“Esplanade was wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2014

We are from Canada and stayed at the Esplanade for 3 days. Giuseppe, the concierge, was wonderful and extremely accommodating and helpful. He recommended restaurants, beach lidos, and bike rental locations.

The breakfast service was great. Espresso was to die for!

Location of hotel is superb. Very central to beaches, restaurants, and Pescara central. Hotel rooms were very nice. Beach is a very short walk as are all restaurants.

This was our second stay at this hotel and I am planning on returning.

Wonderful view, excellent position, fantastic building from outside and that is it!!. Once you enter it is drab with no character, furnushing needs updating and staff need training in customer service. When we arrived there was no warm greeting, nobody to carry bags, no hotel information and I was laughed at for going up the wrong staircase as there was no-one willing to direct you otherwise. Don;t hope for a great breakfast as what is on offer is very limited. Breakfast service is very, very poor, infact we waitied 20mins to be served and had to then leave our seats to ask for breakfast (this happened every morning). The two ladies on duty do not like to smile or ensure you have what you need. They offer hot beverage and that is it. Because of the poor service at breakfast we were reluctant to go there for an evening meal, however, we discovered that the restaurant does not belong to the hotel but is part of 'The Victoria' and the evening meal is completely different, absolutley fantastic, At exactly 10 o'clock food is cleared away even if you haven't finished. Bathrooms are small, twice my husband hit his nose on the basin as he was trying to sit on the toilet. My advise is do not stay here as there are plenty of better hotels in the area. This is most definitely not 4star and the only reason I gave then 2 stars is 1 for cleaniness and 1 for view.

Room Tip: Sea View or better still choose another hotel.

Terrible experience. Dont stay here. Terrible service, rooms, and a joke at 4 star. The only decent thing is the location and the website.

Landed in Rome, rented a car and drove clear across Italy in one afternoon, finding this Adriatic seaside city. Beautiful beach and boardwalk with countless restaurants and beach clubs. Hotel, across of the beach, was recently refreshened, and is clean and neat, although rooms somewhat on the small side. Breakfast buffet on the rooftop restaurant was superb, with a fantastic view of the beach and Sea. Could've stayed for a long time, but wanted to taste other localities. Definitely recommend this spot. It's not been discovered by americans yet!

Room Tip: Ask to face the sea.

Stayed there for work last month, and after reading the reviews on trip advisor, I was actually expecting this hotel to be worse. The rooms have obviously been refurbished, bathrooms are new, but the corridors and room still smell old and mouldy. the first room I was given was so noisy because of the restaurant and elevator that I spent a first sleepless night. After complaining the following morning I was immediately given another room, bigger, nicer and quieter. Unfortunately the smell was still the same... Staff was friendly enough,

First - not only no parking but a rude response when asked. Go and find a parking space, there's parking where you can lock up your car later. It's closed now.
Then, went to my room - terrible mouldy smell in bathroom - got an allergic reaction and had to change room.
The staff did immediately move me, no problems, and my new room had a new bathroom. But no wonder the bathrooms had problems - they don't have air extractors.
What is nice? The views, the location, the old fashioned little balustraded balcony.
It was quiet and a nice temperature. The beds were reasonable. The bathroom was passable. The room was a good size. Very old-fashioned fixtures. TV remote didn't work.
Breakfast - poor choice. Particularly if you arrived a bit late. But a wonderful view. Wonderful.
What a shame this hotel doesn't pull its socks up.
But as my Italian business companion, who comes to Pescara quite often, pointed out - he chooses it because it doesn't compare that badly with the other hotels he could choose instead in Pescara.
Anyway - we ate really well here too. Pescara isn't such a bad place but I wouldn't want to come here on holiday.
Nice bar on the sea front opposite the hotel where you can go and work and grab a beer or coffee.

Room Tip: Ask for a new bathroom. And a sea front facing view.

The Esplanade has been around for a while, but the hotel feels as if it is has been restored and modernized. The rooms aren't the biggest, but the view is fantastic (ask for sea view and a balcony), wifi worked and was free. The location is perfect, one can walk to everything one came to Pescara to do. Roof restaurant was pricey, but amazing view (only evenings though); street level restaurant was very trendy and seemed to be a place to go and be seen. We mostly ate around the corner at a fantastic seafood place (Birreria del Corso) though. Only drawback: parking - either on the street or in the nearby lot, neither are attended and cost 2 euro an hour (bring lots of change, no bills) but free all day Sunday. Other drawback; the hotel doesn't have a reserved section on the beach so it cost 19 euro for a fixed umbrella and 2 loungers. And because of its location, it is not 100% quiet at night, but tolerable.
