On our way from Positano to Taormina we decided to stay overnight in Cosenza, a midpoint in the trip.
At night we followed TA's recommendation and like always it was right on the mark. The place is beautiful, a large house with some 20 tables in the open air in the garden. Since this town does not seem turisctic, and given the talk in Italian in all tables, we might be the only aliens there. It is a local spot, crowded with local families.
After some 15 minute weaiting (it was Saturday night!), we were seated in a nice table under a tree. We asked for the mix of antipasti (9 euro), and man, that was a lot of good stuff!! Parmigiana eggplant, prosciutto di parma, copa, ricota, muzzarela, bruschetta, some tempura-like stuff, and a lovely marinated stringbeans with carrot (those that taste so good you say, wow, this is special!).
The pizzas were great, especially the "2008 World Champion", a mix of alici, onions, ham, special cheese, and other ingredients, tasted very good indeed.
For dessert, a lovely chocolate wousse with cream and choc chips.
All of this for less than 10 euro per person (no alcohol)!!
So, whenever you are in Cosenza this is the place for a great dinner! Totally recommendable.
