Jardines del Turia are an interesting concept and in one direction they lead to the City of Arts and Sciences which is about a half hours walk. These very futuristic buildings are so different from anything you will probably have seen before, they are a must. You really will think you are on Mars ! To us they were more interesting from the outside than the inside, but they are well worth a visit.
Mercardo Central is also something you should "do". A much bigger version of the one in Russafa it really is mouth wateringly fabulous.
The flat is surrounded by hundreds of bars and restaurants. The ones we tried in the immediate vicinity of Russafa were preferable to the ones we ate at in the more touristy areas. The food was better, cheaper and we thought the restaurants more "authentic".
There is a small bar/restaurant at the end of Calle Romeu de Corbera named "Pizzora". It's 20 metres from your front door and the food is good and the service friendly.
On our last night we visited "Appetite" on Pintor Salvador Abril. Great place to eat. Unusual concept in that there is no menu as such. You give the waiter a list of allergies or dislikes and then your dinner is 6 or 8 courses of whatever the Chef wants to cook. For 27 Euros each you can't beat it. Go there !
We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.
