“Eat like home for very affordable price”
Reviewed 18 April 2013

Fancy a real vegetable stew?? A just cooked Spanish omelette? A juicy piece of meat?? Home made tasty soups?? If you miss your granma's cooking, this is the place to go. Cooked with love and time (but you don't wait forever for your food), a friendly service and a price that goes from 3 euros (soup, omelettes) to 4.5 for veggies stuff or 7 for meats (really nice servings). Try the home-made desserts, they are worth every penny!!!

Nice, cozy atmosphere, not designer or the like, but real Spanish food.

Wonderful treat for little money!!!!

“As near authentic Valenciano as it gets in the city centre”
Reviewed 15 April 2013

Very good, small Valencian restuarant in the heart of the city. Located in a narrow lane off the main street between the Ayuntamiento and the Cathedral, it offers good quality food at very reasonable prices. Always busy at lunchtime (sometimes full to capacity) with mainly locals and few tourists.
There is a set menu but best to choose off the main list. Paella, fideua, albondigas, mussels etc around 4-5 euros a plate. Traditional three course and a glass of wine about 12 euros and much better value than the big board offers. A speciality is a lamb knuckle which falls of the bone. Bottle of palatable local wine, from the Utiel/Requena region, is only 6 euros which is staggeringly cheap compared with other establishments. As the name suggests, the restuarant is run by a family from Utiel, and the dishes reflect that area. English understood. Worth a try. Get there just before 2.00pm to ensure a seat. Also open in the evening, but did not visit.

“The Only Tourists”
Reviewed 4 March 2013

As far as we could tell, we were the only tourists in the restaurent. The rest were locals enjoying a fabulous lunch of simple, well cooked excellent food. We started with a plate of fried seafood that was perfect. Crisp yet moist and full of flavour. We then had the signature dish of baked lamb and the kidneys in sherry. Both were fantastic, the lamb meltingly tender and the kidneys perfectly cooked. Desserts were just as good, a chocolate fondant and the succulent pudding of the house. All this washed down with a good bottle of Douro red and a glass each of white wine for Euros 63. The place was deservedly packed on a Monday lunchtime with lots of people waiting for a table and we will go again. There are no reservations so either go early when it opens at 1.15 or at about 3.00 when the rush has died down. A real find.

Excellent food. Great atmosphere. Bit of a treasure hunt to find but worth it when you do. Great choice of local cuisine.

“Inexpensive example of Valencian restaurants”
Reviewed 28 November 2012

We had a paella marisco and shrimps in garlic. The latter was very tasty - a good example of Spanish kitchen - and the Paella was very dry - a bad example of Spanish kitchen. The house wine is really cheap and not that good either. The service was very fast and kind.

All in all if you need have a fast and inexpensive dinner with a Valencian flavour, this might be something for you.
