we went, two couples together to celebrate the other couples last night of a holiday looking for something just a bit more upmarket than normal. I had visited Blanco a few days earlier just for a beer in the evening and had been in conversation with the owner who certainly seemed to know his stuff.
On arrival we were promptly seated outside as we had asked and were given some good advice on the menu and the wines. We started with a few beers.
We ordered two carpacios of tuna, a plate of tempura and I had mussels with clams to start with. Each of the plates were delicious and presented as works of art. The tempura looked spectacular and tasted as good as it looked.
The main courses were one steak rare and one blue, one steak tagliata and a pork. The quality of the produce was clearly the best and the cooking perfect. The vegetables were again done by a designer and tasted great.
It was a special night and we plumped for the most expensive wine on the list, Euro30. It was spectacular. To give it a value it was better than my previous favorite wine for which I pay Euro25 at the cantina. It was so good we opted for a second bottle, the main course was already finished so we had a plate of cheeses to help it down.
Service was professional, peronal and not overwhelming.
Blanco is in the old town which is traffic free so sitting outside on a pleasant evening of itself is a pleasure, with good friends and excellent food and wine it's truly special.
